Cheap, flimsy, kept coming apart as I was trying to slice.
JE
I bought this bread slicer after making 1 loaf of homemade bread and trying to slice it was horrible.
Marsha L. Anderson
The pieces fit together rather tightly and did not tend to come apart during use.

The slicer comes in four parts that must be snapped together. It's hard to slice bread due to the flimsiness of the parts. After slicing my first loaf, with the sides falling apart, I finally got decent sized slices. After using super glue to attach the sides to the base I now have a decent bread slicer. It would be a good idea to use super glue when assembling the slicer when you take it out of the box.

I recently started baking bread and needed a slicer. The ratings for this slicer weren't all that great, but I decided to take a chance on it...it works perfectly! I have no complaints. I did change one thing...instead of slicing the bread at the open end (as pictured), I slice from the other end where the bread is up against the back panel...works better that way.

This was a big disappointment.
A flimsy piece of junk. I threw it out after trying to use it. It is not stablr. Made out of cheap flimsy plastic. Very poor quality Complete waste of money.

This is my second bread slicer of the same type. The first one lasted several years, but the "backstop" on this one cracked after only three uses. I wrote asking for a replacement, but to date have not received a reply.

This is a GREAT slicer for the price. You can have nice thin slices or go over an extra guide and have Texas toast ;)
Something else to note that I did not notice in the description (though it is there) is that this comes with a knife! The knife has 2"-3" of ease on the end which is great as the serrated knife in my set is much to short. Great addition that I was not expecting :)

I used it the first time this morning, the slices came out perfect (even tho I didn't wait for the bread to cool) I used an electric knife to slice it and held the sides and top of the bread to hold every thing still and to prevent the bread from sliding, even tho the bread was still hot it sliced like a dream, I was too anxious to wait for it to cool :) Update. (01/02/2014) Since my review of this item I could not honestly tell you how many loaves of bread I've sliced using this guide; after almost a year of use it broke So I have ordered another :)

This item is made of cheap styrene plastic that bends while you try to slice. I used a B&D electric bread knife (about the best I've seen for slicing home made bread) and even with that I couldn't get uniform slices.

To even use the device you will need to glue it together with standard model glue or super glue and let it dry so it doesn't fall apart while slicing.

Then when you get it put together, sadly the groves are too close together to provide a decent slice of bread. If you try to use every other grove the slice is far too thick. This simply was not properly designed and the slicing widths are not adjustable.

It took over a month to arrive and then sorry to say, it simply doesn't do the job. Filing an RMA the same day I received it.

Took a month to get to my house from China (some people have stated longer) and is ultra flimsy. 4 pieces of cheap plastic that fit together. Some reviewers said it comes with a knife but mine did not. Doesn't come in a box or anything either, just wrapped once in bubble wrap and put in a plastic mailer. Is on the small side so if you make a loaf that's too tall or bigger than a 1.5lb loaf forget it. Crumb catcher? No. By thier definition a crumb catcher is any surface you set your bread on while cutting it. It isn't going to be less messy to use this. I don't have anything good to say about this! Stay away and invest in something that's not made so cheaply!
