I have read all but one of Ms. Pettersen's books and loved them. However, this one is my favorite so far. Jenna is adorable and a breath of fresh air. I loved her down-to-earthiness. Her love interest, Burke, is a mixture of uptight, kind, steely, sexy, hunky, and also adorable in an alpha-male sort of way that makes one's heart pound. The ending of the book had me breathless and, dang, the battery on my Kindle ran out and I had to recharge it. Anyway, I finished the book with my heart in my throat. Kudos to Ms. Pettersen!

This is my first book by Bev Pettersen, and I've already downloaded another to my Kindle. I loved this book. I'd rate it one of my best reads this year. The characters are so real, so complex. They each have their own ways of thinking, each believing they are right, and of course they clash. Burke and Jenna are a great hero and heroine, full of charm, but both troubled souls in their own ways. It was wonderful watching them get together and slowly come to terms with their differences, and similarities. The secondary characters are equally well developed and I'd love to read more about Jenna's sister. Maybe she can get together with the poor lovesick vet? The horsey setting appeals to me as well and all the details about equine treatment were interesting without being overdone. Great story and one I highly recommend.

A delightful romance with captivating characters, who are totally different. Jenna is generous, spontaneous, and speaks her own mind. She's hardly able to support herself and her sister, and yet manages to help everyone around. Burke is the alpha hero over and over, authoritative, strict, and thoroughly honest. Yet he can't help falling for the sassy Jenna from the minute he catches her stealing vitamins to save her pony. They continuously clash during hilarious situations that often turn emotional or highly sensual. Ms. Pettersen's writing is a pleasure to read, down-to-earth and so appropriate to the cast of characters. Although I am not a horse person at all, the author managed to make me love the pony, Peanut and, the Derby winner, Nifty. I highly recommend this book and the author.
