Product Description

The TOGGLER SNAPTOGGLE BB toggle anchor provides a secure hold from within various hollow materials 3/8" to 3-5/8" thick including gypsum board, drywall, and concrete block, includes 1/4"-20 UNC bolts, and is made in USA. The anchor channel will not rotate when installing the bolt, whether installing by hand or with a screw gun, and will stay in place if the bolt is removed to facilitate fixture and screw changes. If using bolts other than those supplied, the anchor accepts 1/4"-20 UNC metal bolts with a minimum length equal to the thickness of the item being fastened and the thickness of the mounting material plus 1/2". The SNAPTOGGLE anchor meets Federal Specification FF-B-588-D for Type V anchors.

The anchor consists of a corrosion-resistant zinc-plated steel anchor channel that inserts through a 1/2" drilled hole in walls, ceilings, or floors and installs against the back side of the mounting material; plastic straps attached to the channel that position it into place; and a plastic cap that slides down the straps and presses into the drilled hole firmly to lock the anchor channel in place behind the mounting material. Once the cap is set in place, the straps snap off by hand. The item being fastened affixes to the mounting material by inserting one of the included bolts through the item, into the drilled hole, and through the anchoring channel behind the material and tightening.

Anchors provide reinforcement to a fastener that would otherwise have insufficient hold in substrates such as concrete, brick, stone, drywall, or other materials for a particular application. The fastener may be included with or integrated into the anchor itself, or it may be sold separately. Anchors provide support through various methods, including expansion from within or behind the substrate or even adhesive compounds.

TOGGLER Anchor System manufactures wall anchors and toggle bolts. The company, founded in 1968, is headquartered in Norwalk, CT.

The mount is held fast to the wall and so is the TV.

It latches onto the inside of the wall and provides great support for hanging most items.

This inexpensive product accomplished something that many DIY websites said was "impossible" - mounting a large 70" flat screen (Sharp LC-70LE735U 70-inch Internet Ready LED TV) to a metal stud wall.

As a new condo resident I'm dealing with metal stud walls for the first time. A quick web search revealed that metal studs lack the strength, rigidity and solid attachment points that wood stud walls offer. Many descriptions on DIY websites tell horror stories of TVs collapsing to the floor and advise consumers to do nothing less than rip out the entire wall, replacing it with wood studs! As this is a rental, that was out of the question but these Togglers did the trick.

I used a stud finder to locate the metal studs (just thin, steel channels shaped like a " ] ") but I still needed to drill 1/16" holes to locate the edges. Then I drilled 1/2" holes to anchor the TV mounting plate with 6 Togglers. The TV is secure and there is no sign of cracking or flexing in the wall.

As one reviewer notes, you probably don't have a 1/2" bit in your toolbox. Also, I was told to use a 1/2" bit that works with metal (as opposed to a wood bit) so the metal stud doesn't get torn up. Since a 1/2" bit alone was $15 I bought this complete kit for less than $20 DEWALT DW1354 14-Piece Titanium Drill Bit Set. It's always handy to have extra bits in the house.

CAUTION - Clearly metal stud walls are MUCH weaker than wood stud walls. For a heavy TV like mine (100lbs) this technique is probably NOT suitable for fully articulating TV mounts that extend the TV out from the wall. But for a regular tilt mount it works great.

Every good review you've read is true, these are very easy to use and they work great. Only one word of caution, just because you see 1/4" doesn't mean the hole you drill will be 1/4", these require a 1/2" drill bit, which was a bit of a problem (no pun intended) for me and my limited tools. The largest drill bit I had for my battery powered drivers were 1/4". It pays to read the entire listing before making your purchase, because if you just have a beginner tool set like myself, chances are you don't actually own a 1/2" bit, so you may want to make arrangements accordingly.

My TV Mount installation was going quite well until I realized my mistake.

I have very narrow (1") metal studs that I couldn't use to mount my tv. I have six of these holding up a peerless ultrathin mount and a samsung 50" plasma display. About 63lbs of total weight. So far, it's holding up really well.

These work great in concrete block walls. One thing to be cautions about: if there is a misalignment between the wall and the object being attached, do not push or force the screw into the fastener. The part inside the wall will break and the fastener will need to be replaced. In my case that meant removing a 10 foot board and all the previously installed screws.

I have used these to mount 32" and above TV's in NYC Apartments with Dry Wall. They are the greatest anchors ever and I would never use anything but them. If you have dry wall and are looking to hang ANY sort of TV...THESE are the toggles to use

These are extremely simple to use, require very little dexterity, and allow for hanging very heavy objects. They're a little pricey, but I will use these every time.

The degree to which these things can secure an object hanging on drywall is impressive. It makes me think that drywall screws are a scam. That said, they do leave rather large holes, so don't use them for temporary installations unless you want to do moderate drywall patching.

I hang a lot of televisions and I've used these with Cheetah Mounts APTMSB Flat Screen TV Wall Mount Bracket for 20-55" Plasma LED LCD TV Includes Free 10' Braided High Speed HDMI Cable With Ethernet and VideoSecu LCD LED TV Wall Mount Full Motion with Swivel Articulating Arm for 23-37, up to 42 in TV Flat Panel Screen With VESA 200 100, 20 in extension and Post-installation Leveling System A35. I have used these in three different applications: bolt in drywall only, bolt in aluminum stud, and bolts through plywood into drywall.

I always try to use LED backlit TVs since they are the lightest. The cheetah mount linked above is amazingly light and works well, the VideoSecu is pretty heavy (heavier than the tv last time). Every time I put a mount up with these bolts I do a full pull up on it to stress test the bolt and the mount (not highly recommended but I would give it a few tugs), it's better to have it break with you in it than with a tv that could fall and hurt someone. So far I haven't had any problems (I'm inside the recommended weight limit for these bolts) and I've been impressed greatly by their holding power.

For a flush TV mount on aluminum studs it is best if you can put a piece of plywood behind it then bolt it into the two studs, but I have used these before with just the mount and it has held.

Highly recommended from my experience.
