5.0 out of 5 stars Another Home Run For TNA
This was an awesome PPV from TNA. TNA has just been on a roll with PPV's ever since they started doing 3 hour shows. Bellow is the card with a Five Star Rating System.

This review is from: TNA Wrestling: Genesis 2005 (DVD)
Just like WWE usually has a great follow up PPV to WrestleMania called Backlash, TNA was able to do the same thing with their Genesis PPV. I liked Bound For Glory better but this was a nice follow up. This also happened the same day as Eddie Guerrero's death so there are references to him by Konnan & Team 3D throughout the show.

Pre-Show: Shark Boy vs. Nigel McGinness - Honestly, nothing special here to remember.

Pre-Show: The Naturals & Lance Hoyt vs. Diamonds In The Rough - Nice six man tag match.

Raven vs. PJ Polaco a.k.a. Justin Credible - This wasn't exactly an ECW style brawl like we've seen before but there was some great storytelling here by Raven.

Hockey Stick Fight w/Kip James as referee: Team Canada vs. 3 Live Kru - Fun match to watch.

Christian Cage makes his TNA debut & shoots on the WWE - Basically, Christian makes his debut only a few days (Taboo Tuesday was earlier in the week) after leaving WWE to address all the rumors regarding his contract situation and basically says what alot of the former WWE fans have been saying about their product for the past couple of months.

Jeff Hardy vs. "Alpha Male" Monty Brown - Not a wild brawl but better than I expected.

Elimation X Match: Christopher Daniels, Samoa Joe, Alex Shelly, Roderick Strong vs. Chris Sabin, Matt Bentley, Sonjay Dutt, Austin Aries - Great Survivor Series type battle between these eight with alot of the famous high spots & actual wrestling by each wrestler. However, the aftermath with Samoa Joe & Christopher Daniels is more memorable than anything else.

No DQ Match: Sabu vs. Abyss - Not on the same level as their involvement in Monster's Ball but it's still a nice brawl between the two. Not many weapons used but it served it's purpose.

X Division Champion AJ Styles vs. Petey Williams - This match heavily makes up for their match a year earlier between the two at Victory Road (same match on "Best Of The X Division" DVD).

Rhino/Team 3D a.k.a. Dudley Boyz vs. Jeff Jarrett/America's Most Wanted - This match resemembles an old school ECW style brawl with them brawling all over the building in this one. A great & wild six man tag match.

The DVD extras are basically just backstage footage of wrestlers before & after their matches.

Again, I recommend but I would get Bound For Glory first.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Home Run For TNA, January 20, 2006
This review is from: TNA Wrestling: Genesis 2005 (DVD)
This was an awesome PPV from TNA. TNA has just been on a roll with PPV's ever since they started doing 3 hour shows. Bellow is the card with a Five Star Rating System.

PRESHOW: SHARK BOY vs. NIGEL MCGUINNESS
This match was the opener before the PPV. It might be on the DVD since TNA are now adding the pre-shows as extras which is a good idea. It was your typical match from what I remember. They have had better openers. *1/2

PRESHOW: THE DIAMONDS IN THE ROUGH vs. THE NATURALS & LANCE HOYT
This was a good match featuring the return of Chase Stevens from The Naturals. Stevens had suffered a broken neck weeks before. This was better then the following match and got the crowd going for the PPV. Orlando loves Lance Hoyt. **1/2

RAVEN vs. ???
This opening match on the show featured Raven takeing on an mystery opponent appointed my Larry Z. I wont ruin who it is, but this was a good match. Not horrible, but not amazing. It serves its purpose. **3/4

HOCKEY STICK FIGHT:
TEAM CANADA vs. 3LIVE KRU
(Special Referee: Kip James)
This was a pretty entertaining match. Eric Young is funny as hell in this contest. The purpose of the match was to even the odds since there was four Canadians and three of the Kru. Kip James is added in the ongoing story of "who can you trust?" One of the better matches that these two teams have put on. ***

Christian Cage Debuts.
This was the major acquisition and let me tell you it did not disappoint. I was glad to see a man who has been given the shaft as a single star jump. Christian has an unbelieveable amount of charisma and is an awesome wrestler. This is about 10-20 minute shoot segement which sets up the main event later in the night. *****

CONTENDER'S MATCH:
"THE ALPHA MALE" MONTY BROWN vs. "THE CHARISMATIC ENIGMA" JEFF HARDY
This was better than I thought it was going to be. I just don't understand why the winner never got the shot they deserve. But it was a good showing from both men. ***

