It was very easy to set up and it works very well!

I tried a speed test (and many since) and now I'm consistently getting speeds from 17-22Mbps, so I'm very happy.

I purchased these adapters from Amazon because I was very skeptical that they'd work and wanted to be able to return them easily. They have worked much better than I expected and I couldn't be happier. I will also be able to save $15 dollars a month because I don't have to upgrade my internet service to a faster plan.

My specifics:

My back bedroom where we watch Netflix and Vudu movies is approx 100-125 feet and 5 sheetrock walls from my wireless router. My service plan is for 20Mbps but I consistently get higher results (20 - 30Mbps) when I test from close range, in my bedroom I was only getting 2-6 Mbps. I tried wireless repeating with another router but got no real improvement.

My home was built in 1988 so I suspected my electrical wiring might be too noisy for a good connection, but I wasn't hoping for a lot just an extra 5-6Mbps. The 2 electric sockets are on separate circuits but both are within the same breaker panel.

So, I purchase these adapters and configured the extra router that I'd tried to use as a repeater as an access point.

As noted from other reviews the installation was very easy. Plug-in and connect one of the adapters to my modem connected router, plug-in and connect the other adapter to my access point router, turn on the modem connected router, turn on the access point router, done.

I was surprised to see that the "speed indicator LED" turned from orange to green after a few minutes.

I tried a speed test (and many since) and now I'm consistently getting speeds from 17-22Mbps, so I'm very happy. Netflix buffers in just a few seconds and is much more responsive and Vudu speed tests report that I can stream at any resolution that I want.

Bottom line; I feel comfortable recommending them.

I use two Slingboxes in San Diego and two in London, UK. In both cities I have download speeds of 30-36Mbps and upload speeds around 2.5Mbps. I previously used Netgear 200Mbps Powerline adapters, but switching to the TRENDnet 500Mbps adapters has increased my speeds dramatically. I can now stream in San Diego at around 1,800Kbps making soccer, in particular, a joy to watch - this is a particularly good test as the camera is constantly moving, but the picture remains extremely steady and focused. [Because of UK voltage requirements, in London I use a similar product from Devolo with almost identical results in reverse.]

It was well worth the extra expense to "upgrade" my system with these easily installed Adapters. No setup was required. Plug them in and off you go.

I chose this powerline ethernet av adapter over other brands because of 3 main reasons; i've had positive past experience with TRENDnet product, the advertised 500 Mbps and the bonus outlet. I have these new Samsung LED TVs. The Sumsung wireless ethernet dongle just couldn't maintain a signal. Also with the Samsung TVs they have all sorts of issues in wireless mode. I don't have an ethernet cable going to the TVs so I had to get the powerline ethernet AV adapter to trick the TV into thinking it is wired. This device did exactly what I needed by providing constant internet to the TV. The internet going to the TV hasn't dropped yet and the setup was as simple as can be. My router is security enabled and that didn't cause any issues. I believe the internet signal between the device maintains the encryption so my neighbors won't steal my signal. It is very important I have a powerful signal because I stream Netflix in HD and with a slow connection the Netflix automatically downgrades to 780 resolution which looks like crap. I need a full 1080 otherwise it upsets me. There is no setting on Netflix to prevent the auto downgrade when it senses the low speed. Without downgrading to 780 when there is a slow connection the stream would pause or drop. This device provides adequate speed to stream the 1080 I need. So why did I give it 4 stars? I gave it 4 stars because of what I feel inaccurate speed rating. I have lighting fast cable and the newest AV Asus router. The 2 adapters are only 10 Meters apart so should get over 200 Mbps easily which is the limit of TRENDnet's lower powerline models. The maximum Mbps I get is about 120. It is impossible to get 500 Mbps with this device even in a laboratory. Has anyone been able to get over 200 Mbps with this model?Read more ›

You won't actually get 500Mbps out of these things unless your power lines are turbo charged but great speed that beats most WiFi link speeds. Very simple to use and set up is as simple as pushing a button. I'm a ham radio operator and I've not heard a peep of noise from these things on the HF or VHF ham bands. I have one right in the shack. The signal won't get past filtered powerline strips and even if you have a filtered strip plugged into the same duplex outlet. Indicator LEDs indicate the connection speed (Red, Yellow, Green). Yellow connections are quite sufficient for streaming.
Think of these as a wired Ethernet extension cable. Plug one into your router and the other into your computer. Yes, you need two (sold in pairs).

I have a set of the TPL-402E2K units, and while the work pretty well, I am at a loss how to use the "reset hole" in the bottom of the unit. I have tried everything from a needle to a paper clip, and nothing seems to click or otherwise activate when you push it in the hole per the instructions. No change in the lights, etc. and no effect. Almost like the hole is not in the correct spot. Anyway, anyone ever needing to reset these, may be out of luck if yours is like mine.
