This review is from: TRENDnet 4-Port PS/2 Rack Mount KVM Switch TK-401R (Black) (Personal Computers)
This is an excellent unit with all connections on the back which helps with cable management. It also has low-volume audio feedback for the hot-keys which is better than my prior KVMs.

However, I was surprised to find it has four male video connectors for the controlled computers. My previous two KVMs had female connectors and worked well with my cables. After spending an extra $15 for 4 video gender changers, everything worked out fine.

Very sturdy all metal case. Works great. Minor Point: The red (power) LEDs tend to swamp out the current selected system (green) LED. The "scroll-lock,scroll-lock, number" sequnce is very easy to get used to. Note KVM supports the monitor ID protocol required by some systems. My former KVM lacked this ability.

This review is from: TRENDnet 4-Port PS/2 Rack Mount KVM Switch TK-401R (Black) (Personal Computers)
I originally had a very very old No Brand 4 port chained on a ConnectPro PR-14. It had worn out switches and didn't have keybrd switching. I purchased the Trendnet TK-401R to replace the one with worn out switches. I didn't want to reroute/change cables to go to an 8 port switch. It works excellent for me the female VGA port connectors were just what I needed. And the 401R uses ScrollLock+ScrollLock+# to switch and the ConnectPro uses control+control+# so there is no compatibility issue there either.

The unit is built heavy and of metal and is almost as heavy built as the ConnectPro PR-14 which is over 9 years old and still functions like new and I expect from the quality of the Trendnet TK-401R it will last as long or longer. The switches in the KVMs take a whipping if manual switching is used. And I really like the switch beep none of my older KVMs have this feature. And the soft touch buttons work great if used.

All in all I am quite pleased so far with the Trendnet TK-401R. So if you have your own male ended cables it should make you an excellent KVM product.
