4.0 out of 5 stars Wish I'd been able to try them first...
The Good:

* I couldn't find these in bricks-and-mortar stores at all, and it was a relief to purchase them affordably through a vendor I trust.

* The 1-lb weight inserts make it easy to adjust the weight, with the cuff on or off.

* I have been using them for about two weeks, and the effect on my workout - and my legs - is tremendous...

will tear at the bottom of the weight slots if you plan on being somewhat active when using these. I returned mine within 4 uses.

The Good:

* I couldn't find these in bricks-and-mortar stores at all, and it was a relief to purchase them affordably through a vendor I trust.

* The 1-lb weight inserts make it easy to adjust the weight, with the cuff on or off.

* I have been using them for about two weeks, and the effect on my workout - and my legs - is tremendous.

The Bad:

* The cuffs are "adjustable" with two LONG velcro straps that wrap all the way around the ankle. No matter how carefully I wrap them, I just can't get them as tight as I'd like. Straps which wrap double back through D-rings would have been much more useful.

* The cuffs tend to ride down and dig into the tops of my feet. Cushioned by gel or not, I can't exactly call that "comfortable." I'm not sure whether this is specific to this brand, or typical of ankle weight cuffs.

Overall:

I do wish I'd been able to try these and some other brands before I purchased them. However, I'm delighted to have found them and with the results I'm seeing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice Product, February 10, 2009

This is a nice product if you have a one leg injury. Be warned, THIS IS NOT A SET. This is an INDIVIDUAL ankle weight targeted for those with a one sided injury.

The metal bars are great because the other adjustable ankle weights with the little bags will eventually leak a coal like filling. These solid metal bars will not give you that problem. If you have the type with the bags and they began to leak, you can replace them with the metal bars from this product.

The double strap is very nice because it keeps the weight on without the straps twisting out of place like the single straps.

This product is worth getting but remember it's not a set.

5.0 out of 5 stars Expensive but very good, May 14, 2007

I wear these ankle weights on my wrists. I have to staple the tops shut to keep the weights in, but they take a lot of abuse as I'm waving my arms around. These are the only weights I've found to meet this demanding application. I purchased a second pair after wearing out the first by clapping my hands and banging the weights. Without that mishandling they would have lasted much longer than my three+ years of twice weekly wear. They hold very securely.

5.0 out of 5 stars TKO 220AS ankle weights - 20 lbs., October 6, 2008
This review is from: Individual Rehab Ankle Weights (Sports)
A friend had turned me unto the book, "Strong Women Stay Young". The author recommends women buy adjustable ankle weights up to 20 pounds for each leg. I had the hardest time finding them and finally went online.

I have been exercising for a while, so I found that I needed to start at 10 lbs. These have one pound weights that can be added one at a time so I will be able to add weight as I get stronger. They are quite comfortable. I prefer to wear socks underneath. Do not walk around with them on your ankles. That is not what they are designed for.

These will last me forever!

3.0 out of 5 stars TKO ankle weights, February 6, 2007

It's a great product compared to what's available. However, the velcro used to hold the weights in their slots is a little weak. Also, they don't feel secure enough around the ankle (too much wiggle room for me).

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for what I need, May 12, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I have a condition where my right knee cap slides to the right instead of staying central every time I take a step. Extreme exercising actually exacerbated this condition a few months ago. The muscle strengthening exercises prescribed to me in physical therapy is alleviating my pain. As part of my continued physical therapy treatment at home, I purchased this leg weight. I have used it several times now and thus far have no complaints for what I use it for. My exercises cause me to lay on the ground and basically do leg raises. The weights have remained in their little slots and don't fall out as I exercise. I have a pretty small ankle, but the weights fit tightly and doesn't slide up my leg as I raise it. The weight also feels comfortable. I am not convinced that I could use this to run. As long as you keep the weight tight, walking will probably work out fine. I would not use this for your wrists. I think though that the upper arm would work out fine. Lastly, the weights are half pound weights. Two go into each slot.

2.0 out of 5 stars poor quality, April 24, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

As a person with a disability, Velcro hand weights are an important part of my workout regimen. I had purchased one of these hand weights in the past, and had been disappointed by its quality and how soon the individual weight pockets began to rip open. However, I did decide to give it another shot, and ordered another one to replace the one that was falling apart. In less than six months, the pockets began to tear again, and other parts of the stitching began to give way. Unless you are going to be very very careful in using this product, which is difficult if you plan to have any kind of vigorous workout, I would not recommend it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good leg weights to do leg lifts with, July 8, 2008
Very heavy Ankle weights that I use to do leg lifts and abs and lower body excercises with. Weights have tendency to work their way up and out of their pockets, but you just have to puch them back in. Very sturdy and strong.

Used this product for about a month before one of the two straps that holds it to the leg ripped off. Overall design was good - comfortable, flexible - but if it won't stay on your leg it's of zero value.
