5.0 out of 5 stars It will definitely improve your flexibility (or make torture victims talk), February 13, 2009
This review is from: Pro Leg Stretcher (Misc.)
I can't look at the Tiger Claw Pro Leg Stretcher (or any leg stretcher for that matter) without the thought of a torture device popping into my head..but that's just me. Am I sick? Possibly.

I bought this stretcher because I have Cerebral Palsy and have very tight hip abductors. Normally only a physical therapist or other helpful person could give me the stretch I needed, and 2-3 times a week isn't nearly enough IMO, I need to do this every day.

The stretcher arrived from Martial Art's Mart very quickly, but in a very shoddily packed box no reinforcement, almost no padding, and just the minimal amount of tape to barely keep the box closed. The box arrived sagging and open a bit. IMO any item of this weight and especially length needs to be in a box that is reinforcement and taped much more. Considering UPS delivered it I'm surprised it wasn't damaged. It was also very dirty upon opening the box. Either from lack of tape and dust getting in, or I suspect just from sitting in their warehouse sans box until I bought it. One of the plastic end caps for a reinforcement bar was also missing, but that's just a decorative and not a functional issue.

Those things aside, which I feel only have to do with the seller, the Tiger Claw Pro Leg Stretcher is built very well. I have no doubt that it will give me decades of use. The only thing I feel I may have to do is lube the "corkscrew" mechanism and cranking wheel as needed, maybe once a year or so, but that's normal to keep it acting smoothly. The action of the leg splints opening and closing is very smooth, with no incremental stops and covers the full range of legs closed to full split to "popping a turkey leg out of the socket". The cranking wheel is removable (just pull it off) so it doesn't get in your way for doing hamstring stretches.

The back is adjustable (just a hinged bar and "speed bump" stops, but more than sturdy) so you can sit fully upright or even lay down if you want. It's also relatively lightweight (about 35lbs I think I read and would guess) and can easily be wheeled and stored in a closet.

4.0 out of 5 stars Leg Strecher, August 25, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Pro Leg Stretcher (Misc.)
This is a good product.

I researched several products before buying this leg stretcher.

Most of the leg stretchers were made cheaply and you had to put the unit together.

This unit came in a very well made box packed very good and completely assembled.

All you had to do was take it out of the box and start using it.

It is made well and works great. I would suggest this product to anyone.

I weigh 210 pounds and am 6'1" tall no problems with this unit.

IT WORKS GREAT

5.0 out of 5 stars Ideal design for leg stretcher, June 30, 2008
By
Tiger Claw's Pro leg stretcher is designed beautifully. Strong metal frame, beefy screw drive system opens and closes as you turn the hefty metal steering wheel. The more you turn, the more it opens...no incremental jumps. It is built well and the seat back adjusts to various positions so you can even lay back while working on your splits. After all, most of us kick standing up, not leaning over!
Though its solid construction is not lightweight, it is not too heavy for one person to move it from room to room comfortably. Using the stretcher frequently throughout the day just to "stay open" is a good idea. Combine that with lengthy sessions of "no pain, no gain" and your split will improve. Remember, stretching is a breathing exercise. The goal is to relax your muscles each time you push to get a little wider. Time and breathing are your friend.
One last thing. The Tiger Claw "stalking tiger" logo on the seat back is really cool. Did I mention I designed it? Well, I did! Too bad that didn't get me a discount, but the regular price is very fair for a stretcher this good.
