Haynes tried to cover too much with one manual. Should have a dedicated one for the 1995 - 2004 Toyota Tacoma, Instead they have tried to combine this one for Toyota Tacoma pickup, T-100 pickup, and 4Runner SUV. Consequently short on specific body details like door lock repair procedure. Generalizes way too much. Doesn't match up to Chilton quality. Not really worth the money if you can find an alternative.

The manual is good to have, but lacks the level of detail that I would like.

This is a very handy manual to have when performing all sorts of maintenance on my Tacoma. The information contained within is usually pretty accurate, with the only exceptions being in things like torque settings, quantities, and other numerical values. I believe this is probably due to it covering Tacomas, 4Runners, and T100s, which may have varying numbers for similar parts. I have access to the Factory Service Manual, so I just verify the torques/measurements/etc for the things I commonly do (change oil, lube differentials, rotate tires, etc), edit the book accordingly, and then the book becomes a much more transportable reference to use while I work.

I would STRONGLY recommend this book be purchased by anyone who wants to do their own Tacoma maintenance but does not have a factory service manual.

Since I purchased an older truck, I found that I needed to know more on how to repair areas. Since I am an "old school mechanic" I needed this manual to clear some things up which this book does. Wish that Haynes would write a book on just one model at a time, but it is good to get the job done.

GREAT RESOURCE FOR ANYONE WHO LIKES DOING ROUTINE MAINTENANCE ON THEIR CAR.
