The IV Edition Of Bound For Glory,
By
This review is from: TNA: Bound For Glory IV (DVD)
Steel Asylum (TerrorDome) Match - For those who didn't catch the first one, this was the domed cage match that debuted at the Sacrifice PPV back in May featuring all the X division stars (except the two in the title match later on) with the way to win the match was for a wrestler to climb up the dome & escape through the hole at the top of the cage. This was your typical multiman X division match as you saw a bunch of stops left & right like the multiman suplex or Shark Boy hitting a double stunner off the top rope. This wasn't like the first one where you saw some new spots but instead you just saw the same type of action you always see in a multiman X divison match. Good way to kick off the PPV but if it's one of those "you've seen them once, you seen them all" matches.Bimbo Brawl Match: Rhino, O.D.B., Rhaka Khan vs. The Beautiful People & Cute Kip with Traci Brooks as special referee - Why TNA keeps insisting on pushing Kip James is something I'll never know. Anyways, normally a bimbo brawl is a knockout version of a hardcore weapons match but that wasn't the case here as this was just a normal six person tag match which made this a big disappointment right off the bat along with the match going a little over 5 mins. In that time, nothing was really clicking & at best, this match was bad. X Division Champion Sheik Abdul Bashir vs. Consequences Creed - This was an average match as they really didn't see to go past "first geal" & kept the same pace for a majority of the match but nothing really noteworthy happened except for the finish which looked a little botched but was given enough time to turn into something nice to watch. Knockouts Champion Taylor Wilde vs. Awesome Kong vs. Roxxi - Unfortunally, this match wasn't given enough time (only 5 mins.) to really turn into something special. All of them tried in that short time to make this match good for what it was but this was really disappointing. Monsters Ball Match: TNA Tag Team Champions Beer Money Inc. vs. Abyss/Matt Morgan vs. L.A.X. vs. Team 3D with Steve McMichael as the special referee - Following in the tradition of the previous Monster's Ball matches, this was a hardcore war that saw plenty of blood & weapons used such as Homicide using a fork, Brother Ray using a cheesegrader & staple gun to Abyss at various times, trashcan lids slammed on heads & bodies put through thumbtacked tables, Hernandez giving Matt Morgan a "you have to see it to believe it" border toss to Matt Morgan, Steve McMichael getting in on the action at one point and the moment of the night of Abyss being set on fire after going through a flaming table. I said it earlier, this was a hardcore war & it delivered. A.J. Styles vs. Christian Cage vs. Booker T - Good triple threat match that saw the developing story of A.J. being a "TNA original", Booker T being a "veteran", and Christian being the wild card who's out for himself playing a role right from the start. All three men had their moments to shine, played off each other well, and delivered a great match. Jeff Jarrett vs. Kurt Angle with Mick Foley as the special enforcer - After not wrestling (with the exception of two matches) in 2 years, Jarrett surely didn't show any ring rust here as they delievered a great wrestling match that went back & forth between both men with Mick Foley & "Mr. Socko" only becoming a factor in the end. Great wrestling match that delievered. TNA Champion Samoa Joe vs. Sting - The second half of the "TNA originals vs. Veterans" feud here as Sting came out aggressive right from the opening bell which lead to a fight through the crowd in the early stages of the match. This was the most physical match you've seen Sting in since last year's Bound For Glory along with the best main event match Joe has had throughout his entire title reign to the point where Joe just kept wanting to punish & beat Sting down instead of winning the match. Various moments you have to look out for was Samoa Joe doing a dropkick from the balcony onto Sting who was in the isleway, Sting getting on of the hardest crotchshots that makes you suprized his voice is still normal after that one, and both men using the other's finishing moves on them. In the end after an appearence from the returning Kevin Nash, another Bound For Glory has the same result in Sting once again winning the TNA Championship. In the end, this Bound For Glory was a HUGE step down from last year & for this to be their "WrestleMania", it didn't come off like that in the beginning since the PPV seemed to drag after the Steel Asylum & didn't pick up again until the Monster's Ball with the Knockouts just not having a good showing here in both matches and the X Division match wasn't as good as it could have been. So in the end, this is a PPV I would still recommend but not with high "Biggest Show Of The Year" expectations.

