I have used this brand on several horses for a number of growing seasons. They last about a year each for 12 hours a day turnout for 4-5 months, then the feeding hole gets nibbled out. That is not a bad investment if you can save your horse from laminitis. Sometimes the stitching gets loose but the shoe shop fixes it for under ten bucks. I have had the plastic clips wear out but some duct tape holds them shut, same as the velcro: I untack the horse using the throatlatch metal clip anyway. These things take a beating so don't expect them to last years and years. The Best Friend brand lasts longer but is pricier. The Weaver brand is inexpensive but the basket is tiny and irritates the nose, plus they don't seem to fit well and many horses can get them off in a few minutes, which takes away your peace of mind.

If you live in a cool season grass area like the Pacific Northwest, you simply can't leave horses out on all-you-can eat grass. Even in Lexington, KY, a Rood and Riddle vet told me that grazing muzzles are mandatory during spring, and for post-laminitic or glucose-impaired cases who should be out walking to strengthen tendons. Don't assume that because your region has never been known for laminitis that it won't happen, especially if your weather is getting unstable.

Please show how big the grazing hole is in the product. I own one of these and I find it is a reasonable space that allows a little bit of grass ( a 2" by 3" space) which is better than some products that allow almost no grass.

This grazing muzzle was beautiful but no match for my beasts. My mare wore it for only a few weeks before it was in pieces. I think it would be OK for a horse who isn't part of a herd.

Muzzle looked and fit great. However it didn't last long. A few weeks and I was making the trek to our local tack store to purchase another. Very diappointing.

Cozy as it could be! Fat boy has a big pasture so it is mandatory to keep him safe from over indulging. This fits nice and isn't so heavy as to make it uncomfortable . Very pleased with it!
