The pearls are slightly squishy so it is very comfortable against the skin.

The elastic strap with Velcro allows it to be wrapped around an appendage of any size and it stays cold long enough for me to treat both knees.

After a full day in the freezer, it's barely cold when I take it out and within 15 minutes it's room temperature.

I hurt my knee, standing up quickly from a cross legged position. My knee swelled and finally I went to see an ortho to find out what was going on. I was sent for an MRI and found a torn meniscus and Baker's Cyst - very painful. My doctor said ice my knee 2-3 times per day. I have to have surgery on my knee, but in the meantime I am using this ice pack. It is the perfect size and the strap helps to keep it in the exact place you need it. It didn't sweat or melt like other products or ice, and it stayed cold for the full 20 minutes I was told to ice my knee for! I used this exact ice pack. Definitely would recommend!

A couple of years ago, in order to get something cold to contour to my neck or knees, I would use a pack of frozen peas! It wasn't long before several manufacturers came out with packaged small beads that could be microwaved or frozen for the purpose. In a way, Thera Pearl deserves another star for adding the Velcro strap to their contour pack.

I used the pack on my knee after heating the pack for 35 seconds (NOTE: follow the timing recommended depending upon the wattage of your microwave: ours is only 750 watts; some are 1,500). I strapped it on, and adjusted it to cover the usual place(s) that ache after a hike. Initially, it felt a little too hot, but that only lasts seconds. I also used it on my cheek after a dentist visit (no Velcro, of course). Basically, it works.

However,I do wish it was either an inch larger or that they sold a "set" with a small oval like this, and then a long narrower (3-4") band to wrap around my neck. Further, I think it could be packed with more beads to, say 3/4 full rather than 1/2.

This is quite a bit cheaper than the one from CVS and works about as well.

I found these THERA°PEARL packs to be a nice option for spot ice/heat therapy. They definitely won't measure up well to a full-fledged ice pack or larger gel pack, but they're well-designed for shorter timeframes on smaller joints. For instance, I had a twinge on my wrist, and these were perfect for the size and placement on the joint. I was good for about 15 - 20 minutes of "ice", and by then I was ready to move on anyway.

I figure I'll have these in my freezer "just in case" I need them. With a couple of the packs, I'm set for 30 minutes of ice just where I need it.

A few months ago I've discovered the Thera Pearl line of products, and they have since been my favorite way of temporarily soothing sore muscles and joints. Their innovative design of small gel beads suspended in highly viscous fluid makes them a very effective gel packs. When frozen they tend to be less rigid than the other gel packs that I've tested, without compromising on the soothing action.

I have a few on and off issues with my wrists, and a small cold therapy seems to sooth the pain and decrease the symptoms. This cold pack is fairly small and well made. I've only used it for cold therapy, and had primarily put it in the freezer before use. However, the deep freeze is an overkill, and I had to put a piece of cloth between my wrist and the pack. The pack is on a small side, and after about five to ten minutes it loses most of its coldness. I really would have preferred a much larger pack for my joints in general. The pack features an elastic band, which works fine, but it doesn't look too durable. I have enjoyed the cold therapy for my wrist and will continue using it. The other Thera Pearl products that I've used have been very durable (even withstanding a few really rough treatment by my toddler), and I expect that this pack will also last me for a while, unless the elastic band gives in at some point

I've got an elbow that I need to put heat on once in a while and my wife has migraine headaches and gets some relief by placing a cold pack on her forehead when lying down, This Thera Pearl Contour Pack works in both situations.

It's a vinyl pouch sized about 7" long and 4" wide. The pouch is filled with lots of BB-sized liquid filled balls. There's an attached velcro strap about 7" long that stretches to about 11". The velcro strap makes it easy to wrap this around an elbow, wrist or knee and then keep it in position for the amount of time necessary.

The volume of the pack is smallish and therefore the pack simply cannot stay hot or cold for very long. It is convenient to use however and you don't need to necessarily wrap a towel or anything around the pack... just place it directly on the area that needs therapy. For use on the forehead, you don't use the strap so just lay it directly on the forehead.

It seems well made and the straps are attached securely to the pack.

If I were to use these regularly, I'd probably make sure I had at least 2 of them so I could get another ready to go while one was in use. I do find the heat therapy to be quite short and the pack loses most of the heat in just 5-6 minutes. As a cold pack, it will last 15-20 minutes before losing most of its cooling ability.

It's easy to use and easy to clean after use. I'd say it works more effectively as a cold pack than a hot pack simply because it stays cool longer than it stays warm.

I was provided a free sample for review.
