The Sensory University weighted blanket is professionally manufactured to therapists standards. Our blankets have a weight of 8 lbs and are 45 x 60 inches. This is the maximum weight offered to prevent suffocation hazards. Unlike less expensive blankets, our blankets are double insulated to prevent the sound of beads moving as this is a huge distraction to children with sensory disorders.
This blanket can be used as a bed blanket, a wrap around, or it can even be doubled to use as a large weighted pad or shoulder weight. We offer the blanket in two color combinations. Double blue for complete calming, or blue / red which can be used as a calming agent on one side, and a great source of visual stimulation on the other. Many children with sensory issues are extremely attracted to the color red, while the color blue seems to create an instant calming sensation. The blue / red combo give you the best of both worlds, and has the same soft texture on both sides. We offer the double blue color for children who just can't handle vibrant colors.

Do not purchase from this company!!! I ordered this blanket in October for my son who suffers from Asperger’s and has trouble sleeping at night. It is now December and we have still not received the blanket. After waiting over a month, I gave this blanket a negative rating. The company emailed me and asked me to remove the negative rating. They promised that in return, they would ship me the blanket for free. I removed the negative rating. They charged me for the blanket and never sent the blanket. It is now December. I have sent the company several emails. They have not returned my emails. I have called the general manager. He did not return my call. My son asks about his blanket every day. I am working with my credit card company to have the charges reversed. In all our years with Amazon we have had nothing but positive experiences. I cannot express how very disappointed we are with The Sensory University.

I am a school social worker and work with many autism spectrum kids. I have been familiar with the blankets at work and wanted one for myself to 'de-stress' at the end of the day. This blanket is really a superior product. Very well made (I am wrapped up in it now at my computer) feels great, wonderful quality. Much nicer than many other products that I have ordered at work.

This weighted blanket seems to be helping my sensory defensive teenage son sleep a little better. The construction and quality are as claimed. The weights are quiet. I haven't washed it yet so I can't predict how well it will hold up long term.

Was happy with this weighted blanket after a bit of a "wait." It's soft and it's weight will help my son sleep at night. Is well constructed, and should hold up to alot of use.

I am looking for a weighted blanket for my son. I am tempted to purchase this one except that the description only states it is the "recommended" size. Since I don't know what that is I will have to look somewhere else.
