5.0 out of 5 stars Great for doing Push-ups
Like other reviewers said these are made of plastic. However that said it's high quality thick plastic, and they never feel weak at all. I weigh more than the two reviewers before me (230lbs or so), but they still feel completely solid, so that shouldn't be any issue at all.

I was a little surprised to discover that they are plastic and assemble like Leggos. They are stable enough for me (180 lbs) but I could see them failing for a big person.

Since they are just molded plastic, I would like to have a wider palm rest to distribute the pressure. The thin foam grip helps a bit.

I don't think the manufacturer put much...

I like these bars for a couple of reasons. One you can lower your body below your hands, providing a workout for different muscles. Second it's a lot easier to put your hand around a nicely padded bar then flat on the floor, so this makes the whole setup easier.

They also break down so you can store them in smaller areas, or even travel with them. You wouldn't think it makes much of a difference, but it does, well worth the money.

5.0 out of 5 stars More effective push-ups, September 25, 2005

Although these push-up bars are made from plastic, they support my 185 lb frame just fine. They make push-ups more effective by allowing you to dip lower. Very comfortable. Great item.

I was surprised when I got these bars and found that they are made out of plastic! However, they have been more than sturdy enough for my frame (145lbs) and foam grips are make pushups very comfortable. They also come apart and lay flat which is very handy for storage.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for P90X, September 20, 2009

There's not much I can say that others haven't. I purchased these for doing P90x Extreme Home Fitness with Tony Horton - Set of 13 Dvds. I've used the Beachbody push up stands that they use in the videos, and the Beach Body PowerStands that they use in P90X Plus Home Fitness Program by Tony Horton (4 DVD's). The differences between all three of these stands is minimal. First of all, the TKO stands are made of high quality plastics, yet feel extremely sturdy to me. Your weight is pushing down on them, so they stay in place and I never feel like they will slide away or move. I have no concerns that the plastic will break. The top simply slides into the base and sits in the base securely. There are no nuts to tighten or clamps to screw down, like the P90x bars. If you want to travel with them, you just pop them out of the base. Much more portable than the P90X stands. I also prefer them because the plastic pads on the bottom won't scratch up my floors like the metal P90X stands.

The P90X bars and the Power Stands are different, because they have an angled handle. Instead of being completely horizontal like these are, it angles up slightly. The claim from Beachbody is that this is done to reduce wrist strain and that "the slight angle of these stands will permit your optimum performance on your routine because of the lesser load on your wrist." I don't know if this is true, but I have never had wrist strain from using these for any of the P90X or P90X Plus workouts.

Overall, I think these are a great set of push-up bars because they are sturdy and durable, yet lightweight and portable. My only concern with them is that the foam grips on the top do not seem very thick, and might degrade after awhile, especially since I am usually pretty sweaty while using them. It's been three months though and they're still holding strong.

I don't think the manufacturer put much effort into this product, but they work and I'm using them.

1.0 out of 5 stars Buy something more durable. Mine cracked after 1 year of use., June 28, 2010

I used these for P90X and both are now cracked in the joints where the feet attach to the body. For a while I thought they performed well but I've done quite a few push ups on them and they just gave out. I will spend my $$ on something more durable.

I'm about 185 pounds, 5'10", for reference. My wife and I both used them at least 3-4x per week.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good product for the price, August 15, 2007
This review is from: TKO Extreme Training Push -up Bars (Sports)
These push up bars are easy to assemble and support my weight at 200lbs. They are not angled though, if you are looking for p/u bars that have a cant to them, try another type. These are fine for me, but I actually prefer to have a 15-20% slope to the bar, takes strain off the wrists. Overall though, good product.

Using these with p90x. Can't believe the difference they make!

Plastic construction, yet very durable and sturdy. Also lightweight and very portable as a result. The grips are comfortable.

I highly recommend these if you are looking for a solid set of push up bars to increase the difficulty and effectiveness of your push up routine, or if you are using the p90x program..

Bought these for my P90X workouts. They're very sturdy, but are a little rough on the hands. That is, the cushioning could be thicker. This is nothing a pair of workout gloves can't fix. Buy these. Affordable and durable.

Nice push-up bars. The ONLY thing I can complain about is that they are plastic and they bend slightly when using them. I would prefer metal. They seem to hold together fine though and I would recommend them.
