Good From Beginning To End...Just Skip The Middle,
By
This review is from: TNA Wrestling: Best of Tag Teams, Vol. 1 (DVD)
Tag team wrestling is becoming a "lost art" in the world of mainstream professional wrestling when WCW in the late 90's and current day WWE think that there's more money in singles wrestlers than there are tag teams when the history of teams like the Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard, Road Warriors, Steiners, Demolition, Hart Foundation, Edge & Christian, Dudley Boyz, Outsiders, and Hardy Boyz have all proven that theory wrong. The only mainstream promotion that has an important non-stop focus on tag teams is TNA and they're top teams of their division are showcased on this DVD.
America's Most Wanted IMPACT: vs. AJ Styles & Christopher Daniels - This went around 10 mins. to set up their rematch & stipulation at Sacrifice. Good above average match for Impact. Sacrifice: vs. AJ Styles & Christopher Daniels - Daniels & Styles didn't do their usual singles highspots and finishers but put in the time to create a repertoire of tag team spots to making them look like a real unit. This is a really great tag team match with a very unique ending to it giving the pre-match stipulation. IMPACT: vs. The Naturals - This was a short match from Impact that was less than 5 mins. Team 3D IMPACT: Six Sides Of Steel vs. Team Canada - This was a 10 minute match that Team 3D for the most part dominated. IMPACT: Street Fight vs. AMW - A good brawl to watch. The real highlight was the end when Brother Runt (Spike Dudley) came to TNA to reunite with the rest of Team 3D. Lockdown: Six Sides Of Steel Flag Match vs. Team Canada - This time, Spike & A1 are involved and Team Canada gets more offense in here but overall, it's very similar to the previous cage match. Slammiversary: Bingo Hall Brawl vs. James Gang - This was an "extreme" tag match that had weapons & brawling all over the arena...and actually looked like a legit fight at times instead of a wrestling brawl & was really enjoyable. For those who want to know, the hidden message behind Ray's statement at the end of the match was to show Vince McMahon how ECW is really done compared to the first week episode of ECW on Sci-Fi. The Naturals IMPACT: vs. AMW - Short 5 min. Impact match that was more about the miscommunication problems between AWM than anything else. Didn't really showcase The Naturals well here. Chase Stevens vs. Chris Harris vs. Kazarian vs. B.G. James - This match only went 3 mins. that was again based around AMW's miscommunication problems with the Naturals capitalizing on it. Again, poor showcase of The Naturals (Chase Stevens in this case). No Surrender: Triple Chance Battle Royal - The rules are that when both members of a team are eliminated from the battle royal, they're out. When two wrestlers are remaining, their partners come back for a tradition tag team match. Once the battle royal part was done, it was down to AMW & The Naturals. It was good for what it was but look out for Chase Stevens toss into the crowd. Voodoo Kim Mafia IMPACT: VKM's debut - The story here is that the James Gang quit TNA two weeks earlier & came back with a new look & name to start their war against Vince & DX for destroying the group they helped build up. Genesis: vs. Serotonin - This was a short squash for VKM to mock DX & being their "mission" against DX & Vince McMahon. Turning Point: Dumb To The Extreme Skit - This was VKM mocking the DX skits before issuing a $1 Million Challenge. L.A.X. Victory Road: vs. Sonjay Dutt & Ron Killings - Homicide showed off his high flyin' X division/Lucha Libre style while Homicide was put over as the huge muscle man...almost like a latino version of Harlem Heat. This was a great "sleeper" match that had alot of people talking after Victory Road. IMPACT: This was just a squash match against two jobbers to put over their thug mentality as Konnan took over the english announce table. IMPACT: Border Brawl vs. AJ Styles & Christopher Daniels - This was better then the other street fight on here as the crowd was heavily into it & they didn't hold anything back in this brawl. Six Sides Of Steel: vs. AJ Styles & Christopher Daniels - Words won't do this match justice as it doesn't top their previous matches but it ranks right up there with their previous matches. Look out for AJ's flip dive off the top of the cage. The bonus section is full of promos featuring AMW, Team 3D and LAX. All the Impact matches that went 5 mins. or less were pointless & should have been left out. The Naturals matches didn't showcased them very well because the matches were too short & other people's storylines were put over instead of their own. The VKM stuff could have been left out to make more room for others since they were mostly just promos, their only match was a quick squash, and the DX stuff didn't lead anywhere except a quick one liner from HBK on RAW. Matches like the AMW winning the titles from the Naturals in Oct. 2005 (starting the longest NWA Tag Team Title run in the history books), the AMW/Team 3D tables match from Turning Point, the Hard Justice match between AJ/Daniels vs. LAX, the Naturals/Team 3D tables match in Nov. or the rematch two months later from Impact, the Naturals vs. Jay Lethal & Sonjay Dutt at Genesis....there are all matches that could have been put on here instead of pointless others. I know some of these matches I named are on other PPV disc but I want quality, not some 5 min. filler matches from Impact. Overall, nice group of matches but most of the stuff didn't showcase the ABSOLUTE BEST of the tag team division that TNA has to offer but I would recommend just based off the efforts of AMW, 3D, AJ & Daniels, and LAX.

IN THE SPIRIT OF OLD SCHOOL,
This review is from: TNA Wrestling: Best of Tag Teams, Vol. 1 (DVD)
In the spirit of old school Wrestling videos...like World Tag-Team Champions by WWF's Coliseum Video or Tag-Team Tandems from the UWF video library come TNA Wrestling's Best of the Tag-Teams Vol.1! I wish I had a match line-up for you but right now I know the DVD will feature the teams, the LAX (Latin American Exchange), the VooDoo Kin Mafia, Team 3D, America's Most Wanted, AJ Styles & Christopher Daniels, The Naturals and MORE! I'm really exciting about this DVD moreover because of it's old school feel. Not only the fact the title alone is original with all the PPV releases and Single Profile documentaries coming out these days. BUT Tag-Team wrestling has been revived with TNA wrestling! Long past have the days of Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard, The Road Warriors and Midnight Express...before TNA we were stuck with teams just thrown together like Test & Booker T, Alex Wright & Disco Inferno or Paul London & Billy Kidman. Great idea for this release! THANKS TNA Wrestling you've done it again simply with originality.
