4.0 out of 5 stars hot HOT TOOLS
This product is working very well for me. It heats up quick and usually only takes one stroke to get the result I want. The only thing I don't like about it is that if it's left on for a certain amount of time it won't automatically shut off. One day I had it on for 8 hours and didn't know. Other than that, it's great!

1.0 out of 5 stars Worst Iron Ever
I just bought this at a professional supply store, and I don't know why I bothered to make the trip out there. This iron does not straighten hair AT ALL...I have fine, but abundant hair, I have been straightening my hair for 22 years, and this is worse than a drug store-bought iron. I don't know why they say it heats up to 430 degrees, didn't feel that hot to me. It...

4.0 out of 5 stars One of the best flat irons you can buy on the market now, September 25, 2008
This review is from: HOT TOOLS Tourmaline Ceramic Flat Iron 1 inch (Model:1161) (Health and Beauty)
HI potential customers if you buy this flat iron you wont have any regrets it does not burn, synge, dry out and damage hair at all as a matter of fact I found this tourmaline iron to do just quite the opposite. It makes hair re-conditioned, moisturizes and makes my hair shine and much more supples. I have relaxed black hair and found it to give my hair that professional salon look especially after I washed my hair at home without stepping into a salon. I love hot tools products and this is surely a best buy.

4.0 out of 5 stars This tool makes me feel like a pro!!!, April 5, 2009
This review is from: HOT TOOLS Tourmaline Ceramic Flat Iron 1 inch (Model:1161) (Health and Beauty)
I am black American and my hair type is slightly coarse/kinky; the type of hair that needs a permanent relaxer to achieve a sleek look. I have been going to the hair salon for the past nine years to get my hair flat ironed on a biweekly basis. It wasn't until I purchased this flat iron that I was able to get almost the same results at home. It does a great job, without pulling or creasing the hair, like other flat irons. The moisture on the plates makes my hair feel so smooth. I don't feel like I am damaging my hair when I use it, however I think I might be wearing it out!! If that happens, then I will definitely just buy another one, if not, buy one now as back up. A+ product (The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 stars -- It would be supreme if it had an automatic off function)

4.0 out of 5 stars Efficient Product, July 14, 2008

the Flat Iron heats up fast. I like the case it come with that allows me to pack it while it is hot. there is no space between the plates when you close them(even coverage of the hair).

5.0 out of 5 stars Great straightener, very easy on hair, March 29, 2008

This product is totally worth the money. My hair has not been damaged nearly as much as it was with other cheaper straighteners. Has a nice temperature setting so you can adjust depending on your hair thickness, etc. and heats up very fast. Great buy

1.0 out of 5 stars Worst Iron Ever, August 11, 2009
This review is from: HOT TOOLS Tourmaline Ceramic Flat Iron 1 inch (Model:1161) (Health and Beauty)
It took me so long just to try to straighten out one section of hair, and it still did not make it smooth. It made my hair frizzy and the straightening effect lasted only about one hour. As I type, my hair is getting back to curly again.

Don't waste your money on this please. The people at the pro store even told me that this is the lower end brand.

The better irons for more money I have now found are GHD and H&R.

By far and away, you can DEFINITELY do MUCH better than this iron. This is NOT the best on the market, believe me.

This review is from: HOT TOOLS Tourmaline Ceramic Flat Iron 1 inch (Model:1161) (Health and Beauty)
I bought this product because of the ceramic, tourmaline and titanium used to make it. I was thinking this iron was going to be really hot and provide lots of shine well i already have an FHI iron and its better. This iron is worth more like $30.00 to me. I'm not totally disappointed but it's just "okay" not all what i thought it would be. I have fine, relaxed hair.

Great flat iron. It gets my hair completely straight and gives it beautiful shine. I have naturally straight hair, so I don't think that it would well for someone that had extremely curly hair.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good if you have money to buy a new one every 3 months!, September 13, 2010
This review is from: HOT TOOLS Tourmaline Ceramic Flat Iron 1 inch (Model:1161) (Health and Beauty)
I bought this item for the fact that it had tourmaline/ceramic technology. I only used it once per month and w/in a 3 month period, it began to suck. The coated ceramic plates are not a good feature because this flat iron's plates started to chip. It's true that it straightens your hair and lasts for a hour, then you will began to experience frizz. Now, if you are a person of European hair qualitites that is naturally straight, well...it would work wonders for you. This item is not for Alfro texturized hair; though, the pamplet that comes with it states that it is for all hair types...it truly is not. Yes, it will leave your hair with traces of sheen (not super shiney for straight or curly or kinky coiled) and it will leave it stiff, but more slightly pin straight. So sad it wasn't that great and I now have to use it to straighten my extensions (which I wear as a protective style) after I wash them.
