Monkey Preschool Lunchbox
Find the matching piece of fruit

From the encouraging monkey laughing and turning somersaults to the playful music and sound effects, it's easy to get drawn into this game and smile. With a continuous series of mini-games, kids are repeatedly challenged to identify colors, letters, numbers, and shapes in different and exciting ways.

Match the Fruit

Can you remember which fruit is where as you uncover tiles and look for matches? Can you put the colorful puzzle pieces back into their rightful shape? Can you pick out all the red fruit? There are six varieties of mini-games in total, and they all change with each play. As one ends another begins, providing a nonstop and entertaining learning environment.

Educational and Fun

An animated monkey provides cheerful encouragement with facial expressions and energetic somersaults as you proceed from game to game. Meanwhile, a friendly voice narrates the questions and your choices, all the while accompanied by calypso music. And best of all, every time you win a few in a row, you get to choose a cartoon sticker and place it on your very own sticker board. As you keep winning, the stickers keep building. Lots of fun!

4.0 out of 5 stars Best Preschool App yet March 25, 2011
Monkey Preschool Lunchbox consists of various games from counting, matching, and puzzles. I have a 18 month old and a 4 year old have they have been playing it for ages. The games are randomized and once you complete a set you child can pick a sticker. Then the whole process starts over, so your child can collect a mountain of stickers. I own this game on the iPhone 4, iPod, and Droid X, and I do believe that the versions on the iPhone/iPod are slightly superior than that of the android OS. Here is a breakdown of some of the games.

MATCHING

This is a basic matching game where your child will match up the fruit. There are 8 cards total that need to be turned over. This game is too hard for my 18 month old son, as he grows inpatient and gets me to help him with it. My daughter thought the game was too easy even when she was three. While the game is simple, I found myself loving it.

COUNTING

This game displays fruit on the screen and your child has to count them. It will say something like, "We need 8 grapes", then it will display 8 grapes on the screen, and your child will touch the grapes as the game counts the fruit. This game has taught my son how to count to 10, and my daughter learned to associate numbers with objects via this game.

COLOURS

This game asks you to touch all the fruit of a certain colour. If your child touches a fruit of a different colour, it tells them the colour of the fruit that they touched. It also displayes the colour that the need to touch so they can look at the colour and see it.

Letters

This is basically the same as the colour games except that they ask you to touch the fruit which starts with a certain letter. They show the fruit, and spell them out. They also show which letter it is that they want you to look for. I didn't think that my 18 month old son would be able to do this game, but he easily does this game.

SPOT THE DIFFERENCE

This game consists of things like touch the smallest fruit, touch the largest fruit, touch the fruit which is different. It displays four fruits on the screen and you have to select the one it asks for. My 18 month child just touches all the fruit until he gets the right one.

PUZZLE

A game where the fruit has broken up into pieces and you have to put them back together. It is a basic puzzle with four pieces. This is my 18 month old's favourite game, and I enjoy seeing him do it.

SHAPES

This is a new game they just added with the last update, and it is basically just like the other games except it asks for a shape. It shows the shape and asks the child to select it from a set of four.

The game does not track statistics about what your child is good at in like leapfrog, neither do the games get progressively harder based upon how easily your child goes through the levels. It is just basic repetition, but to my amazement my children can play it for hours. I have had to use this game to keep them occupied while I had to take them out, and every time it keeps them busy for hours. (This is why I own this game on every device that I own)

Even though I do love this game and highly recommend it to everyone, I can only give it four stars as there was an update recently which disable multitouch for the game. I know that it doesn't seem like much to complain about my 18 month old doesn't know how to hold the phone so that his fingers don't touch the screen, so now the game doesn't respond when he is trying to interact with the game. So your child has to hold the phone on the sides or underneath in order to play this game.

5.0 out of 5 stars Internet connection needed to play...... February 5, 2012

The app itself is great. My 2yo can't get enough. Its easy so she can play without help and it keeps her attention. The biggest drawbak is that it doesn't work if there is no connection to the internet. WHY in the world would you need a connection for a basic puzzle/sorting game??? Which makes it useless for the car rides for us (we run it on Kindle Fire). It is a huge bummer for my daughter.

Update: I am not sure if there was an update or something, but the app works offline now. Five stars!!

Kids seems to like it, but doesn't play very much. The best part is typing extra words to make sure this fills up the area, like doing an essay or something.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good stuff!!
Nice and simple the only complaint is if the company will give parents an option to get more content as after a while the challenges do become repetitive.
