2.0 out of 5 stars Don't judge Greenleaf on this book, April 9, 2006
By
Peter (Melbourne Australia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Toll Call (Mass Market Paperback)
I will admit that I am a HUGE fan of Stephen Greenleaf and he is the closest author who has come to capturing the magic of Ross MacDonald in my eyes.......

......but he is not as good as MacDonald. Sometimes he got close (his first two books - Grave Error and Death Bed - as well as his fifth book - Beyond Blame - got to MacDonald standards) but Toll Call was exceptionally ordinary.

It was sleazy, dull, fanciful and generally boring. Not a normal Greenleaf at all.

Avoid buying this book if you want to try Greenleaf for the first time.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another Great Mystery in the Marshall Tanner Series, June 5, 2009
This review is from: Toll Call (Mass Market Paperback)
This is another great addition to Stephen Greenleaf's Marshall Tanner series.
In this mystery, a sex pervert is after Peggy, Marshall Tanner's secretary.
Tanner continues to be a literate and well-read sleuth. This is a mystery for
serious readers as well as mystery lovers.