Why Sting, Why?,

This was a pretty solid ppv and is one of my favorite BFG's. Thanks for reading!Steel Asylum match for a shot at the TNA X-Division championship Jay Lethal vs. Sonjay Dutt vs. Chris Sabin vs. Alex Shelley vs. Curry Man vs. Shark Boy vs. Super Eric vs. Petey Williams vs. Johnny Devine vs. Jimmy Rave This was a ver good opener. This is one of my favorite X-division matches at BFG. This has a lot of highflying action and is hardcore at some points. This has some good moments like Shark Boy getting a double stunner on MCMG, the match becoming a finisher fest, and Jay Lethal winning. This match has a moment with Sonjay Dutt getting a double hurricarana. This match is very crazy, good action, and is very entertaining. 4/5 Intergender Bimbo Brawl Rhino, Rhaka Kan, and ODB vs. The Beutiful people This isn't a very good match. I didn't like this and wasn't hardcore at all. The action was very poor and this was just a filler. 2/5 X-Division championship Sheik Abdul Bashir vs. Consequences Creed This was a ok match. I wasn't thrilled and didn't really like this. This had some good moments but was mostly a filler. I didn't like this, and thought these two could have put on a better show. 2/5 Triple Threat for the TNA Knockouts championship Taylor Wilde vs. Awesome Kong vs. Roxxi This wasn't a very good match either. This was one of the shortest triple threat matches i have ever seen. This was another boring match and had nothing in it with awesome kong mostly dominating until the end when Taylor gets the win. This was dissapointing and was the third bad match in a row. 2/5 Monsters Ball for the TNA Tag Team championship Abyss and Matt Morgan vs. Beer Money Inc. vs. Team 3D vs. LAX This was one of the most hardocore matches of the year. I mean, oh my god, this match has practically everything in it, kendo sticks, tables, lighter fluid, cheese grater, tacks, beer bottles and much much more. Funny moment in the match when Steve McMichael almost got tackeled and pumbled Robert Roode. But overall, holy cow of a match, i never knew that a TNA match could resemble ECW so much. 4.5/5 Booker T vs. AJ Styles vs. Christian Cage This a solid three way dance. I liked the highflying material used from Christian and AJ, but what was just a minor set back in the match, is that Booker was practically a scared little girl who spent almost all of the match outside the ring. Well, this match mostly was for AJ and Christian anyways because of there rivalry, but this match just got real messed up and complicated at the end when Booker took advantage. But nice match though. 3/5 Special guest enforcer Mick Foley Jeff Jarrett vs. kurt Angle This was definatly a classic of 2008 for TNA. This match lived up to expectations and was amazing, with both technical wrestlers, these two put on a great show. But there was a moment where the ref got hit(sucks for him)and Mick took over, got hit with a chair by Angle, Angle got hit with a guitar, and this one was over for a great match, and a nice comeback victory for Jarrett. But this rivalry continued to Genisis by Kurt saying that he got screwed, and he certanly did, but another great match for the card, and number two of three twenty minuet matches. 5/5 TNA World Heavyweight championship Samoa Joe vs. Sting This was another twenty minute bout, but was very nice, this started off slow but was another build up match, this match continued Stings undefeated streak, but he took a big step backwards and cheated to win, using the interference of Kevin Nash. But other than another screw job, this was very enjoyable and is worth watching. These two had a great build up to this match and was bound for glory material. 4/5 Yup. This was a very solid TNA evening of bouts. (Sip of beer) Yup.

