Product Description

Item Package Quantity: 1

The TOGGLER SnapSkru SP self-drilling drywall anchor installs into 3/8"- to 5/8"-thick drywall ceilings and walls without requiring a predrilled hole, includes #8 x 1-1/2" screws, and is made in USA. Its corrosion-resistant glass-filled nylon body installs into drywall with a Phillips driver, a hand drill, or a screw gun. The anchor's positive stop mechanism prevents the anchor from being driven too far into the drywall. Inserting an included screw activates the anchor's jaw, locking the anchor into place and compressing the drywall for a vibration- and shock-resistant hold. The jaws emit a noise when activated, providing audible confirmation that the anchor system has been installed successfully. If using screws other than those supplied, the anchor accepts #6 to #10 size sheet metal screws with a length equal to the thickness of the item being fastened plus 1-1/4".

Anchors provide reinforcement to a fastener that would otherwise have insufficient hold in substrates such as concrete, brick, stone, drywall, or other materials for a particular application. The fastener may be included with or integrated into the anchor itself, or it may be sold separately. Anchors provide support through various methods, including expansion from within or behind the substrate or even adhesive compounds.

TOGGLER Anchor System manufactures wall anchors and toggle bolts. The company, founded in 1968, is headquartered in Norwalk, CT.

I live in a modular out in the forest. The drywall in the place is pretty thin; maybe 3/8".

I was pleasantly surprised that these anchors worked perfectly even in thin drywall.

I always pre-drill a small pilot hole and this avoids any drift while the "self drilling" anchor is going into the drywall and greatly eases the self drilling process. I found that a larger than typical #3 phillips tip fits the anchor better preventing wobbling while drilling/driving. Easily done.

I had to place 4 pairs of these fairly close together for some Pinpoint AM10 speaker mounts. I was concerned that the anchors placed close together might cause the drywall to crumble. I needn't have worried. While they get a strong purchase in the drywall, I saw no crumbling at all.

The speakers/speaker mounts are very securely mounted to the drywall thanks to these anchors.

Suggestion: First off, if it's a 2 or 3 speed drill, set drill to lowest gearing for low speed. Next, when the self-drill advances to threading the anchor into the wall, stop short of fully seating the anchor with your drill and carefully hand tighten the last bit til flush with wall. This extra 10 seconds makes for an extra secure and strong anchor. Whereas, even a little bit of over-tightening when driving with a drill can ruin the anchor's purchase in the drywall because drywall can go to dust pretty quickly with just a little too much abuse.

Properly installed, these are very strong. Highly recommended!

Caveat: Not sure how well these would work in plaster walls, but then, they're called "drywall anchors" and not plaster anchors. ;-)

Excellent drywall anchor with real strength. However, it is very difficult to self drill these into drywall. A small pilot hole and they float in like a hot knife through butter.

I recently bought a home and have been mounting things left and right. Unfortunately, I have until recently been mounting these various items using whatever crappy materials they came with. There is nothing more aggravating then having just mounted something and knowing that the SOB thing is wobbly as drunk toddler (huh?) and will eventually just collapse. Sure enough, this has already happened to me with some shelves I mounted. They ended up collapsing, scratched the wall and left some nasty gaping holes in the wall. Mind you, I used what I believed to be high quality metal non-drilling anchors.

After that experience I did some research and found that this style of anchor is the best you can buy for drywall. I thought they seemed expensive but figured if they worked properly it would be worth the added expense. They certainly were worth it as far as I'm concerned. I mounted the same shelves I previously had trouble with no problem at all.

I suggest that when you are using this set that you fasten the anchor by hand as opposed to a power tool. I feel and believe that when you use a power tool the anchor "strips" the wall and it isn't secured as well. My technique was to screw the anchor in manually nice and straight and slowly. Also, listen for the POP sound that is supposed to indicate that the anchor has "spread it's wings" so to speak, on the other side of the drywall.

I have a 30lb wall mount fireplace coming in a few days and if I'm unable to use wall studs I'm going to put my faith into these bad boys. I will update my review if I end up using these for that task.

The Toggler SnapSkru is a good option for hanging items on drywall but I would place it behind the Toggler Drywall Anchor. The drywall anchors are better because I find they are simply easier to use and don't make as big of a hole in the wall. The SnapSkru's do an excellent job of holding up whatever we've used them for and they are my choice if the Toggler achor's are not an option (for example there is not enough space inside the wall for the anchor to enter).
That said, you should be aware of the following with the SnapSkru
1) they make a pretty BIG hole in the wall
2) they take a good bit of effort to screw all the way into the wall - unfortunately I have found that there is a delicate balance between the effort required to screw them in and how much is too much -- because I have broken off a few of the screws halfway into the wall - not fun.
Nevertheless, the snapskru is a very effective way to hang your items on drywall and I have purchased it multiple times

I bought these to mount a coat rack on drywall. Installing them was relatively easy, and they feel extremely sturdy.

They were bigger than I expected, and likely were overkill for something as small as a 4-hook coat rack. But if you plan on mounting something heavier like a shelf, these are absolutely the anchors to buy.

these drywall anchors are life savers if you need to hang anything in drywall and don't want to worry about finding a stud. the plastic part self drills pretty well and the screws that go into the plastic part are high quality and I've never stripped one.

Easy to use, self drilling and higher load capacity than you'll find at the box stores. Great deal and well worth the $$.
