Pros:
* Inexpensive
* Easy to Set-up / Configure
* Has all Basic Features (Port Forwarding, Access Restriction, DMZ ect)
* Good Range
* Consistent Transfer Rates and Up-Time
* 802.11-N!

Cons:
* Lacks Gigabit for Ethernet Ports
* Limited to 300mb/s wireless transfer rate
* Does not support DD-WRT Custom Firmware

I bought this router for my parents, who needed to network a few computers, a printer and a DVR. I did not need a high-end wireless router, so I did some research and decided to go with the TrendNet, which was on sale for under $20 dollars. The product arrived very quickly and was easy to un-box and set-up. It only took me a few minutes to set-up and configure.

The Router's web interface was straight-forward and I had no trouble finding any of the features. I was impressed with the range of this router, which was able to cover most of my house, and even my backyard. The Data wireless transfer rates were okay, but only go up to 300/mbs. I do not mind since I do not perform many file transfers or big downloads over wireless. I was a bit disappointed over the lack of Gigabit (1000mb) for LAN files transfers, but I'm not going to play for what I had to pay for this router.

All in all I think this router is a great buy for the money. It is easy to set-up (even if you are not very tech savvy) and supports basic features you would need to get a home network by.

I'll spare readers the details of my travails with past unsuccessful attempts to install wireless routers. Suffice it to say that TRENDnet's TEW-731BR brought a welcome end to my frustration. The time spent to install this router into the modem & PC running Vista 64 bit to which it is wired, plus the time spent to bring two remote PCs (one XP 32 bit, one Vista 64 bit) online via wireless connections, totaled about 30 minutes! The installation Wizard did it all; I simply followed the quick-start directions to the letter. Two takeaway lessons: (i) The TEW-731BR is priced at the low end of the wireless router pricing universe. Lesson to be learned: there is no necessary correlation between price and performance (but you knew that already). (ii) Persons whose sole objective is to establish a local wireless network and to access the internet as rapidly and painlessly as possible are likely to be pleased with this product. I have found the endless blathering of techies whose "reviews" cavil over the pejorative ambiance of conjunctions in user manuals to be a needless and unwelcome distraction.

Size Name: N150 Open Source Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
The TEW-712BR - N150 Open Source version is an entry level router with 150mbps single channel wireless N speed. It is also *very* inexpensive.

The LAN and WAN ports are all just 10/100. This isn't for power users. This is a good upgrade for an older wireless G router when you have modest needs for speed and better range.

The unit I got was tried for just that purpose. It replaced an old Linksys 54Mbps Wireless G router to improve range and streaming performance to a smart Sharp Aquios TV. I had used my iPhone 4S and laptop with the old wireless router so I had a basis for comparison. I was a little surprised by the results.

When I set it up I configured it manually. First thing I did is upgrade to the latest firmware. The process was simple and easy. I setup the time zone and to automatically get the time from north-america.pool.ntp.org (the public pool of North American time servers).

I setup the TEW-712BR with the same wireless settings as the old Linksys for encryption (WPA), SSID and wireless key. Everything connected without problem. The laptop got a lot better and more reliable signal at the farther reaches of the house. The TV connected and worked better too!

It appears the DSL provider in Maine has some issues with intermittent pauses of traffic lasting a few seconds that hurts streaming and give occasional choppy web browsing experience. This is exactly the same as with the older router so I doubt this is a TEW-712BR issue.

What caught me by surprise is how poorly the iPhone 4S operated with the wireless. It connected but the signal strength varies from zero (disconnect) to max. This is while it was sitting on the table. I don't know why this happened. I had not had this problem with the iPhone before connecting to wireless.

I bought this router on sale with a great deal. this router is great i have another one in my house (att uverse router)and i was using but with this router i get more download speed than the other one but the signal strength is not that great the other one i had before i could use it from my basement and my router always was in 2nd floor in an apartment but with this one i can't use from my basement anymore..additional i can get the signal(3,4 bars out of 5) from 1st floor so if anyone living in a house i don't think it gonna be a problem for you. other than this is a great router if you buy it under $25!! i gave it 4 star but if the signal was great i would definitely give it 5 no question ask.. thanks

This wireless router is very easy to set up. The quick start directions are fairly accurate. However, there may be an extra step. I suggest you use this procedure for the least trouble:

1. Do NOT connect to your cable modem, etc. Skip this step for now.
2. Connect the wireless router with a cable to your computer.
3. Plug the router in
4. (this is important) turn on, reboot, your computer.
5. Try opening a browser set to the address given in the quick start guide.
If that doesn't work:
Go to control panel and select network connections. Select a new device (you will see TEW-71BR in the window of devices). If Windows asks you for a password, look on the label under the router. There, in very small type (on the right) you will see "Password" and an 8-digit number. Enter that in the Windows box. Click "Next", enter a password for your wifi, and you should be done.

You can set up all the standard stuff from your browser. When you have finished, disconnect the router, unplug it, and now follow the setup instructions (connecting to your internet modem).

This device is fairly foolproof. There is one issue, at least for me: This router is only 100mb bandwidth. That's fine for most people, but I expected this unit to be a gigabit router (that's 1000mb). My home network is all 1gb, so I would be slowing things down with this unit.

YOU SHOULD KNOW:
This is a very basic unit. It doesn't have the more advanced security of more expensive units.
It is only 100mb network bandwidth. If you have a gigabit network, do not buy this.
Take your time with setup and you will have no problem.

IN SUMMARY
the Trendnet N150 is an inexpensive imported product. It is probably fine for most people, but if you have a fast home network, this unit will slow you down. The price is right. It works and has all the standard router features. If you have a 100mb network, this unit is fine.
