Review

"One Of The Best Surprises In A Long Time." Douglas C. Meeks "Book Reviews@Large" (USA). Amazon Top 500 Reviewer. 2013.
"... The author never gave you a place where you were not so involved in the story you could actually set it aside for more than a few minutes (and having to sleep just ruined my night since I had to wait a day to finish it)..... I cannot think anyone would not enjoy this novel since I seldom visit this genre and it only took a few pages to captivate me ... Get this book, you will be glad you did as I was pleasantly surprised."

"I didn't want it to finish." Jo Reason, San Francisco Book Review. 2014.
"This was an enjoyable thriller...with thrills and wonderful unexpected twists...they surprised me. Full of action, international travel, corporate excitement and plenty of murder... These are fast-paced books that you won't want to put down and you won't want them to finish."

From the Author

The Orange Moon Affair was a blast to write - and is dedicated to Terry Forrestal, ex-SAS and brother-in-arms, may he rest in peace. He was a fine soldier yet had that streak of larrikin in him and so I think he'd like this book and the character, challenges and exploits of Thomas Gunn.  It was also natural to include a strong female character, pivotal to the outcome of the novel, which is not often the norm in this mostly "male-dominated" genre.  I think Julie brings more depth and richness to the story with her insight, considered actions and calm inner strength, as well as her ability to be unpredictable when you least expect it.

Anyway - I do hope you enjoy it - please let me know by writing a review and visit my website afnclarke.com and leave me your email so I can let you know when new books in the series are published - the latest one, The Jonas Trust Deception, is for sale on Amazon both as an ebook and paperback - don't miss it! And there will be more!  Thanks and happy reading :)

I typically enjoy suspense, thrillers, and mysteries but get easily frustrated by all of the technical jargon and myriad of people coming and going throughout the book. The Orange Moon Affair was definitely not like those weighty and laborious tomes. Starting off with a devastating helicopter crash that most likely was the end for Thomas Gunn, our intrepid hero, and his beloved, Julie, and then going back six weeks to where it all began, the plot was constantly fast-paced and interesting. Everyone was suspicious to me, including Julie and Thomas' stepmother, Mary, which always makes for a fun read. Thomas' wealthy industrialist father has been murdered on a business trip to Northern Ireland, and although Thomas has eschewed the family business for a military career and then a playboy lifestyle, his father's dead face keeps playing in his mind. Family is family after all and his father's murder must be avenged. What Thomas finds is an incredible conspiracy involving very high-ranking players and spanning the globe. Luckily, Thomas has some unlikely helpers in his dangerous odyssey to the truth. Weapons, computer jargon, vehicles, and flying apparatus, plus a wealth of spy tools, are gleefully discussed and utilized reverentially by author AFN Clarke to aid Thomas in his endeavors.

The greatest aspect of this book, in my mind, is the emotion that Clarke imbues in the story despite the fact that Thomas is a killing machine, according to government official Radley. Often confused by how he feels or what he is supposed to feel, he nevertheless manages to make the reader see him as a good guy with a soft heart. Tough and cold in battle, he takes care of those closest to him with a ferocity that speaks of deep love and respect. Tears are no stranger to this compassionate fighter.

The Orange Moon affair is hard to summarize. It is an excellent book with all the right elements, and there is truly something for everyone.

This is the story of a man named Thomas Gunn. Gunn is an Ex-British Special Forces soldier who is on a mission after his billionaire CEO father turns up dead. Gunn worked very hard to distance himself from his father and build his own life, but finds himself drawn back into his old life once again.

What starts out as a seemingly simple murder mystery quickly becomes much more layered and complicated than anyone could have imagined. It seems like every answer Gunn uncovers only leads to more questions. Before he knows it, Thomas Gunn is traveling the globe uncovering endless pieces of a puzzle which eventually leads to the largest conspiracy the Western world has ever seen - one that will certainly change the world as we know it if Gunn doesn't act fast!

The classic plot is easy to follow, but with more than enough twists and turns to keep you at the edge of your seat. The characters are thoroughly and richly developed and really make the story come alive. The dialogue is clever and on-point all the way through. The writing is brilliant. Although the thrilling plot is quite fantastical, it is very easy to get lost in the story, and everything feels gripping and real from beginning to end.

The writing is exciting, riveting, and thrilling. The Orange Moon Affair is a real page turner, and you will be waiting with baited breath as you wonder what will happen next. The plot is very fast paced, but not hard to keep up with at all. In fact, you will feel like you are there, having been taken into an entirely different and exciting world. The Orange Moon Affair is the first of a series, and I can't wait to read the rest!

Somehow I had thought this was a paranormal tinged novel when I bought it (who knows why). The fact that it was not might have made me decide NOT to finish it but there was a problem. The author never gave you a place where you were not so involved in the story you could actually set it aside for more than a few minutes (and having to sleep just ruined my night since I had to wait a day to finish it).

The book starts with a huge action scene and then throws you into the past so you spend about 50% of the book reading trying to find out how our hero and heroine got themselves into such a freaking mess. I felt manipulated and felt the author had tricked me as I consumed each page of the book driven by the addiction the initial setup had intentionally left me to solve.

Thomas Gunn is an ex-military Special Forces type that has money and skills ...... and he uses both in this thriller. The emotional twists and action scenes are done skillfully and the story twists back on itself so many times it is dizzying but the author knew enough to rein it in and keep it from getting too confusing. The character of Julie will surprise you a bit so be aware.

This is an action book, a bit of James Bond thrown in but Thomas is a bit more human and nothing makes me smile more than a good bit of revenge which is a strong hook in this book.

A true "Save the World" plot that Ian Fleming would be proud of is just part of this fast moving train so enjoy the ride.

I cannot think anyone would not enjoy this novel since I seldom visit this genre and it only took a few pages to captivate me. I gave this 4.5 Stars (rounded to 5 for Amazon) with the only minor complaints were some very small editing mistakes toward the end of the book (the editor got tired/lazy?) Get this book, you will be glad you did as I was pleasantly surprised.
