Product Description

N600 Concurrent Dual Band Wireless

The N600 Dual Band Wireless Router TL-WDR3500 broadcasts and receives both 2.4GHz and 5GHz signals simultaneously at up to 300Mbps on each band. Like two wireless routers in one, the TL-WDR3500 allows you to run simple tasks such as e-mail and web browsing over the 2.4GHz band, while using bandwidth-intensive or latency-sensitive applications, such as streaming HD video or playing online games, over the less crowded 5GHz band, simultaneously.

Multi-functional USB Port

The router provides a USB 2.0 port that can be used to share external devices among multiple users.

1. Share a Printer. It is common that multiple users share the same printer in the network. With the TL-WDR3500, you can simply connect your printer to the USB port on the back of the router and print wirelessly.

2. Share Files & Media. Attach a storage device such as a flash drive or hard drive to the router, and users in the local network can all get access to the files saved in the drive. The router also has a built-in FTP server so that users can visit the storage device remotely.

Create a Guest Network for Visitors

To provide Internet access to visitors without revealing the password for your original network, you can utilize the Guest Network function of this router. You are given the options to create a Wi-Fi network on either 2.4GHz or 5GHz. What's more, you can control the bandwidth, schedule, and local network accessibility of the guest network. This feature is quite useful for small offices, shops, and other places where a separate Wi-Fi network needs to be provided to visitors.

Network Management at Your Fingertips with TP-LINK Tether App

TP-LINK's Tether App provides the easiest way to access, manage and share your router's resources with your iOS and Android devices. From setup, to parental control, to media sharing, Tether provides a simple, intuitive user interface to see what the status of your router is, who's online and what their privileges are. Learn more details on TP-LINK's website.

IP QoS – Control Your Bandwidth

With Quality of Service (QoS), you can control how much bandwidth is allocated to each user. This ensures optimum utilization of bandwidth by controlling congestion and preventing bandwidth abuse. This way users of a small network receive committed and specific bandwidth, preventing non-critical applications from degrading network performance.

Easy To Use

The TL-WDR3500 comes with a Quick Setup feature in its web management page that leads you through a step-by-step process to set up your router. Alternatively, you can use the Tether app to do the setup. Either way, you don't need to install any software or use a CD to finish the setup. Within minutes, your router will be up and running.

The setup is very easy for anyone who has ever set up a router and it features QOS to optimize bandwidth.
TheTerrorBeyond
With the 300Mbps of speed using the 2.4GHz band or the 5GHz band, either way you get good performance from this dual band router.
Tooncesmom
This router would drop the signal multiple times a day, usually requiring a reset to get the connection restored.

So the router is about what you would expect. The N600 model with 10/100 ethernet ports does NOT support DD-WRT.
The antennas are there to just make you feel better. Crack one open and you'll see that the actual antenna is about 1/2 inch. The rest is empty plastic.

I got this to replace my 2 year old TP-link TL-WR941ND because i needed to have a 5ghz network for 2 new devices, but still have plenty of other devices that don't support 5ghz so i still needed good 2.4ghz range and to my surprise this device performed a lot worse than the older model, 5ghz network works very fast but only on higher channel and line of sight, but 2.4ghz was not very good, with this i was unable to maintain an HD Netflix stream from a place within 2 walls like my previous router, it kept changing from 720 to 480.

Also i checked with a laptop and the speeds were a lot worse even with the laptop right next to the router, this was getting transfers of up to 60Mbps while the TL-WR941ND got 90Mbps, tried changing a lot of settings on the wifi, using only N mode, or deactivating 5ghz network but nothing helped.

I can't recommend this based on my testing since there are a lot of devices that only support 2.4ghz network.

Mine is running three computers on Cat6a ethernet cables (using "Cable Matters Cat6a Snagless Shielded (SSTP/SFTP) Ethernet Patch Cable" from here on Amazon, 50ft), with all three of us regularly streaming on youtube and/or connected to MMOs. Plus... and this is the impressive part... around THIRTY wireless devices in total, most of which are streaming several gigs of data each per day, and they're stuck on the 2.4 GHz band (through no fault of the router).

The wireless devices have to sit right beside the router to get maximum (full) connectivity, but I don't know how much of that is the signal strength of the router and how much of it is it having to compete with 12 other apartments' wireless networks, two hotels' wireless networks, and one coffee shop's wireless network. And a ton of old wiring in the very old building... a ton of interference in general. In a less congested location it may very well be able to hold all these connections from across the room without a problem, but I wouldn't know for certain.

Regardless, it has 128Mb of RAM, which is really good for this price, and makes it worth getting this even if you're not going to be using both bands. It's holding up under the strain of all these streaming connections like a router that costs far, far more than this one does.

Mine is paired with the "ARRIS / Motorola SurfBoard SB6141 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem" also found here on Amazon, and we're connected to Comcast Cable. Very solid combination for cable internet.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
I must admit I was a bit skeptic about this wireless router since I had never heard of the brand TP-Link before and I've been in the IT business for years, but I'm happy to report that I was pleasantly surprised by its ease of use and performance.

This TP-Link N600 replaced a Cisco Linksys WRT310N Wireless-N Gigabit router and as far as I'm concerned it is a much better product. The Linksys one always ran very hot even after firmware updates, while this TP-Link one isn't even warm and it's been running non-stop without fail for the past month.

With the provided installation CD, it was incredibly easy to set-up, for novices and experts alike, simply follow the prompts and it works like a charm. For the more advanced users it has a very wide variety of customizable features for wireless protocols and associated security features.

To program/configure it without the CD, simply enter [...] into the address bar of your browser (i.e. Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, etc.), press enter, then you'll see a prompt for a user name and password, just enter the word "admin" for both (without the quotation marks), click "Ok" and you're into the router's configuration manager. From here you can change settings on the wireless broadcast frequency, security, DHCP, parental control, access control, bandwidth control, and many, many other options.

I have my TV, laptop, tower PC, iPhone, PS3 and VHS/Blu-ray player all connected to this wireless router and none of them have dropped the connection once, unlike the Linksys which would periodically drop the connection on my laptop. Being a dual band wireless-N router, it has a much higher bandwidth as well, which in layman's terms means it can send much more data at a time than most of your older wireless routers.

Whatever good I can say about this router is easily and quickly overshadowed by the fact it constantly loses wireless connection. Doesn't matter the device--laptop, tablet, Roku, Wii, desktop--all connections drop out for a minute or so, then are re-established. Useless for streaming, downloading, or just about anything else. When you are connected, throughput varies wildly. On a 30M connection, I often experiences wireless speeds as low as 2M. I have an old D-Link wireless router that works far better across the board. Back it goes. I took a chance on a brand I didn't recognize. Won't make that mistake again.
