I read all of the reviews and was not worried with some of the negative reviews. Some of the other reviews I'd like to address, if you had a heavy duty oak table you can't accurately compare these because this isn't a solid oak table, you get what you pay for, this is a good table for the price you pay. The review about benches not being sturdy not sure why theirs are not, I have someone heavier that sits on them and it does just fine. This table is very sturdy, it is beautiful, it took 2 people to put it together, but it was not hard. My only complaint is on the corner platform and where the back of the bench meet there is a gap of about 1/2 an inchother than that its perfect.

I read through every single review before purchasing this product.

Shipping - I purchased this product on 2/19/13 and it arrived 2/25/13 (estimated delivery was 2/28/13). It shipped from IL to CA. No complaints about the shipping time. However, there were two piece of the furniture that came damaged. I considered sending back, but the damaged pieces were hidden and not noticeable post-assembly. I will attach pictures of the damages pieces to the product.

Assembly - This was a little challenging. On a difficulty scale of 1 to 10? A 6? Maybe 7. I agree with reviews stating this is a 2-person job. The 2nd person really just needs to hold pieces together while the 1st person does all the screwing in. Without a 2nd person, it would take much longer. I also used a power drill, I cant imagine having to do all those screws by hand. The entire assembly took me roughly 4 1/2 hours (a good while, but my second person was my gf). The instructions are not any more difficult/annoying than IKEA manuals -- if you can put together IKEA stuff, you can put together this stuff. Simple. Also, I don't know enough about wood glue to know how the one in the box provided compares, but it did seem of low quality.

Other complaints in reviews -

Weight/Sturdiness - I weigh 200+ and I share this table with one other person. I have not seen/felt any weakness in the seats, bench or table itself. This may change over time, but anyone who immediately is concerned about the product supporting them, may not have assembled this correctly.

Wood - It's an artificial surface. For what you pay that is to be expected. Complaints about hot items ruining the surface? Get placemats/serving plates.

Advice - Assemble with 2 people.

This nook looks really cute. We LOVE the storage in the seats. Was fairly easy to put together with two people. However, we have two main problems. The single bench piece isn't very sturdy. You can't have someone heavy sit on it. My husband weighs about 150 lbs and he bends it. The other benches are sturdy though. Also, on the corner piece, the screws didn't exactly line up right with the premade holes so it stripped the hole and now the one part on the top is kind of sticking up. It's not too noticeable unless you're sitting right there.

I have an open floor plan, so I needed a nook dining set on a budget. This set arrived in three separate boxes. DO NOT DISCARD THE DIRECTIONS. People are NOT kidding when they say this is very confusing and at least 2 people are needed to put this together. Keep all of the little pieces organized. They do not give any extra tiny parts, so you are SOL if a screw goes rolling away.

In the end, no important parts were missing, but I kept track of everything, and it appears as though not all of the screw hole covers were included.

Buy your own wood glue, the glue that comes with this is garbage.

The set has a formica counter top type finish, easily wipes clean, but shows fingerprints and oils very noticably. I'm hoping that goes away with time, and the finish will not pick up on blemishes so easily.

Also hoping this goes away with time, when I clean it, the sponge/papertowel/rag always has turns pink, as if it's taking the dye of the table with it. I haven't noticed anything fading on the table itself, though.

This table seats about 5 people. I always sit on the short end of the booth, but my knees are blocked by the table leg right there. All in all, a table that was about the quality I expected for the $$. In a few years I hope to upgrade, but this will be just fine for now.

This is an awesome table at a good price. I was unaware that there was extra storage in the benches as well which was a nice surprise. It definitely takes two people to put together though!!

This nook is perfect, and paired with the maroon curtains it definitely has a swanky feel to it. So, what you need to know. Assembly can be done with one person, however, two would be easier, at least for the benches, but I managed fine by myself. You might want to buy some extra wood glue, and if you ever intend on moving the unit I would not glue the corner bench section when assembling because this will need to be taken apart to move the unit in pieces. The other concern I had was the review that said the extra bench was not supportive, she said her husband was 150 and bowed it, I am 250 and feel comfortable letting someone else sit on it with me as it is meant for two, so I am not sure if they didn't assemble it right, but it is a bench and it will support two people. As far as packaging, everything arrived and nothing was damaged, thank god, because there were four packages to this order. All and all, this is a great addition to the kitchen and though the wood is manufactured, it is sturdy. This is not a natural wood product, so if you care about that, don't get it, but it is nice all the same and we love it.
