The router works great and was very easy to setup.

In the 4 days that I have owned it, I had to reboot/unplug the router five times as it will randomly drop internet connectivity.

After about 4 hours of trying to fix the wireless issue, I called tech support.

OK, this router is good. I also replaced the card on my latptop (Dell Lattitude e6400) to one that uses Wireless N. Just so you know, you can check your laptop or other wirless devices and see what wirelss standard they use - 802.11g (older), 802.11n (fairly new) or 802.11AC (new, and fastest). See this link for background on the wireless standards: [...]

The truth is I am not seeing perfect network speeds with this router, but I think that is as much the card/computer as the router. I am fully satisfied with this router, and I think it is a great buy (thus the 5 stars). All around, very pleased with this purchase and I look forward to using with 802.11AC devices in the future.

Some things I wish I was told:
- There are ultimately 3 passwords for the router (note: there can actually be more if you set up "guest" networks or other special features this router has, but that is too advanced for me and you can be like me and just not use them). You can set all 3 main passwords to be whatever you want (I set them all to be the same): admin password (to access the router), connection password for 2.4GHZ wireless, connection password for 5GHZ wireless.

- As implied above, this router actually creates 2 wireless networks. I expected only one network, with multiple frequencies, but this router actually creates two distinct networks (2.4 and 5 GHZ) with different network names and everything running through the router. Both run at the same time automatically (2.4 and 5). You can select which to connect to (and/or let your computer do it automatically and/or some wireless cards may even be able to connect to both at the same time).

- Set up is really fast and easy with the included quick setup guide. But if you really want to understand the router you'll have to invest 1-2 hours reading the manual (this is on the CD that comes with the router and also on the TrendNet website).

Was under the impression this router did DLNA, streaming videos and photos to DLNA certified products such as my TV and PS3, but unfortunately that isn't the case. The product description says file sharing, but not DLNA so don't be confused like I was. I'm disappointed that it doesn't do it, but range and speed are excellent and far outdo my previous netgear router.

Update:
I've had the TRENDnet AC1750 for a month now and can say I am more than impressed with its performance, reliability and speeds. I have a total of 4 MacBooks, three wifi televisions, multiple wifi game consoles, 4-5 different phones depending on the day, all of these connected streaming audio and video and the router works flawlessly. I set up a total of 4 networks for different purposes so there would not be any interference, and everyone at home is now happy.

First off, let me start by saying I know very little about networking. I know how to set up a router and access it, but after that im not too smart on the subject. I decided to write this review and give others my opinion on this product. I was running an old Motorola 5101 modem attached to a DLink DIR-615 N300 wireless router. I have a true 3-story house and this equipment was installed in my basement where all my coax cables were split and distributed. Before installing my new Motorola 6141 modem and TRENDnet router I decided to run a speed test from Speedtest.net. Wirelessly I was averaging 12 down/3 up and for a long time I was very happy with that. My kids (via Actiontech powerline adapters) were getting just under the same specs. When I plugged in my new equipment...BOOM! wireless N on the 2.4GHz band was running >17 down>6 up, then I tuned into the 5GHz band. I moved to my bedroom which is farthest from the modem and used an ASUS EA-N66 adapter...>32 down>12 up! I couldnt believe how much faster I was running. It seems as if websites are coming to my computer before my computer has the chance to process it! Oh yeah, the kids powerline adapters are now getting them upwards of 22 down/9 up.

This product performs very well and was extremely easy to setup. I purchased from another site as they beat out Amazon by $10.00 with a coupon but now it is the same price at both retailers.

I chose this rating because this router does not work as expected. I would have given it 2 stars, however, my experience with TrendNet customer support has not been positive.

The issue is that I loose my internet connection on a daily basis on all of my connected devices. The only way to fix this is to pull the power plug from the back of the router, wait about a minute, plug it back in, and voila! All connections are reestablished.

I've contacted TrendNet support 3 or 4 times and carefully followed their setup instructions. However, they have not been able to resolve this issue. They stated that the issue was probably with my ISP and that it seemed to be a "DNS conflict." They also tried to pitch me a service (for approx. $70) so that a technician would log into my network and attempt to further diagnose the issue. Given the time and energy I've spent dealing with the issue and speaking with customer support and not getting any results, I turned them down on that offer.

I contacted my ISP (TimeWarner, NYC) to discuss my issue and had them verify that everything was fine with my setup and equipment. They stated that according to their systems, my internet service had actually never been interrupted since I opened my account. They were also not familiar with any DNS conflict. One of the tests that I performed was to plug in a laptop directly to an available Ethernet port on the modem and I have actually verified that when the router goes down, I can still connect to the internet with the laptop plugged in directly to the modem.

This entire experience has been really frustrating and at this point, I cannot recommend this product.

Hi Anonymous,

We are sorry and saddened for your loss of internet connection on a daily basis. If applicable, please update to the latest firmware via the following link, http://www.trendnet.com/downloads/list_subcategory.asp?SUBTYPE_ID=1610. To understand and possibly remedy this issue, I will suggest to set static DNS with DNS servers from ISP in a reversed order, or Google DNS 8.8.8.8 & 4.2.2.2. If this still doesn't help please email me at adrian@trendnet.com with "Amazon TEW-812DRU" in the subject line and I will respond immediately to assist. Hope to hear from you soon and restore your faith in TRENDnet.

Warmest regards,

Adrian
