The router is all the way on the other side of the house and my signal strength is excellent. and picks up all my neighbors wifi as good.

It is very small and it doesn't stick out of your computer USB slot like a piece of plastic.

I am a soldier in Afghanistan where I live in a tent. The nearest internet hotspot is about 120 meters away behind a 1 foot thick concrete blast wall. Before I purchased this relatively inexpensive 'high-gain' antenna I had to leave my tent and walk outdoors towards a signal to connect to the internet.
Now, not only am I able to connect, but I have twice as many choices of networks to connect to. This little gadget is awesome! The upload and download speeds are good enough for SKYPE. It is one of the best devices I've purchased since I've been here.

Bought this to hook up a new desktop system to our historical society's wifi network.

Step 1: Plug into computer using supplied USB cable
Step 2: Install driver from included CD
Step 3: Connect and enter password (one-time)

Took all of 2-3 minutes! Windows reported excellent connection and I didn't even have to extend the antennas.

Our network is currently Wireless G - but this connected with no problem. Router is in another room about 40 feet away.

Used to download and install several hundreds of MB's of OS & application updates, anti-virus, and firewall software. Connection remained solid entire time.

I am very impressed with this adapter.
I've never tried to use wifi with any of my desktops, but after moving one of my systems to a room that wasn't pre-wired with RJ-45 ports, I began looking for a wifi adapter.

My initial instinct was an internal PCI adapter, but I stumbled across this one which turned out to be great luck! It's a lot cheaper than many PCI options too!

The two antennas pick up signals incredibly well. When testing it with my laptop, I get 5 bars wherever I go in the house... even outside.

Additionally, the capability to position the adapter wherever you like is a huge plus. I'm sure it helps to improve reception and avoid clutter.

If you need an wifi adapter, look no further. I highly recommend this product!

The antennae are subtle but important. 20 feet away from my router, my speed was 6 mbps download 3 mbps upload. Then I put the antennae up, and my speed more than doubled to 17/6.

I noticed some confusion about what exactly this devise is used for.

The main purpose of this is not to upgrade to 802.11n from 802.11g, although it can be used for that, and you will be getting faster speeds with n. (N has far better throughput reliability, speed, and distance--with a caveat.) It is to be able to use the new 5 GHz band to connect to your wireless router--and you most likely will be getting faster speeds with that band too. But the main reason you may want to do this is if you live in a heavily congested wireless network area. Your neighbors' internet networks might be interfering with your connection to your wireless router.

Set n on 5 GHz only in your router homepage, and you will be getting the fastest speed out of your connection possible, along with the least amount of interference. While n is supposed to give least distance, if you have your connected devise in a straight line from your router you shouldn't see a dropoff.

I live in a place where there are at least ten internet networks in close range. In the evenings, when I try to stream movies at times, there is significant lag in them, even to the point sometimes that they will stop completely. I have tried changing channels in my router software, and it may help for a time but inevitably, someone nearby will decide they want to use that same channel, and again, there are those annoying glitches in the evenings when I'm watching a movie. It seems I and my neighbors are both using the same wavelength to connect wirelessly to our routers.

So this devise comes to the rescue. Along with this, you will be needing a dual band wireless router, one that not only uses the usual 2.4 GHz band, but also the 5 GHz band.

I didn't even need to install TP-Link's driver, my computer already found compatible ones that made it work right out of the box; although the instructions caution that TP-Link cannot guarantee its performance with other drivers.
Reception is great; better than older TP-Link adapters I've had before, and a tiny profile is definitely a plus.

This is my second purchase of this item and I highly recommend the TP-Link Wireless N TL-WN22N. I replaced two wireless PCI N cards and the difference is like night and day. I think the problem with PCI cards is that they are located behind a computer which may be behind a desk or other furniture and I think that may be responsible for their poor performance. Since this device is tethered to a USB wire and it can be put in a more clear path to the signal the difference is significant. The price is in the same ballpark as most PCI cards so if you don't mind this small device in view it is a winning proposition. My two network locations went from -49dBm and -60 dBm to -31dBM and -38dBM with this device. I have bought four TP-Link devices and they are a big surprise. Before that I had never heard of this brand. My only wish is that TP-Link would start making their products in black to match all my other components.