ELIMINATION X:
"THE FALLEN ANGEL" CHRISTOPHER DANIELS, "THE SAMOAN SUBMISSION MACHINE" SAMOA JOE, ALEX SHELLEY, & RODERICK STRONG vs. CHRIS SABIN, MATT BENTLEY, SONJAY DUTT, & AUSTIN ARIES
TNA's answer to the Survivor Series. This was a fantastic match that had a few surprise's thrown into it. I was very glad this match was given about 30 minutes as all of these men deserve that kind of time limit. *****

NO DISQUALIFICATION MATCH:
SABU VS. "THE MONSTER" ABYSS
I was surprised to see these two men compete in another hardcore type match, just coming off the Bound For Glory Monster's Ball. It was a brutal match that set's up the Final Encounter at Turning Point. That PPV is a must buy also. Sick bumps that both men take, more so Sabu. *****

TNA X-DIVISION TITLE MATCH:
"THE PHENOMENAL" AJ STYLES (c) vs. "THE CANADIAN DESTROYER" PETEY WILLIAMS
Tne only title match of the night. Which was a good thing and bad thing. This was better then the last title match these two put on from Victory Road one year ago. This time AJ was champ and both men are extremely hard workers. This is what WWE wishes there "crusier weight division" was. Just an awesome match. *****

MAIN EVENT:
TEAM 3D & RHINO vs. NWA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION, JEFF JARRETT & NWA WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS, AMERICA'S MOST WANTED
Before the match took place, Team 3D and Rhino cut a promo backstage. The best part is the fact that all three pay tribute Eddie, since he passed away early in the day. R.I.P. Eddie.

The match was just a brawl all over the building and was not really a six man tag match. It was a good main event and was better then the last six man tag match that was supposed to be the main event that featured: Nash, Hall and Jarrett vs. Hardy Styles and Macho Man from the previous Turning Point. This match made me forget all about that one. *****

After the match Christian came back out as it was time to choose. TNA or Team Jarrett. Im sure by know everyone knows what happened. So Jarrett recieves a 3D through the table at the hands of the Dud....I mean Team 3D and Christian.

A great show that keeps TNA PPV record going. The extras are the pre-show at the begining of the PPV and never before seen backstage footage. Plus what happened when Genesis went off the air. Deff a must buy as almost every match was awesome.

HERE IS MY REVIEW FOR TNA'S NEW NOVEMBER PAY PER VIEW, GENESIS 2005.

RAVEN VS. PJ POLACO
GOOD MATCH TO START OFF THE SHOW. FORMER JUSTIN CREDIBLE WAS PRETTY IMPRESSIVE HERE, NICE SPOT WITH PLOLACO SMASHING A KENDO STICK OVER CASSIDY RILEYS HEAD TO TO TAKE THE BLOW FOR RAVEN. GOOD OPENER
WINNER: RAVEN
RATING: 6

HOCKY STICK FIGHT SPECIAL GUEST REFEREE: KIP JAMES
TEAM CANADA VS. 3 LIVE KRU
VERY GOOD BRAWL, VERY ENTERTAINING MATCH, WITH ERIC YOUNG OF TEAM CANADA BEING FUNNY AS ALWAYS. NICE SPOTS WITH ALL 6 HOCKEY STICKS, AND NICE ENDING TOO.
WINNERS: 3 LIVE KRU
RATING: 6.5

CONTENDER MATCH
MONTY BROWN VS. JEFF HARDY
GREAT MATCHUP BETWEEN THESE TWO. BACK AND FORTH THE ACTION WENT AND THIS ONE DID NOT DISSAPOINT. GOTTA NOTE THE AWESOME POUNCE AT THE END, HE REALLY NAILED HARDY! OVERALL BETTER THAN I EXPECTED, AND IT WAS A GREAT MATCH FROM BEGINNING TO END.
WINNER: MONTY BROWN
RATING: 7

ELIMINATION X MATCH
SAMOA JOE, CHRISTOPHER DANIALS, ALEX SHELLY & RODERICK STRONG VS. CHRIS SABIN, MATT BENTLY, SONJAY DUTT & AUSTIN ARIES
HERE IS TNA'S VERSION OF THE SURVIVOR SERIES. AND IT DID NOT DISSAPOINT ONE BIT. AMAZING MATCH, AND THE TIMING WAS PERFECT, AND IT REALLY GAVE THE X DIVISION THE TIME TO SHOW HOW IMPRESSIVE THEY REALLY ARE. SICK AFTERMATH WITH SAMOA JOE BEATIN DANIALS HEAD IN.
WINNERS: CHRISTOPHER DANIALS & SAMOA JOE
RATING: 9

