Rugged, good for small spaces but..., October 10, 2009
This review is from: TKO Heavy Bag Stand with Adjustable Speedbag Platform (Sports)
I've been using this piece of equipment for 10 years.
Pros:
- Easy, but time consuming setup - break out the tools
- It is rugged and great if you have small spaces
- Holds my 100 lb bag, no problem
Cons:
- Speed bag platform only reinforced down the center. Causes rebound speed differs based on where it hits the platform, and throws off your rhythm. - This is a major issue. Tried using weights or sandbags on top to rectify, but platform shakes too much.
- Platform shakes furiously during a good thrashing, despite being loaded down with weights for stability. I have 200 lbs +/- of weight, plus the 100 lb bag, and I can unload combo's that cause this thing to walk across my linoleum basement floor. It has never fallen over, but certainly moves around.
- Metal frame is cheap. When torquing down the bolts, metal bends.
- Swivel is good enough for learning, but for training...is garbage. I replaced mine with an Everlast Pro Swivel, and the difference is night and day.

Final summary:
Its good for what it is, a consumer level piece of equipment that is more than functional for sporadic use. If you need pro level set up, I would mount a speed bag platform with a good swivel (this swivel sucks) and use this item just to hold the heavy bag.

Awesome deal, quality product., March 8, 2007
This review is from: TKO Heavy Bag Stand with Adjustable Speedbag Platform (Sports)
Bought one about a month ago and couldn't be happier with this choice for a combo bag training stand. The heavy bag end is awesome. The tubing is burley enough to support not only a 100lb. bag, but 220 lb. me at the same time and not flex one bit. The bag bottom tie-downs are in a good location, not too far forward or backward of the bag's top center. The speed bag end works well with a 10x7 on the supplied swivel, otherwise if you prefer smaller or bigger pick up a new swivel for smoother action. Lastly, GET SOME WIGHT! as in four 25lb. plates, times three. The stand has three weight studs to provide more stability when getting out your aggressions. I recommend 25lb plates because if you have a decently wide stance or want to do some angle work, 35 and 40lb. plates make a much smaller footprint to maneuver in. All in all, I feel good about the deal I got on this thing for the durability alone. That's what I wanted, that's what I got. Oh, the paint job is nice too.
