5.0 out of 5 stars Supernatural!, November 22, 2000

I am primarily a nonfiction reader, so when a friend gave me a copy of "The Sorcerer's Confession", I wasn't expecting too much. After the first 20 pages, I couldn't put it down. Morgan spins a tale that takes you around the world, through great moments in history, and even multiple states of being- all through the tortured mind of a wonderfully duplicitous sorcerer. Entangled in a dark, cosmic struggle to be free of the evil that conceived him, the sorcerer's confession is awash in gripping intrigue, erotic interludes, and powerful forces, played out by a beautifully developed cast of characters. I am anxiously awaiting Morgan's next great work!

5.0 out of 5 stars A romp through the centuries with a charming monster., July 13, 1998
By
Charles B. Parselle (Los Angeles, CA USA) - See all my reviews
In Charles Sutton, author Susannah Morgan has created a thoroughly engaging, and quite deadly, character for the reader to follow with horror and amusement on a macabre ride down the centuries, as the loveable monster (officially "Assassin to the Crown")loves and murders his way from the bloody tumbrils of the French Revolution to the slave plantations of the New World. On the way, he learns a thing or two about life, the universe and stuff like love. This is a rollicking read, full of inventiveness and wit.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thought-provoking and wonderful - highly recommended!, October 29, 2011
This review is from: THE SORCERER'S CONFESSION (Kindle Edition)
Charles Sutton is a sorcerer and a ghost. He lived his mortal life in the 18th century, and was killed during the French Revolution. Now he has contacted Katherine - Kate to her friends - in order to dictate to her his confession, in an attempt to rid himself of the negativity and connection to his old sorcerer master.

That is the basic premise of the story, and the idea of Charles as a ghost who steals the bodies of others in his attempts to communicate with humans was such a good one that I was hooked. I begged the author to let me read and review these books for her (including the sequel, "The Sorcerer's Promise"); thankfully, she agreed. Watching the life and afterlife of Charles unfold was fascinating; the characters are so well-drawn that they feel like my friends, and I was sad to finish the book. However, I am excited to read the next one. In addition to a fascinating, and obviously well-researched, story, the book provides some wonderful metaphysical truths about being, consciousness and how to best live in this world. I highly recommend this most wonderful book to people who enjoy a good story, a strongly reality-based historical fantasy, and those who are searching for enlightenment. While there are a number of scenes that are quite dark, it is all part of Charles' life path, and important to the story. Read it - you'll love it as much as I did!

It took me awhile to get going, but once I got going I could not put it down. It was a fun fantasy page turner with a interesting twist. I like the interaction between Charles Sutton and Susannah Morgan, There is a strong underlying moral story hidden in all the action as Charles learns about humanity in his afterlife. If you like your books to move, you will enjoy this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sutton- Man's Man, Lady's Dream, December 12, 2011
This is the best book I have read in years. I fell in love with Sutton, but what woman wouldn't? He is the quintessential storyteller- you are right there with him, weather he is swimming with dolphins or in a murky European sex den, he really tells it like it is.

Morgan has an intellectual's vocabulary and an enlightened point of view. This is really a subtle love story told through centuries, and is insightful and endearing. Though this is a complex web of hundreds of years of life, lies, murder, love and death- for anyone who has lost a lover, or lost a loved one- this book will give you a 'warmth in knowing'. You may be surprised to find answers you didn't know you were looking for, and ideas you never considered, in the middle of all the murder and chaos! I was.

I can't wait to read The Sorcerer's Promise.

This would make a great movie!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A MUST READ FOR THE OPEN MIND!!!, February 2, 2008
Ms. Morgan's portrait of Charles Sutton's struggle to break free of the evil confines of the ghost and demon world of the Lord of Darkness, takes the reader on a journey through history and the joy and pain of finding and losing love and happiness... It opens up a world of sorcery and betrayal... His ventures into the real world borders on the bizarre but makes you wonder about life after death at the same time... It also portraits the good and evil in all of us and our constant struggle to find happiness... Every one of Charles's adventures could be a story of its own... Together they form an historical mosaic that captivates the reader from page to page... If this is any indication of the author's talent I am looking forward to future efforts...

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing, November 14, 2007
I found this book amazing especially from a first time author. I love history, ghost stories and mysteries and this book satisfied all three genres and more. The writing was excellent and made reading interesting. Ms Morgan captured her topic and left nothing hanging. I do hope that there will be a sequel and/or other books by Ms Morgan along the lines of The Sorcerer's Confession.
