Well, maybe # 7 is lucky for Saeed & Palash lately, but that luck is combined with the fact that they have paid their dues for many years, by producing some of the best and most sought-after single dance mixes and remixes this side of the Atlantic. They are already worshipped in places like The U.K. and Ibiza, but their new 2-CD set should convince most folks that they are fierce, and at the cutting edge of creating near-perfect continuous dance mixes as well! Hailing from Washington DC, I think they are at the top of the stack of Tech House/Tribal/Progressive innovators. Most importantly, both Saeed & Palash, in this EXCELLENT release demonstrate two key things. They are geniuses in selecting wonderful, challenging tracks that flow well together, and they are both experts in very smooth mixing!! The current rage in dance music (other than D& B, and Deep, Soulful House) is harder Progressive/Tech House, with bits of Trance thrown in at times.
Saeed & Palash have learned well from the masters of this genre: particularly Danny Tenaglia, Deep Dish, Steve Lawler, Anthony Pappa, and many, many others. And.... obviously they have been LISTENING to the current pulse very well, as their music is so enjoyable even on the first listen!

Saeed starts the first CD off marvelously, wasting no time in setting a deep, DARK, tribal mood from the start, with GREAT beats! "Ocean of Blue" establishes that WICKED, intimate feel early on, and Saeed's progression from there-on is very smooth, compelling, and very sexy at times! His approach is a bit more Deep House than Palash's, but that is fine, as they both complement each other on their approaches. Saeed in this CD is a genius in track selection; his selection of tunes is a bit more familiar than Palash's. You never lose the impression this is a LATE night at the club, after the groove has been established!! 3 outstanding tracks come to mind, his mix into "Word Unspoken" (Devol Remix) is brilliant!! This newer mix, which I believe is from their own label, is brilliant in establishing this already classic track into an underground anthem for the year! "Give me Fierce" has the repeating female vocal saying Underground...which is reminiscent of old school deep House a la Vasquez...This segues flawlessly into their own remix of "U Need It" . Classic Tribal at its best!! And.... the track "Tribal Tension" is an amazing gem selected by Saeed! It incorporates dubbed "disco orchestra" sounds as if they are going in reverse loops, and even a delightful music interlude...Brilliant!!

Overall, Saeed's disc leads right into Palash's mix (as if it was at the club). CD2 at times is a bit more Progressive -- using more melodic synthesizer with "trance" qualities, and use of more "modern" metallic rhythm intruments. I sometimes call this Space Tribal. And Yes!, there is a repeating theme in this CD: Palash intersperses some vocals highlighting the use of the word "Space". The very first female vocal starts with the word Space. I think Palash's approach is similar to the "circular" manner that Danny Tenaglia composes his music journeys. It is as if we have come full circle from Saeed's more "Jungle" sound (yes, Saeed even has the track "Amazonia" which is a fierce song complete with big cougar sounds) to a "bigger" spacey sound on CD 2.. One of the highlights of the Palash mix is "Space" This is a SMASH song complete with relentless, rolling hypnotic drums, and the repeating lines, " I wanna go to Space, Space is the Place!". Space COULD be the club in Ibiza being referred to! The male vocal is scarily similar to a big hit of 2000, called "Roaches". Another stunner is the track called "Six". This could be a sleeper, but the second half bursts into a high energy anthem that features the same chordal changes as the theme from "Close Encounters" and its modern dance version: Sven Vath's Barbarella (Deep Dish Remix) Unbelievable!

So, to conclude, this is a SMASH release from what I call two Masters of the Tribal/ Tech House arena. Masterful selections in music are combined with Great Flow in their "journeys" from beginning to end!

Oooofta....Saeed & Palash have really packed a lot of powerhouse, sinister tunes in this 2 cd set. This is house music on the edge....its deepest darkest edge....the stuff all the bad boys and girls are listening too!! I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say this is a landmark house recording and a must have in any collection !! And, disc 2 could well be the new gold standard for hard, dark house music. There are nuggets of tribal and more than a dash of trance ! The best part is that both cd's give you that "inside the club" feel.....well,actually more like a dark warehouse with 5000 people boucing and moving to the beats....the speakers are turned up loud and hard and beams of green light pierce through the smokey darkness......hold me daddy, I'm afraid.....and you will be too ! Great for parties, saturday night warm-ups, the ride home from a great night/morning out, friday afternoon rush hour and for spicing up that bland house collection of cds you now own! Five lollies all the way !

Its deep, its dark, its tribal, its hypnotic and sexy, its exotic sounding--this is the best dark tribal/house/trance record of the year. S&P are two veteran DJ producers, and sadly, this is the only full length mix of theirs avaiable, although after the success of this pulsing monster, there must be another on the way. To heck with telling you S&Ps bio, or about this track or that, let me tell you how it feels.

