This review is from: TRENDnet Wireless N USB Adapter TEW-644UB (Personal Computers)
I'm glad to provide a first review for this item. About one year ago, I bought a TrendNet Wireless G PCI adapter for a desktop computer. It was my first experience with the brand and I was very pleased with the quality, compatibility, and ease of set-up.
I again decided to try another TrendNet product after a successful first experience and am very satisfied with this Wireless N USB Adapter. It was set-up in about 5 minutes, probably less. Using Windows Vista, I installed the software from the CD (as stated in the quick-set-up directions). After the installation, I plugged in the Wireless N USB Adapter, it took about one minute to setup the security on the network, identify, and connect. This was all done on a desktop computer. It works great and there is a noticeable difference over the Wireless G. The quality and reliability of their products are outstanding. I was also fortunate to purchase it for about $23 through Amazon.com. I see the price has gone up at least $10 or so, but it's still a great deal.

This review is from: TRENDnet Wireless N USB Adapter TEW-644UB (Personal Computers)
Bought this because I wanted to receive AT&T WiFi from Starbucks about 100 feet from restaurant patio where I breakfast.
The built in AirPort card in my Powerbook barely connected and often dropped the signal. This Trendnet adapter does much better. Where the AirPort card (barely) found the one AT&T Wireless, the Trendnet is finding at least six signals. The provided short USB extender cable is bendable so it can be used to aim the Trendnet at the WiFi source to get a better signal. I was surprised how much stronger the signal could be made by just a small adjustment in the position of the adapter. Vertical? Horizontal? Left? Right? No problem. WARNING: The SPECS are clear. This adapter does NOT receive WiFi on the 5 ghz band where I've set my home Airport Express. As there are only a couple of adapters that will even work on Mac, wasn't much choice for me. But if you have a Windows machine, you might be able to find an adapter which does both 2.4 & 5 ghz. The built in AirPort card is much easier to "manage." This one takes a bit of "twiddling." Well within reach of anyone who has a computer, but if you're just terrified of anything that doesn't work exactly right out of the box, find a friend who can help!

Works with WD TV Live,

Purchased for use with the Western Digital TV Live box. (Western Digital lists on its website that this adapter is certified as compatible) So far it works well straight out of the box and I can stream movies to any computer in the house as well as move files to the WD TV Live box from any computer. (I use an iMac, MacBook and Mac Airport wireless N router.) Price as of this review is $37, but I purchased mine here on Amazon for only $20 just 3 months prior to writing this.
