This product works very well, but for my laptop, I had to buy this adapter: Dvi Adapter Dvi-d Male To Dvi-i Female.

There are (at least) two different dvi connector types, dvi-i and dvi-d. My laptop has the wrong type for the cable that came with this switch. You can look at the connector on your computer and see the difference. If the connector for the monitor does not have the four extra pin ports around the flat pin, then you will need the adapter (check out the photo in the adapter mentioned above). The adapter makes everything work properly. I was concerned that the audio portion of the switch wouldn't work properly with the adapter, but it was no problem.

This switch also floated around on my desk after all the cables were attached. It just isn't heavy enough to stay in one place. I fixed that problem with a bit of hook-and-loop connector.

Other than those two issues, I would definitely recommend this product. It easily connects the two computers to one keyboard, mouse and digital monitor, and does so without any problems.

This product provides the capability of managing two computers with a single USB keyboard and mouse, and DVI monitor. It worked great for a few days, then the USB ports fouled up. I contacted the seller and very quickly got a replacement. It arrived with one USB port non-functional. 0 for 2, I decided to return all for a refund.
The light-weight plastic case made the box flop around a bit on the desktop with all the cables attached. Convenient USB ports on the front, but the monitor port ought to be on the back or end, not the front.
Nice try.

One of my computers uses an ATI All-In-Wonder Radeon 8500 DVI, which simply would not work with this KVM. I opened 2 helpdesk cases with Trendnet Technical Support. In the first case, they told me to go a download "generic drivers for Windows. Bye bye." and closed the case out. The 2nd case at least worked through swapping cables, ports, changing video modes, etc... before finally suggesting I toss my Radeon and get a different video card! Wrong answer. I'm tossing the KVM instead.

Right from the start I had problems with this product. The mouse was "buggy" on one of the computers but this problem I could deal with. Support's only suggestion was to unplug and replug everything, which did not correct the issue. The next issue on the unit was that red lines began to appear on my main display on both computers. After calling and talking to support they issued an RMA and replaced the unit. The second unit works much like the first, right out of the box one of the computers the mouse is "buggy". I can only assume the USB hub is defective or poor quality. Now the mouse is also having issues on the main #1 computer and the speed of the pointer is inconsistant. All USB / display problems are alleviated when I plug the devices directly into the computer bi-passing the KVM. Not very happy with this purchase!

I have Win7 and WinXPpro computers to share my "microsoft wireless laser keyboard/mouse 6000 v2.0" and my nice 25" Dell falt screen monitor. My monitor is DVI and my keyboard/mouse are wireless, connecting to the same base which heretofore plugs into my computer in one USB slot. Works fine on both computers plugged in manually.

I should have expected problems out of the box, as many review complain about one problem or the other or that it develops problems within a couple months.

Setup is easy. One nit, the DVI cables they send you are ~3 feet long. So, if you are like me, my keyboard/mouse/monitor on one desk and my two workstations on the floor behind and to the side, this creates a "cannot reach" issue if you want easy access to the KVM.

Now, the big problem. Video is just fine. Switching between computers, shows both screens in brilliant resolution just as if the monitor was directly connected to each. But, no matter which system I connect to, my mouse/keyboard action is ALWAYS directed to computer #2!!!! Are you kidding me! How do you mess something like that up? If I switch the USB cable from computer #1 into the computer #2 slot on the KVM - then I now have keyboard/mouse control on computer #1. I have rebooted, reset, everything; keyboard/mouse action always goes to the computer connected to the KVM #2 slot!

Also, the HOT Keys for switching from computer to computer do not work.
Also, the installable software utility to manage hot keys etc does not work. In fact, it just does nothing and then fails and goes away. I only installed/tested it on XPpro.

I originally chose to go with this product for the facts that it supported USB 2.0, higher resolutions, DVI cable compatibility with all cables (give the DVI-I ports and included cables), and the lower price than other options ... but unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed after connecting this KVM to my Mac Pro and a Gateway 24" monitor, only to have it flicker endlessly, even after multiple reboots of each.

I tried working with the TrendNet technical support team, who had me plugging in a Windows keyboard and doing a reset of the KVM switch, only to finally admit to me later that this was a known issue with some Apple machines. It's really frustrating to go through all of the run-around, wasting time, and now having to return a product, when it was a known potential issue all along. I will not buy any TrendNet products in the future, and cannot endorse this one.
