I'm just your average middle class father/husband, but who's had major hair product experience (Thanks to an aunt that worked at Sally's Beauty and a sister who's a professional stylist/esthetician!) and knows what he wants in a hair product. And that is:

- MATTE FINISH! This has to be the most important. I want my hair to look natural, but maybe even give it that flat iron look without having to straighten it. There are many that claim to have a matte finish, but very few are true matte.

- NO CRUNCH! Nothing says "I haven't moved past 90's fashion" more than wearing socks with shorts....oh and hard, crunchy hair!! Probably plastered with L.A. Looks gel, and maybe topped off with some Aqua Net.

- LASTING HOLD! I know it's hard to ask for a lasting hold from a non-gel product, but it CAN be done people. This product is proof. It lasts alllllll day. I put this stuff on at about 7:00AM every morning and my hair keeps its shape until I go to bed. Granted I only wash my hair with shampoo on Saturdays...that might help too I guess.

- CHEAP! Ok so this product doesn't get 5 stars for price, but it's not as expensive as others I've tried and as of right now (06/28/12) on Amazon its under $15. That's a price I can justify not spending on my daughter or wife. And last, but not least...

- DOESN'T SMELL LIKE A DOUCHEBAG! Yeah. Back in 2010, I was economically forced to purchase....an AXE product! Ewwww, I know. I know. I cringe just saying that name. But I got the "messy look" paste and it actually wasn't THAT bad. It's biggest flaw was one that should've been an obvious one: it reeked of butt and douchiness. I started using this after a buddy of mine recommended it for me. Up until very recently, I’ve always worn my hair in a buzz, so I’ve had very little need for hair products. I grew my hair out and discovered that I really need to put something in my hair in the morning, otherwise I’ll look like a muppet by lunch. So I ordered the TIGI wax and started using it, and whoa—it made such a huge difference in the way my hair looks. It’s easy to use, and not too greasy, and it held for a few hours before it started to waver. The only problem with it is that one day, when it was particularly hot, I started sweating profusely, and the wax started melting down my face. The next day, I woke up with pimples all over, and it was awful. Luckily for me, my girlfriend gave me some of her TreeActiv Anti Acne & Rosacea Treatment Sulfur Mask Plus Rhassoul, Bentonite Clay Mask with Witch Hazel & Aloe Vera - Refreshing Lemon Scent (1 Jar) (8 Oz) which was really helpful in getting rid of the acne on my face. Basically, I’ve had to learn to use much less of the wax when it’s really hot, as it breaks me out, but aside from that it works famously. In regards to the mask, I just use it as a face scrub and I get rid of all my acne and blackheads that way. Also, the brand has a TreeActiv+ Tea Tree Oil Acne Solution for Advanced Acne Treatment - All Natural Acne Spot Treatment - Blemishes Gone or Your Money Back! Probably my favorite hair styling product ever. I love how it makes my hair look, and how long the hold lasts. It's a nice soft looking hold, but very durable, except if you ride motorcycles, cause it can't handle that, but it's easy to fix post-ride. I recently switched from American Crew defining paste, and I like this one better cause it doesn't give your hair that oily or greasy look. It's not too hard to wash off your hands, easy to apply, smells great (reminds me of Abercrombie Fierce) after its applied. Very happy I made the switch! The actual wax itself is legit, it's not a rip-off like other reviews state. I was recommended this product by a girl at a salon, and the way it leaves my hair is identical as it was in the salon, so I know it's the real stuff, except it's nowhere near as much as they charge at salons for it. Very happy with my purchase.

To be honest I hate using this wax. I don't look forward to mornings where I know I'm going to need to style my hair for work. It is very thick and difficult to apply, and seems to make my curly hair a total mess. Once the wax is applied there also isn't much I can do to sculpt or style it.

It definitely is correct in it's description of being a matte wax. The hold was also strong as advertised - a little goes a long way. It also has a nice smell to it. I didn't rate this one star because I recognize that this product could work for people with straighter or lighter hair

To those with curly, frizzy or messy hair: I would definitely avoid this wax and spend a little more money to get something like J Beverly Clear Wax. It's just way easier to apply and you get better results.