Good but Not Nearly as good as BFG 2007,
By Scotty M. "Little Nose" (Georgia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: TNA: Bound For Glory IV (DVD)
For any of you out there who did not get a chance to see BFG 2007, then you're really missing out on a great TNA event. And for those of you who did see it then I advise you to take it into recognition that 2008's BFG doesn't even come close to the fantastic event BFG 2007 turned out to be. So don't be disappointed to hear that this year's event is only half as good in comparison to last year's event. But overall with only 3 bad matches, this event doesn't suck at all. It had a fantastic start, boring middle, and a strong finish.Steel Asylum #1 Contendership Match for the X-Division Title Petey Williams vs. Alex Shelly vs. Jay Lethal vs. Curryman vs. Chris Sabin vs. Sonjay Dutt vs. Shark Boy vs. Jimmy Rave vs. Super Eric vs. Johnny Devine Now I'll be honest, I did not see the first Steel Asylum (TerrorDome) Match. But I was blown away with this match after seeing it for the first time. Action was happening everywhere. And to point out an impressive triple suplex. The Machineguns were working together for the most part. Sharkboy was impressive here with his double stunner from the top rope. As I stated a fantastic opener. 5/5 Bimbo Brawl w/ Traci Brooks as the Special Referee Cute Kip & the Beautiful People vs. Rhino, ODB, & Rakah Khan I didn't like this match one bit. I felt nothing good happen whatsoever. Just a complete mess. 2/5 X-Division Championship Sheik Abdul Bashir vs. Consequences Creed For yall who didn't catch BFG 2007, that's where Creed made his debut in TNA. The only problem I have with this match is that it ended as once as it was finally getting good. The match isn't a dud but it isn't a good way to display what the X-Division is all about. 3.25/5 TNA Knockout's Championship Taylor Wilde vs. Awesome Kong vs. Roxxi This could have been a good triple threat Knockout's title match but this too isn't anything special. Not very long either, only around the 5 minute mark. Only good to a certain degree. 3.25/5 Monster's Ball Match for the TNA Tag Team Championship Beer Money Inc. vs. Team 3D vs. Matt Morgan & Abyss vs. L.A.X. Finally the ppv picks up again. And this match is defiantely one of the better matches of the night. Great hardcore spots in this one. Including Homicide using a fork, viscious kendo stick shots from Hernandez, Team 3D using a staple gun & putting Abyss through a flamming table, and also 3Ding Hernandez through a table covered with tacks. Morgan & Hernandez showed some great agility as well. You even hear some ECW chants. Great match and I'll say this match is the match of the night. 5/5 3 Way War AJ Styles vs. Booker T vs. Christian Cage Another great match. And a very good showing from all three men. Some good outside ring action. Some nice wrestling by AJ. And some good high risk too. To include an Unprettier by Cage to AJ from the top rope. Very good triple threat match. 4.5/5 Grudge Match with Mick Foley as the Special Enforcer Kurt Angle vs. Jeff Jarrett With Jarrett being out for two years, he sure didn't look rusty. Jarrett performed very well with the true wrestling style of Angle. Angle was pulling off some moves he only uses for certain ppv's like his moonsault. The match went very good with some nice counters and the Enforcer rule was a good addition to the match. Also two nasty chair shots to Foley & Jarrett by Angle. A very good showing from both Angle & Jarrett. 4.75/5 TNA Heavyweight Championship Sting vs. Samoa Joe From the start Sting was fighting his butt off that eventually led to Joe and Sting brawling into the crowd for a good 15 minutes. This match was a good back and forth contest. Joe was using some good holds on Sting even using the Scorpion Death Drop on Sting himself. The ending only led the formation of the Main Event Mafia. I might be over rating this match but I found nothing wrong with it and I thought this match was a grand finish to the night. 5/5 The extra's aren't so bad with postmatch interviews from Sting & Jeff Jarrett, behind the scenes at the BFG commercial video, and the Smashing Pumpkins music video. But as the event goes, I recommend on getting this. Overall the event was very good and very worth owning. But I also advise checking out the previous BFG's, especially BFG 2007.
