WINTER'S PEACE

Flurried swirls of crystal snow,
Blown eddies churn in speckled glow,
Blanket thick of milky white,
Ground that's covered in winter's might.

A single flake of beauty's dust,
Uniquely shaped and caught in gust,
Spirals down to lend its poise,
Carpet laid in soundless noise.

With covered scene beyond the eye,
Glinting luster on ground does lie,
A sight so peaceful with wordless grace,
Stillness captured in shrouded lace.

A tree of mighty stature stands,
As signpost to such frozen lands,
Calm and tranquil in wintery passion,
Frosty scenes of brindled fashion.

Disturbance not the eye can see,
A lake of winter's tranquillity,
With hushed and gentle inviting call,
As winter's peace enrobes us all.

3.0 out of 5 stars Janet Fridman's Review, May 15, 2011
This review is from: THE OCCASIONAL POET (Kindle Edition)
Dr. Seymour has a rich selection of adjectives and is very expressive. I would like to see more variety in his choice of rhyming schemes. I wish him every success in the future and look forward to poems of greater length and complexity.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent!, May 8, 2011
This review is from: THE OCCASIONAL POET (Kindle Edition)
I've just read "Winter's Peace" and I truly felt the
sensation one has upon awakening after a night's
quiet snowfall. Dr. Seymour is a gifted and talented poet!
I wish him continued success.

5.0 out of 5 stars A true romantic, May 7, 2011
This review is from: THE OCCASIONAL POET (Kindle Edition)

Gary Seymour is a true English poet (I hope that is not an insult). He has classic control of the language and incredible use of poetic verse.

Mr Seymor is a true romantic, his poem 'The Tree' is beautiful and conjour's up the English landscape. I was truly impressed and awed it was a great pleasure to read Gary Seymour's poetry. He is a truly talented poet.

More About the Author

"It is such a pity you cannot write poetry full time." said my aging aunt.
'THE OCCASIONAL POET' was born.

I was visiting an elderly patient in hospital when she commented about the beautiful view from her window.

I wrote this poem for her

SUMMER'S GIFT

Clouds so white emblazoned sky,
Green resplendent fields that lie,
So crowded with a crimson shroud,
Colours bright that shout so proud.

Sea of red with blackest eyes,
All staring forth along the rise,
A sight to swell the hearts of all,
As scarlet billows stand so tall.

The green expanse of rolling field,
That naught disturbs for all must yield,
Hearts do melt at scene so true,
A velvet cape of carmine hue.

Rippled wave sweet breeze unfolds,
An ocean current that ruby holds,
Incandescence spreads its golden line,
Vermilion tincture on which to dine.

So noble painting by Nature's hand,
Shows countless Poppies where they stand,
In luscious blanket etched and drawn,
A sight so wondrous on summer's morn.
