Product Description

With most articles of clothing and equipment, the initial cut and repetitive motions of squeezing the shears with your thumb and finger can be unsafe, tiring and time consuming. Shears can and sometimes do fail, and ripping can be a mess or not an option with many materials such as leather. With a single shearless insertion, and by using your wrist and arm, the TRECK works best as you draw it away from the patient. This prevents contact, and also allows the TRECK to slice through materials more effectively. Access wounds quickly, safely and easily. Easier to Use: Clothing is channeled to the blade with a new ballpoint to blade guide, which widens the effective cutting angle. The polymer-coated blade minimizes friction for easy and even cuts. Purpose-Built - Patented design cuts multiple layers simultaneously, including thick jackets, leathers and heavy uniforms like turnout gear. No Blade Changes - Patented, corrosion-resistant, Teflon-coated blade maintains original, razor sharp edge. Replace about half as often as shears. Safe - Pull away from patient to cut with minimal tension with a single insertion. Fast & Easy to Use - TRECK+ features new, elevated blade angle and optimized ballpoint guide. Saves Hand Fatigue - Single tool makes entire cut without constant squeezing of shears.•Effective - Razor-sharp, heavy-duty, serrated utility razor blade makes easy and even cuts. Rescue Use - Handle with grips for use with gloves, bright color and ultra lightweight design. •Strong & Lightweight - Solid ABS frame weighs only 2.3 ounces. Convenient - Use with Holster, Sheath, Silicon Blade Cover or Carabiner as a carry item, or store in trauma bag. Inexpensive - Long-lasting, autoclavable, multi-use tool as shears, seat belt cutter and O2 wrench. Lower Force - Blade angle, Teflon coating and ballpoint reduce bunching and friction vs. hook knife and other tools. Made in USA

I don't write reviews often, but this product deserves one. I own 2 of these, and they work so much faster then trauma shears. This thing just slices through pretty much any clothing. On their promotional videos, they show it cutting through firefighter turn outs in just seconds. the blade is serrated, so if something is a little tough you can use it like a saw and it'll cut right through. There in no risk of cutting a patient with this tool either. If you want something that will cut seat belts, and clothing with ease and not risk cutting your patient then this is the took for you. I am an EMT, and volunteer firefighter, and love this tool...

Important that it is bright colored. I haven't put it to the task but my life may depend on it because it is mounted in plain sight on my rock buggy.

I know this is supposed to be for cutting seatbelts but there is another reason you may want a Talon rescue cutter. There are many documented cases of dogs dying when their jaw gets caught under the collar of the dog they are playing with or vice versa. In these cases owners have not been able to get the collars off or to get the dogs jaw out. Unfortunately this has resulted in one or both dogs dying. By having this cutter available you can cut the collar before it is too late. Regular scissors will not work. Be ready!

The Treck does the job in most cases but there's a learning curve. You have to develop the technique to get the cut started through layers of clothing, or heavy seam binding, etc. Once the cut is started, it's twice as fast as scissors and saves on the repetitive hand motion required by scissors.

The size of the handle is a bit of an issue. It is about 1" too long to fit properly in a standard EMS/emergency services trouser cargo pocket, so it sticks out most of the time when carried.