NO DISQUALIFICATION MATCH
SABU VS. ABYSS
AWESOME NO DQ MATCH WITH SOME GREAT SPOTS. TABLES, CHAIRS, BARBED WIRE CHAIR, AND THUMTACKS ALL CAME INTO PLAY HERE. WOULDVE GOTTEN A BETTER RATING IF THIS WAS GIVEN MORE TIME, BUT WAS STILL A GREAT MATCHUP.
WINNER: ABYSS
RATING: 8

X DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP
AJ STYLES VS. PETEY WILLIAMS
EXCELLENT X DIVISION MATCH! MANY SICK BUMPS, ESPECIALLY WHEN AJ DIVED AT PETEY, BUT WENT OVER THE RAIL DOING IT, AND WHEN PETEY GERMAN SUPLEXED AJ'S BACK STRAIGHT INTO THE RAIL FROM THE APRON! ONCE AGAIN, THIS MATCH WAS GREAT FROM START TO FINISH! THIS WAS SIMPLY PHENOMINAL, NO PUN INTENDED.
WINNER: AJ STYLES
RATING: 9

MAIN EVENT
6 MAN TAG TEAM MATCH
RHINO & TEAM 3D VS. JEFF JARRET & AMW
AWESOME MAIN EVENT! THESE GUYS FOUGHT EVERYWHERE, AND FOUGHT HARD! MANY SPOTS WERE IN THIS ONE. CHAIRS, CHEESE GRATER (OUCH!), TABLES, AND A RING BELL ALL CAME INTO PLAY. SICK RHINO DRIVER ON JARRET ON THE RAMP! VERY ENTERTAINING MATCH, AND EVEN BETTER WITH CHRISTIAN CAGE COMING OUT WITH A TEAM CANADA SHIRT, BUT TURNED ON PLANET JARRET AND PLANTED SCOTT D'AMORE TROUGH A TABLE WITH THE 3D! AWESOME!
WINNERS: TEAM 3D & RHINO
RATING: 9

OVERALL, GENESIS 2005 WAS WORTH 8 OUT OF 10 STARS. ANOTHER AWESOME PAY PER VIEW FROM TNA! DEFINATELY WORTH $15 FROM BEST BUY. TNA IS ON A ROLL WITH THEIR PAY PER VIEWS. GREAT SHOW! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS DVD WITH BOUND FOR GLORY!

P.S., GENESIS PAY PER VIEW WAS THE SAME NIGHT WHEN EDDIE GUERRERO PASSED AWAY :( AFTER THE SHOW TEAM 3D, RHINO, CHRISTIAN CAGE AND THE FANS ALL PAID TRIBUTE TO HIM. BROTHER RAY ALSO LAID OUT AN EDDIE GUERRERO SIGN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE RING PAYING TRIBUTE TO EDDIE. RIP! WE LOVE YOU EDDIE!

4.0 out of 5 stars Another one that's not the best example of a great TNA ppv, April 30, 2006

This review is from: TNA Wrestling: Genesis 2005 (DVD)
Team Canada v 3liveKru Hockey Stick Fight: I don't remember this one much but I think Kip James was ref. Either that or it's when Konnan turnt on the 3live Crew.

Monty Brown v Jeff Hardy Contenders Match :
This was one of Hardy's last matches on a ppv, who knows if he will be back since he only shows when he feels like it. Anyway when Hardy was showing up he had some of the best matches and was still heald back by Jarrett. I guess I don't blame them for not giving him a world title push since he's not the most dedicated wrestler to the business. Even Monty Brown is more dedicated than him and I guess the right person won since I'm the biggest fan of the Pounce. Yep, you guessed it, Monty wins with the Pounce and it's awhile before he even gets another title shot eventhough he won. They shouldn't have put Hardy's face all over the posters if he was gonna just be jobbing in a mid-card match.

*** out of ****

Samoa Joe, Christopher Daniels, Alex Shelley + Roderick Strong v Chris Sabin, Austin Aries, Matt Bentley + Sonjay Dutt Elimination X
Abyss v Sabu No Disqualification: It's not a bad survivor series type match with Danials and Joe winning. Joe goes nuts because he doesn't make the final pin and beats the crap out of Danials.

