5.0 out of 5 stars LED, only 29 watts, 1920x1200 in 24" and, 3-yr. warranty . ., September 12, 2009

This review is from: THINKVISION L2440X - FLAT PANEL DISPLAY - TFT ACTIVE MATRIX - 24 INCH - 192 (Electronics)
Terrific monitor, have had it for 2 months. Size, fast response, sharp colors, never a significant problem.

When deciding, I was only looking for 24" and 1920 x 1200 (1900 is more common), but when I read "LED", (the "X" in L2440X), not "LCD", I was hooked.
LED is the wave of the future in general lighting, but outrageously expensive today, for light bulbs, and I thought also for monitors. This is reportedly mercury & arsenic-free, and consumes only 29 watts, or < 1 watt in "sleep" mode, all thanks to LED.

Some reviews said the stand lacked vertical adjustment, but there is about 4" of vertical adjustment. One oddity: I couldn't rotate the screen 90 degrees, to a vertical aspect, by following the instructions. Perhaps instructions were written for smaller models, and I could have disassembled, reassembled - but I didn't need Vertical anyway. The screen has no dead pixels that I've found, and only 2 issues, covered in other reviews (here or elsewhere): the right side of the screen, maybe 3/4 inch from top to botton, fades out to dark at the edge. It hasn't bothered me, and I haven't tried to fix it via adjustments or a new driver. 2nd problem, distinctly less noticeable: if I look for it, I can see horizontal bands, slightly diagonal, which "roll up", when background color is light green or white (or other light shade?). Sometimes when I work in another window, and then go back to look for these, I can't see the rolling or bands.

Other reviewers have noted that this, like the L2440P (LCD version), are made with a "TN panel" which has limitations that are cured in higher-end monitors, costing $2k or more, by using an alternative to "TN panel". This is configured as the Primary screen for my laptop, and each screen has the same Desktop Background. I can extend a "window", e.g. Firefox, across both screens, although too-tall windows lose their bottom part on the laptop's lower-res display.
