4.0 out of 5 stars Solid product for frequent travelers
DVD regions are the bane of expats and frequent travelers who end up with a collection of incompatible disks.

This player works on all common voltages from 100-240 and plays all regions. A worthwhile purchase for people who roam the world.

This worked for a short time, but went bad within 6 months of purchase. And as the fine print on the sales material warns, nobody local will work on these. They seem to be imported from Russia.

I didn't need a hundred-dollar paperweight: This is too much money for too little utility. These come off as flimsy and poorly made. Try somebody else's machine!

1.0 out of 5 stars Not a Multi-Region Player!, January 19, 2011

This is NOT a Multi-Region player, at least not originally. The one I received is a REGION 3 (this is clearly indicated on the box and in the instructions).

It has been made into a Multi-Region player by opening the box and hacking the player to make it Multi-Region.

This, of course, voids the warranty and makes it impossible to have it fixed by Toshiba, should the need arise.

However, the player I received would not even play Region 1 DVDs ("DVD not formatted for player" appears on the screen).

Conclusion: Will be returning the unit.

Mine broke after six months. The seller wiped his behind on my problem, (VCT Electronics)after I contacted them to try and find out who will fix the unit. Toshiba will not fix it. I now have an expensive paperweight. Shame on Amazon for allowing this to be sold and to allow poor sellers such as VCT to stay associated with Amazon!!!!