*** 1/2 out of ****

AJ Styles v Petey Williams X Division Title::

This of course was an excellent match with the under-rated Petey Williams giving it all against A.J. Styles. Before this match on Impact Petey beat A.J. in a non-title match but he loses with one to the styles clash i think.
**** out of ****

Jeff Jarrett + America's Most Wanted v Rhino + Team 3D : Team 3-D mess up AMW in this one and almost injured one of them. They get the win with the 3-D while Jarrett and Rhino fight outside. It's not a bad match with a lot of brawling but not really mainevent worthy. What helps the match some is Christians appearance at the end where he beats up Jarrett and turns on Team Canada. *** out of **** Was nice seeing Christian debut but since it was the day Eddie Guerrero died that was about all that was really on my mind.

5.0 out of 5 stars TNA's Genesis was indeed the beginning of a new year..., February 22, 2006
By
the one and only "david" (I live south of Parts Unknown) - See all my reviews
This review is from: TNA Wrestling: Genesis 2005 (DVD)
Genesis took place on November 13th, 2005. After a full year of 3 hour ppvs being put on, TNA ended it's first year with a bang as Christain Cage arrived at TNA, a great card of matches took place, and the entire TNA company paid tribute to Eddie Guerrero who tragically passed away on the same day....

Raven vs. PJ Polaco:
This was during Raven's little fued with Larry Zybisco [I don't know how to spell his last name] Larry gave him two choices: leave TNA or fight a mystery opponent. Raven chose to stay and faced PJ Polaco, AKA Justin Credible. This was a good match, and Credible even smashed a kendo stick over Cassidy Riley's head as he protected Raven. Raven gets the win on Polaco. 7/10

Hockey Stick Match
Team Canada vs. 3LK [Kip James special guest referee]
This was a brawl from start to finish. Watch BG James give a big back body drop to Bobby Roode onto the ramp and Konnan stick his shoe on a hockey stick and beat up Team Canada. Not much action with the sticks till near the end as both teams arm themselves with sticks and actually have a mini sword fight brawl. The end comes when Ron Killings lands a leg drop on a bunch of sticks right on top of Eric Young's family jewels. Good mid card match. 8/10

#1 Contendership Match
Jeff Hardy vs. Monty Brown:
I always find Monty Brown's facial expressions funny during his matches, and watch his face contort as Jeff lands a leg drop onto his "Testicular" region. The match goes outside the ring and Jeff even jumps over a row or two of people and lands on Monty Brown outside the ring! Jeff put up a good fight, but The Pounce claimed another victim and Monty Brown won the match. 7.5/10

8 Man Tag Team Elimination Match
Christopher Daniels, Samoa Joe, Alex Shelley, and Roderick Strong vs. Chris Sabin, Sonjay Dutt, Matt Bently, and Austin Aries:
This is just a fantastic wrestling match. One of the longer matches on the card and it did not dissapoint. Sonjay Dutt shows some intense high flying moves in this one [too bad about the slip up though] and Chris Sabin shows some true grit as he is left alone against Daniels and Joe near the end. However Daniels gets the pin on Sabin, winning the match for his team. 9/10

[After the match Joe goes beserk and absolutely destroys Daniels with a steel chair because Daniels got the pinfall victory, not Joe]

No Disqualification Match
Sabu vs. Abyss:
This is the second best of their one on one matches [In my opinion] Some great spots including: Sabu landing a leg drop onto Abyss through a table from the ring, Abyss giving huge chairshots to Sabu. Weapons included were: chairs, tables, thumbtacks, and a chair wrapped in barb wire. Abyss chokeslams Sabu onto the tacks, then misses a splash onto Sabu and lands chest first on tacks. In the end Sabu blocks a powerbomb on the barbed wire chair, but gets a black hole slam right onto it seconds later! Abyss wins the match. Good match but WAAAAY too short, should have been a few minutes longer 8.5/10

[Watch the crowd reaction when they see Sabu's back for the first time after landing on the tacks, it's pretty entertaining.]

X Division Championship
AJ Styles [Champion] vs. Petey Williams:
Great match, better than the one they had in the same month the year before. Some fast paced moves and watch a german suplex onto the side of the barricade! Aj wins after giving the Styles Clash to Petey from the ropes for the win. 9.5/10

6 Man Tag Team Match
The Dudley Boyz and Rhino vs. Jeff Jarrett and AMW:
This was a massive brawl from start to finish. All 6 men literally fight all over the arena. Onto the ramps, into the crowd, on the announce tables, in the ring, by the entrance ways, on the stadium steps, everywhere except the back had some brawling going on.

