I finished reading this book in three days, it was such a good, quick read. The beginning of the book tells about Mr. Lincolns' life and step by step through the Civil War with a map. Yes, I knew of how Mr. Lincoln was killed, but these two authors went deeper by telling how his murderer thought and planned every aspect. The end of the book tells what happened to all the people involved. There are many black and white pictures throughout. Its a good read for teenagers throught adults who are interested in history.

I've read many books about the Great Abraham Lincoln, and bought this one for the pictures and portraits only. Although those drawings and pictures add beautifully to the texts, I was pleasantly surprise with the writings depth of the book.

The early years, the days of railsplittings, his formative years of landsurveying, his love of knowledge and reading, his work as a lawyer on the Illinois circuit court and his days as President of the United States are explained in a short yet informative way.

I would say that this book is the ideal first step for someone who wish to know what was Abraham Lincoln all about. If you like what you read, and you will, you'll want to go deeper and read for instance "Teams of Rivals" by Doris Goodwin or "A. Lincoln" by Ronald C White.

Not a heavy read at all, "Time Abraham Lincoln" would be the perfect gift to offer a friend who's interested in US politics but always comes up with some excuses for not having the time to read!

I have three or four books on Lincoln & bought this one to put some illustrations to my collection. I got that & more. This is a great book to start with for those just getting interested in the man & his times. It tackles the myths about Lincoln without diminishing his character or accomplishments. He was so much more than the Civil War. Easy to read & worth the purchase.
