After reading some of the other reviews, I was a little concerned that these kick shields might not be quite wide enough. I still bought 4 of them for our dojo because the reviews stressed their great value. The width has proven not to be an issue at all. They are great shields. They are very thick and provide good protection even for our beginning students. And the several handles are more than adequate. I will buy these again.

I ordered this to help me cross train for muay-thai/mma/kickboxing. I am 5'9 and my training partner is 6'5. I was expecting something slightly larger like I've used in the kickboxing studios, and was originally slightly disappointed. What I realized is that this is actually a great size for training basically anywhere (indoor, outdoor, in smaller spaces) and to get one of those dojo sized kick shields, you're going to pay a couple hundred dollars. This pad is durable and extremely versatile. It has a ton of grips for blocking all kinds of kicks, punches, elbows, and knees. I would recommend this for someone who wants to train on a consistent basis, but cannot afford a dojo sized pad. Well worth the money.

Get it! I've looked around and for around $40, this is a great shield. Thick enough and has great strap/handle configuration. Other (often more expensive) shields don't even come close to the strap/handle configuration or have them oddly placed. Very versatile. I also use it as a kick pad, holding the top handle and hanging the shield over my thigh, for partner to practice low (Muay Thai style) kicks. Pretty durable, yet gives great feedback to kicker and receiver. Get it!

this is a solid shield that can withstand full-power muay thai kicks delivered from a 250 lb man. Well worth the price. It also has a whole bunch of handles for holding it in a variety of positions (more than I will ever use).

Been in martial arts for decades and I know what's important in a bag. This has all the quality and functionality. Being a few inches narrower than others means you need to be a bit more careful with a straight on punch. You need to punch it pretty much in a 6 inch center strip down the middle because you don't the want the bag to wiggle sideways to stress your wrist. Other than that minor consideration, we use it for round house punches, hammer blows, fore arm strikes, elbows and knees, palm striking, chops, and of course all manner of kicks. It's easy to hold, firm enough to hold it's shape and feel realistic. No one has mentioned that the cover has a zipper. I suppose you could change out the innards in a few years if you needed to. It also has some brass "vents" around the sides to let air puff out when you hit it so as to not put pressure on the seams. Handles are all over. Couldn't ask for more in a bag.

I use these in my outdoor boot camp class. I have literally had my clients stomping on them, mounting them and punching them, kicks, kicks and more kicks, thrown in and out of my truck and garage and they show very little wear. I bought a few of these to check them out then immediately bought a few more. They have lots of different handles for holding; the standard top, bottom and two side handles as well as straps up and across the back that you can use. They clean up very easy too with a wet cloth.

Having trained for 20 years in both Korean and Japanese arts, I have been in many Dojangs/Dojos and therefore have used lots of hand held kicking bags both as an instructor and student. I purchased this item specifically for working with my teenage boys who are relatively new to the arts. The other reviews were spot on, which is why I bought this item--namely the nice array of hand holds and the very high quality stitching and binding of those grips. I was pleasantly surprised to find velcro on a few of the arm-clamps which makes it very nice when you want to lock the pad in for power kicks--most bags are tough to hold when being hammered on with lunge or full hip engaged round kicks--this bag does not slip when held. This is what I consider a medium duty bag, so it has a softer feel to it, unlike a Muay Thai bag which are hard and designed to take much more punishment. But for the price point this bag is outstanding and is perfect for all around training. I cannot speak to how well it holds up as I have just received it, but I will definitely buy another after giving this one a chance to show its stuff. Osu !
