5.0 out of 5 stars This is the collection you're looking for.
T'Pau is the perfect example of a group that caught on in Europe but never made much of an impression in the U.S., which is a real shame. This would easily have to be the greatest pop music that I didn't discover until after its time had passed. This greatest hits package in particular is just loaded with wonderful songs that never got any sort of attention in America...

3.0 out of 5 stars Yes, they sang "Heart and Soul"
T'Pau - in America at least, was a one hit wonder in 1987 with the song, "Heart and Soul." I loved it! Still do. Additionally, the song, "China is Your Hand" is great. In my opinion, these are the two stand-out songs on the cd.

T'Pau is the perfect example of a group that caught on in Europe but never made much of an impression in the U.S., which is a real shame. This would easily have to be the greatest pop music that I didn't discover until after its time had passed. This greatest hits package in particular is just loaded with wonderful songs that never got any sort of attention in America.

A Place In My Heart is downright delicious from start to finish. Of the many brilliant songs that I've ever stumbled across by accident, this one is quite possibly my favorite. It reminds me of Roxette's "Fading Like A Flower (Every Time You Leave)," except the hooks are even more amazing here. (In fact, Roxette's use of guitar in that song is very similar to many of the songs on this album.)

Rating each of the songs on a scale from 1 to 10, over half of them get either a 9 or a 10 from me:

10/10: Heart And Soul, Bridge Of Spies, Whenever You Need Me, The Promise, and A Place In My Heart

9/10: I Will Be With You, Road To Our Dream, Only The Lonely, Secret Garden, Hold On To Love

8/10: Valentine, Sex Talk, Only A Heartbeat, Strange Place

7/10: No Sense Of Pride

This collection was reissued in 2005 with the exact same songs, a different cover, and a shorter title (Hits). If you missed out on this group the first time around, either of these collections will be a worthwhile investment.

5.0 out of 5 stars China in your hand, April 3, 2009
This review is from: T'Pau - Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
Taking their name from a Star Trek character, T'Pau were successful in Britain in the late eighties with several UK hits. Heart and soul, their debut hit, made the top five on both sides of the Atlantic, but the song for which they will be forever remembered (at least in Britain) is China in your hand. It reached the very top of the UK charts and deservedly so. Other hits followed including Valentine, I will be with you, Secret garden and Whenever you need me, all of which made the UK top twenty, but they were unable to write any songs that captured the public imagination as they had done with China in your hand. Carol Decker, the lead singer, has an excellent voice that is very expressive, but her efforts to establish a solo career after the T'Pau hits dried up came to nothing.

This compilation contains the best of their music including all the hit singles except Walk on air (which was such a minor hit that it barely registered on the charts), all recorded between 1987 and 1991. T'Pau re-formed to record another album that was released in 1998, but it didn't revive their career so they disbanded again. Those 1998 tracks aren't represented here, because this compilation was released in 1997.

If you enjoy British pop of the late eighties and early nineties, T'Pau are worthy of your consideration.