Superb chunky rhythms, and deep, warping, chunky, bongo like, gritty beats--making the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end. The drums dominate here and this music gallops and leaps, and pushes you on, the steadily growing pace ont both CDs lightens the darkness, or perhaps, makes it more compelling. Grinding, whooshing, spooky keyboard washes support the beats. The percussion breathes, gasps and heaves like two people,... well, you know. This mix is all about texture, you can feel the texture of the groove, rich deep, gritty, with a lot of swirling space on top.

As a results its glow sticks down everyone. There are no cheesy "Tall Pall"/Goa trance synth riffs, minimal "clapp, clapp, clappity, clap" percussion effects of candy trance here; no monotonous "tick-tick-tick" of ordinary house, and no holiday club anthems. S and P create a unique exotic blend of deep primarily tribal, house/trance. This is on heavy rotation in the car and I never tire of it, the beats have that certain magic that gives you a little chill or thrill, when cranked up loud.

Indeed, Saeed and Palash bring a distinctively eastern feel to the rhythms here, creating interesting beat arrangements that move beyond "thump-thump-thump". Many of the S&P track selections here emphasize a galloping beat rhythm, chunky tom tom/bongo sounds, and complex beat structures found in eastern music, and it works perfectly. Consequently, every track sounds fresh, interesting and utterly engaging on first blush. This dark mix is livened by some judicious vocal dubs and effects. Hear the treatment of the well known BlackWatch track (CD1, track) 3 and compare that to Deep Dish's version on Moscow, to see what I mean. And since I am straying into tracks, the S&P mix of Lee Coombs "Tribal Tension" is an absolute masterpiece.

For what its worth Saeed authors one CD and Palash the second, although there are no real significant differences, possible Palash is more housey and slightly less inventive than Saeed who is more trance, but there is more common in the distinctive sound than not. No need to ask: "Are you a Saeed, or a Palash?"

S&P have saved the tribal end of deep and dark to the same degree that Max Graham's grossly underrated Quivver release (transport) saved the house/trance end of deep and dark. S&P rate right up there with tribal drum master Steve Lawler. This is subterranean deep, noir, pulsing, chunky, and oh, so, sexy. The best deep groove of the year, and thus it gets 5 stars for leading its genre.

They are insane! This double disc set sets the standard for nasty, dark tribal house music. From start to finish, disc 1 all the way through disc 2, these guys don't let up. There is no easy take-off or smooth landing like so many mixes seem to have, rather when disc 1 starts you feel like you've just paid cover and walked through the club door right smack in the middle of one bad-... set of sick progressive house. Evil, sexy beats grab you and don't let go for nearly 2 hours straight. If you like tribal house, you have GOT to get this album.

This CD is terrific! I love the mix of "U Need It". These guys are great - I'm excited to see they are touring all around the US and UK; I will definitely catch one of their shows this summer!!

because this CD will rock you. Both are excellent, although I prefer CD2.. Tracks 5 & 6...whoa. If you like it dark & tribal, this is THE CD TO GET.

Boy I am glad I happened upon this CD. I was looking through Amazon's new releases and saw this CD. After reading the two reviews that were already here, it sounded like a CD I'd like.

So when I was out at a record store, I saw this CD and picked it up. I've listened to a little bit of CD1 and it seemed really good, but I haven't really listened to it enough to give an accurate opinion on it. It did sound nice, deep, and very sexy.

CD2 however is brilliant! I haven't listened to CD1 because I cannot get off of CD2. From start to finish, this pumps out some serious tunes. Track 4, Fabb'X - Driving License is outstanding. Track 6, Sub Project - Space is equally amazing. Track 9, Oliver Klein - Rheinkraft is mind, speaker, and dancefloor blowing.

Perhaps I'll edit my review after I've given CD1 a good listen-over, however for the price... you really can't beat this, even just for CD2.

Simply get lost in the sound of Saeed & Palash...

Especially CD no2 is just a "must" for all progressive house listeners. Starts right away, with a nice intro and continues into the rythm of the well-known Saeed & Palash. It's not dull nor colourless, it has ups and downs but its main target is to make you dance and never stop! Could also use it for a home party haha.

This CD is so good that it stands beyond the power of money, so buy it...

I dont have a whole lot to say about this album, it is quite simply one of the best albums I have ever heard. Saeed and Palash are masters at what they do, banging track after banging track, do yourself a favor pick up anything with their name attached to it, Tide:edit 07 is awsome. You might also check out some releases by deep dish such as global underground Toronto or Moscow

Do you like getting goosebumps or chills while listening to great music? If so, this album is for you. God!! This album ROCKS! It's got fantastic basslines, awesome vocals and killer intensity. For the reviewers who said CD1 is not that good, you should have a second listen. For the pure intelligence, creative mixing and excellent track selection, this album deserves a well-earned 5.
