Charles and Kate return in the second volume of THE SORCERER series: here to engage newcomers and prior fans alike. For the record: Charles is a 200-year-old ghost - a sexy one at that - and California mystery writer Katherine is his cohort. Charles has special powers for a ghost; he can time travel, take over bodies, and either heal or harm.

He's a reformed ghost now interested in doing right - and his brother has drawn him into the world of mass murder and redemption, a mission that will challenge and change his purposes...

Complicating his purposes is Katherine, his worldly lover, whose husband has just died...

From the Middle East and politics to lessons learned in the Afterlife about heaven and hell, Charles and Katherine's romance blossoms and reveals more insights on the nature of being ("With the help of Dante's imaginative work, the Catholic Church sold Hell as a piece of real estate to its adherents. I've searched high and low for Hell. I went to the center of the earth and found it hot, but no devil. I toured around the universe and found only outer space.")

What makes THE SORCERER'S PROMISE stand out from the crowd is an attention to romance, interpersonal interaction, and a focus on healing rifts and bettering the universe - all packaged in the moving story of a ghost searching for meaning and purpose in both good and evil forces.

Add poetic language and Katherine's evolution from a corporal entity to Charles' companion and you have a fine, riveting read recommended for fantasy and romance enthusiasts alike!

Product Description

Charles Sutton, ghost, has been around for more than 200 years. He has been and can be anything he wants. He can harm or heal at his sole discretion; travel anywhere on the planet within a heartbeat, see beyond space and time, and take over any living body without being noticed. Although he has all the powers of a dedicated sorcerer, Sutton battles demons but no longer uses them to harm mortals. He is still the sexy villain we love to forgive.

In this 2nd book in The Sorcerer Series, Kate invites Sutton, the ghost, back into her life when a hospital mistake takes the life of her husband, Glen.

Together they explore more of Sutton's impossible past and Kate's present life. From the cold mountains of Afghanistan to the warm waters of Montserrat, it is a tale of love, hate, sex, assassinations, loss and redemption.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved this continuation of the Sorcerer's Series & Charles Sutton's Life!, October 30, 2011
This review is from: THE SORCERER'S PROMISE (Kindle Edition)
A decade after the events of "The Sorcerer's Confession," we return to Charles Sutton's world again, to learn more of his story. Charles can be anyone, do almost anything - heal or harm with a thought. What he cannot seem to do is to escape the clutches of the Master Demon, who has been trying to own Charles for centuries. Can Charles finally escape his clutches?

It was great to continue Charles' story - the characters continue to be real to the reader, and this story builds upon the previous one. **edit** please note re: the following sentence that I have been informed that the Smashwords edition does not match the final edition as it was to be published. The author is planning to fix it and put up a new edition.**end edit** I will mention, however, that this book was not as well-edited as the previous one - there were numerous instances of misused words, the wrong form of a homonym, and punctuation errors, as well as missing and extra words. It was not enough to mark off a star, but it was enough to be somewhat distracting. While the plot flows smoothly and the story reads well, it could do with a final proof/copy-editing to smooth those last rough edges. However, again, this book is filled with fascinating insights into the human condition and interesting metaphysical tid-bits that I feel are important to those searching for truth. Be sure to get your hands on this wonderful duo of books and enjoy the read!

5.0 out of 5 stars From Midwest Book Reviews, November 12, 2011

THE SORCERER'S PROMISE: Susannah Morgan
Kindle edition: 9780983663003 www.amazon.com

Midwest Book Reviews is published monthly. I received this from them in early October 2011.

"Charles and Kate return in the second volume of THE SORCERER series: here to engage newcomers and prior fans alike. For the record: Charles is a 200-year-old ghost - a sexy one at that - and California mystery writer Katherine is his cohort. Charles has special powers for a ghost; he can time travel, take over bodies, and either heal or harm.

His talents are now modified: he chooses to not use demons, and so when he returns to Katherine's life, it's with quite a different purpose. He's a reformed ghost now interested in doing right - and his brother has drawn him into the world of mass murder and redemption, a mission that will challenge and change his purposes.

Complicating his purposes is Katherine, his worldly lover, whose husband has just died. A hospital mistake makes her a widow - but since there is an afterlife, Glen isn't really dead...

Charles becomes involved in a complicated mission juxtaposing romance with struggle when his brother decides to take on a righteous cause - and leaves Charles the caretaker of his earthly body.

From the Middle East and politics to lessons learned in the Afterlife about heaven and hell, Charles and Katherine's romance blossoms and reveals more insights on the nature of being: "With the help of Dante's imaginative work, the Catholic Church sold Hell as a piece of real estate to its adherents. I've searched high and low for Hell. I went to the center of the earth and found it hot, but no devil. I toured around the universe and found only outer space."

More About the Author

Susannah Morgan was born in Toronto, Canada, as the first child of four. She has explored philosophies and religions beginning with the Anglican Church as a child. Her journey to writing THE SORCERER'S CONFESSION has taken her through the gamut of associations from New Agers, Druids and Buddhists to Jesuit priests and Asian healers.

THE SORCERER'S CONFESSION was originally published by a small company in 1998 that went out of business. It has become somewhat of a cult classic in that copies are read and loaned on the average of 5 times per book. The original print run is now being sold as a Limited First Edition.

Following the advice of John Locke, an excellent Kindle writer, who is extremely well read, Susannah has published the Kindle edition of THE SORCERER'S CONFESSION at 99c.

She says, "The purpose of writing is to be read. I want to make my work easily affordable for readers."

Susannah's concept behind her protagonist, Charles Sutton, sorcerer and ghost, is that human foibles are small in comparison to his crimes; that the road to enlightenment may be long and steep, but it does end.

The second book in THE SORCERER SERIES, THE SORCERER'S PROMISE, is now available on Kindle.