Highlights inlcude: Rhino falling down the entire stadium steps after Jeff Jarret shoved him off, Bubba Ray using a CHEESE GRATER on James Storms' head, Chris Harris hitting multiple chair shots onto Team 3D, Jeff Jarret getting smacked in the head with a trash can, Bubba Ray powerbombing Chris Harris onto the ground, and James Storm hitting a superkick onto Rhino as he tried to gore Jarrett through a table at the entranceway. Team 3D hit the 3D onto Harris for the win. 10/10 [Exciting Brawl all over the building.]

After the match Christain Cage comes down to the ring and announces that he will not join Jeff Jarret's side and helps The Dudley Boyz give a 3D to Jeff Jarret through a table.

Great PPV, one of my personal favorites for the last four matches alone. What makes TNA DVDS great are that they are a lot cheaper than normal DVDS, yet they are just as good if not better. This one is highly recommended......

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Good TNA PPV!, February 25, 2006
A Kid's Review
This review is from: TNA Wrestling: Genesis 2005 (DVD)
TNA is doing well with these DVD realeses! Below are the ratings for the matches

Raven vs PJ Polaco(Justin Credible)- A nice choice for an opener, Raven wins after a Raven DDT 7.5/10

3LK vs Team Canada- Another good match, the hockey sticks aren't used until the end when 3LK wins 7.5/10

Jeff Hardy vs Monty Brown- Great match between the two. Monty wins. 8/10

Elimination X match

Christopher Daniels, Somoa Joe, Roderick Strong, and Alex Shelly vs Chris Sabin, Matt Bentley, Sonjay Dutt, and Austin Aries- A WWE Survivor Series type match, this was fast paced and one of the best on the card. Daniels and Joe are the survivors. The aftermath is brutal. 9/10

No Disqualification match

Sabu vs Abyss- This is what I expected from these two, but it's too short at least it's brutal with the tacks. Abyss wins it.9/10

X division Match

AJ Styles vs Petey Williams- The only title match of the night and it was phenomenal. 9.5/10

Main Event No DQ match

Jeff Jarret and AMW vs Rhino and Team 3D- Awesome match! It was bloody with the cheese grater and other weapon use. I hear it will be on the Best of Bloodiest brawls vol 1 DVD. Rhino and Team 3D wins it.10/10

5.0 out of 5 stars TNA IS WRESTLING, July 24, 2006
A Kid's Review
This review is from: TNA Wrestling: Genesis 2005 (DVD)
"Listen all of you crack heads who thinks that the wwe sucks you are retarded. John cena is much of a better champ than who is that over on tna that has the belt it's christan cage and the only reason why he left the wwe is because he couldn't win the belt so why don't you all shut your mouths and watch some real wrestleing that is the WWE."

Oh, the WWE is real wrestling guy again. You saying Cena's a better champion & defending the company that would rather have diva searches & hire blondes who can't wrestle say what you know about REAL WRESTLING. Of course Christian couldn't win the belt in WWE...because Vince would rather job out guys like Mysterio & see giant fat stiffs wrestle like Mark Henry (10 years, still worthless, and HURT AGAIN!) and the guy from the Adam Sandler movie.

If it's not TNA, it's not REAL WRESTLING & at least in TNA...we don't say our dead wrestlers are "BURNING IN HELL!!!" (RIP Eddie Guerrero)

4.0 out of 5 stars TNA Genesis 2005 Review, April 20, 2011
This review is from: TNA Wrestling: Genesis 2005 (DVD)
The Raven-PJ Polaco match was not great but pretty good. The 3Live Kru-Team Canada-Hockey Stick Fight was passable. The Monty Brown-Jeff Hardy match was so-so. The Elimination X match was high-flying,hard-hitting and a good reminder of WWE's Survivor Series matches when they were good. The Abyss-Sabu-NO DQ match was a good reminder of the 1990's ECW. The X Division title match between AJ Styles & Petey Williams was your basic high-flying,back-and-forth showstealer. The 6 man tag team match between The Team of Rhino & Team 3D against Jeff Jarrett & America's Most Wanted was a smash-mouth,hard-hitting,hardcore brawl. I give this event a 7 out of 10.
