4.0 out of 5 stars Good Item
This trap certainly negates the problem of the coons' dexterity of being able to release itself from a typical neck snare or leg hold trap, I have to give it only four stars because I would rather use a Conibear #280 body trap or snare.

On the trap line it's a Conibear or Duke Leg-hold or Snare.

If I were trying to discourage or exterminate local coons around the farm or house then I would use these exclusively.

This coon trap is a little spendy but still a great idea because it keeps Rover safe so that he can let you know that the coon is there~!

1.0 out of 5 stars Humane?? DON"T BELIEVE IT!!, October 11, 2010
This review is from: Padded Raccoon Trap (Misc.)
I seriously object to the "humane" (compassionate;with sympathy) description that accompanies this item. The device is made of hardened steel with a spring coil that snaps against the tubular frame to trap/hold the animal in place. Even with "padding" there can be no doubt that, the device will fracture and brutally the crush bones in the foot or forearm of any animal trapped in such a fashion. The term "humane" is obviously used because the device does not kill the animal outright. This trap is a typical "leg hold" without the teeth and the damage/harm to the animal would be the same. This product description is very misleading and inaccurate. There are many humane traps (cage type) available on the market. This device is, clearly, not one of them.
