TL-WN821N works great on both Windows 7, and Linux x64,

I got this Atheros based dual band USB WIFI dongle from Amazon.
Delivered well, and quickly as usual. It worked right away on Windows 7, using the mini CD provided. After installing the Linux firmware it worked very well with both Linux "Fedora 14 x_64" and "Mint 10 x64". I had some headaches to learn how to properly install it, but after this it worked great with the "out of the box" open source drivers. All I had to install was the firmware file from Atheros web site. I also sent an email to TP-LINK and got a good but incomplete answer from TP-LINK's support guy: Calvin. I would suggest that TP-LINK put the Atheros firwmare and document properly (on the mini-CD) how to get this nice device to work on at least the top three distros (Ubuntu, Fedora, Mint), with the 2.6.x kernel. Criticism: The product is neat, well packaged, but a bit too bulky for a notebook. Also, the USB connector cap is easy to lose! A much smaller version (ideally nano USB) would be quite nice, and could sell for a bit more, for notebooks users, willing to upgrade to dual band 802.11N : much faster and better range than the old 802.11G. I gave it a five stars, because as it is, it is a very reasonable priced, great product. Andre Gompel

price meets performance and then exceeds it!...If it lasts me a couple years it'll have been well worth it....now I have the speed and bandwith throughput I was looking for without spending a fortune to retrofit my wireless network to the higher performing 'N" standard. I also like the usb extension that comes with this adapter which helps me position it in a safe and functional manner.

I bought this dongle on sale to replace a linksys wusb300n that was acting up and loosing signal. The unit is on a computer that is in the basement and the wireless router is on the main floor of the house. Signal has to move through two walls and floor. This unit gives me fair connectivity on the strength meter. The linksys would rarely get better than low connectivity. I think that this is a great unit with lots of bang for the buck.

I bought two of these for my popcorn hour/Egreat and they are both version 3 which will not work and has been verified by Syabas. Only V1 and V2 work which is not what they are selling.

It works well for other laptop except my Thinkpad t400 bought 2 years ago. Be careful if you have the same laptop. Anyway, it's not the fault of this TP-Link.
