OptiMate 4 - The new benchmark. With weatherproof enclosure and cables rated down to -40 F / C. Unique diagnostic sealed battery optimizer for 12 volt lead-acid (sealed maintenance-free, gel, or filler caps) batteries up to 50Ah. Dual desulfation mode saves neglected batteries other chargers can't. Like all OptiMate models before it, the microprocessor controlled OptiMate 4 can save neglected batteries, but the OptiMate 4 is even more effective, with a new dual-stage Recovery + Turbo Recovery desulfating action. For neglected deep-discharged batteries the Recovery mode engages automatically, while the Turbo Recovery mode engages for more severely neglected batteries. Like all other OptiMates, the OptiMate 4 then charges the battery, verifies that the battery is as fully charged as its basic state of health allows, and then checks for and detects dead battery cells. OptiMate 4 now also has the following new features :-Microprocessor control - 6 step charge program - safe 24/7 storage charge program - recovery + Turbo recovery desulfation recovers neglected batteries other chargers can't. Automatic power loss test - early warning of battery problems - built in wall mounts - SAE weatherproof connector system. But, the most important attribute of the OptiMate 4, as with all OptiMates, is the safe, optimal maintenance of your battery during long term storage, achieved by its gentle maintenance cycle which automatically allows the battery to rest for 30 minutes of each hour of the maintenance cycle while it remains connected. Includes 2 connection accessories : SAE-71 Weatherproof permanent ringlet connector and SAE-74 set of battery clips. Approved to UL and CSA safety standards for battery chargers.

So far, it works great. It seems to be well constructed and charges my batteries as described, however, it might be a little over sensitive with the battery testing cycle. It did correctly diagnose a bad battery but it also diagnosed another working battery as needing replaced. Maybe the battery will eventually need replaced but so far it keeps working without my intervention.

I highly recommend this battery reconditioner/charger! Out of 4 dead motorcycle batteries that wouldn't charge normally, I was able to save 3. The 4th had an internal short and couldn't be repaired. With the cost of motorcycle batteries, this device has paid for itself a few times over already! This was a very good investment.
