5.0 out of 5 stars Wireless made easy
TrendNet makes some of the best wireless cards and routers out there. Easy to install. Good tech support (including Linux support!!!). Have used it with multiple brands of routers (including TrendNet), all with solid success.

1.0 out of 5 stars Uses a lot of CPU cycles
Installed this in a Thinkpad T23 - granted an older laptop - and its software driver appears to use 50% of the CPU cycles for normal operation. This occurs even if no browser is active. A peripherial such as this should not be using so much of the processor's available capacity. It's likely either poor hardware or software design - or both. I will see if they have a newer...

5.0 out of 5 stars Plug in and go, October 24, 2007
This review is from: TRENDnet 108Mbps Wireless PC Card TEW-441PC (Personal Computers)
Unpacked it, plugged it in and "hey presto"... just followed the instructions and was surfing the web in no time. Really didn't know what I was doing, but I didn't have to.

Installation was a snap. Instructions were easy to follow.

Configuration software is NICE...
...except that it's in one of those windows that cannot be resized. The list of neighbor nodes has to be scrolled vertically and horizontally as a consequence, but it could easily be displayed in its entirety in a larger window. I'm pointing this out in hopes that someone influential at TRENDnet might happen to read this.

I'm rapidly becoming a fan of TRENDnet.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great product, but setup was frustrating, March 1, 2009

I put this into my old 2001 Compaq 1720US laptop and it works. I had a minor problem the wireless utility that I installed from the CD. First of all, I was unable to access the utility. I open it and then it closes right away. In the instructions, it tells you to turn off this Windows Wireless Zero Configuration by going to your network connections and then right click on "Wireless Network Connection" and select properties. It then tells you to go to "Wireless Network" tab. I did not see this tab. Took me awhile to figure out what to do. It turns out the Wireless Zero Configuration was disabled. I had to turn it on. If you have the same problem I had, go here to turn on the Wireless Zero: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/871122

After that, I was able to see the "Wireless Network" tab. I uncheck the box next to "Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings." Now I was able to use the software Wireless LAN Configuration Utility.

Took me 4 frustrating hours to get this thing to finally work. Anyway, the signal between my router (which is a D-Link DIR-825) and this wireless card is 100%. I'm on the 2nd floor approximately 40-45 feet away from the router too.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great, September 12, 2007
This review is from: TRENDnet 108Mbps Wireless PC Card TEW-441PC (Personal Computers)
The signal will often show no bars or one bar for networks that should be within range. However, it is very good at connecting to these networks and keeping signals. Very reliable overall and very good value. Just short of perfect.

Easy to install, I've used it in a few different ThinkPads. It has never failed me, other than in certain situations it is difficult to connect to a wireless network, but only due to the installed software. Install the driver only and use your systems default wifi network manager.

Recieved the card and read the install instructions. After simple install of software card was running in no time with no issues at all. Very pleased with this card and based on my personel experience would recommend it. Card is much faster than factory installed wireless card.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy Install Fast Connection, July 13, 2009
This review is from: TRENDnet 108Mbps Wireless PC Card TEW-441PC (Personal Computers)
I recently had FiOS installed. I took our old Inspiron 8000 laptop out of the closet and decided to see if I could connect it with wireless to our router. Following the CD installation and after inserting the card, it was simple to configure the connection and be on the internet in no time with 100% link strength and quality. I recently upgraded from Windows 2000 Pro to XP Pro and went through the installation again with no problems.

I've never had WiFi before and was a little bit anxious about how it would work with my older IBM laptop running Windows 2000. The instructions that came with it were good about how to install it and run the software, but there was NOTHING about how to connect up to the internet and security settings etc. I'm still learning all that from others. Still, it was easy to install, easy to carry around in my briefcase and best of all, it worked!!!
