5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Product
I'm glad to provide a first review for this item. About one year ago, I bought a TrendNet Wireless G PCI adapter for a desktop computer. It was my first experience with the brand and I was very pleased with the quality, compatibility, and ease of set-up.

I again decided to try another TrendNet product after a successful first experience and am very satisfied...

3.0 out of 5 stars Amazon have matched the wrong specs
Amazon has incorrectly matched the manufacturer's description for the TEW-664 with TEW-644. The TEW-644 is NOT dual band, only single band 2.4 GHZ.

I'm glad to provide a first review for this item. About one year ago, I bought a TrendNet Wireless G PCI adapter for a desktop computer. It was my first experience with the brand and I was very pleased with the quality, compatibility, and ease of set-up.

I again decided to try another TrendNet product after a successful first experience and am very satisfied with this Wireless N USB Adapter. It was set-up in about 5 minutes, probably less. Using Windows Vista, I installed the software from the CD (as stated in the quick-set-up directions). After the installation, I plugged in the Wireless N USB Adapter, it took about one minute to setup the security on the network, identify, and connect.

This was all done on a desktop computer. It works great and there is a noticeable difference over the Wireless G. The quality and reliability of their products are outstanding. I was also fortunate to purchase it for about $23 through Amazon.com. I see the price has gone up at least $10 or so, but it's still a great deal.

4.0 out of 5 stars Far better reception than built in Airport in Powerbook G4 12", May 2, 2009

Bought this because I wanted to receive AT&T WiFi from Starbucks about 100 feet from restaurant patio where I breakfast.

The built in AirPort card in my Powerbook barely connected and often dropped the signal. This Trendnet adapter does much better. Where the AirPort card (barely) found the one AT&T Wireless, the Trendnet is finding at least six signals. The provided short USB extender cable is bendable so it can be used to aim the Trendnet at the WiFi source to get a better signal. I was surprised how much stronger the signal could be made by just a small adjustment in the position of the adapter. Vertical? Horizontal? Left? Right? No problem.

WARNING: The SPECS are clear. This adapter does NOT receive WiFi on the 5 ghz band where I've set my home Airport Express. As there are only a couple of adapters that will even work on Mac, wasn't much choice for me. But if you have a Windows machine, you might be able to find an adapter which does both 2.4 & 5 ghz.

The built in AirPort card is much easier to "manage." This one takes a bit of "twiddling." Well within reach of anyone who has a computer, but if you're just terrified of anything that doesn't work exactly right out of the box, find a friend who can help!

4.0 out of 5 stars Works with WD TV Live, September 21, 2010

Purchased for use with the Western Digital TV Live box. (Western Digital lists on its website that this adapter is certified as compatible) So far it works well straight out of the box and I can stream movies to any computer in the house as well as move files to the WD TV Live box from any computer. (I use an iMac, MacBook and Mac Airport wireless N router.) Price as of this review is $37, but I purchased mine here on Amazon for only $20 just 3 months prior to writing this.

I purchased this for my son whose computer is sitting on the 2nd floor of our house in his room. He had a D-Link 802.11G USB network adapter. Our house has an Apple Airport Extreme wireless router which supports 802.11n.
My son's signal strength has always been poor in his room, ranging from 2 to 3 bars (out of 5). He plays World of Warcraft regularly and uses Voice over the Internet and has complained regularly of the connection problems he has faced. I saw this on sale during the Black Friday sales and I grabbed it up for his birthday. He was quite happy to see it and he plugged it in, configured it and now has 5 bars of connectivity! Nothing else was changed in his setup or positioning of his computer. I am very happy with this product.
CONS: I would have given it 5 stars if it had a USB base and extension cable like the DLINK has. Instead, this ships with a little 3" cable to extend the USB port out for this adapter.

2.0 out of 5 stars Its ok..., April 18, 2011

This review is from: TRENDnet Wireless N USB Adapter TEW-644UB (Personal Computers)
I got this on sale from amazon for about $19 and it worked ok, easy setup, but ever since I got it, I have to use the supplied USB dongle because it gets poor reception plugged into any of my computers myriad of USB ports. Now 6mo later, I get a spotty connection if at all. I have multiple wireless devices and this is the only one with poor connectivity, so I know its the adapter.

Sometimes, you get a deal, and sometimes, well, sometimes u just get what you pay for.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works and never drops signal, April 6, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: TRENDnet Wireless N USB Adapter TEW-644UB (Personal Computers)
This has been one of the better adapters, I've had over the years. Have it on an 2nd floor desktop with Win XP Pro with the router located on the opposite side of the house on the first floor. So its going through the floor and a couple interior walls about 50' away. The PC its on, also has our main network printer, so we need it to work right. From day one it was a simple setup and it never has yet dropped the signal. Will probably buy another for our WDTV Live.

5.0 out of 5 stars No Problems, November 20, 2010

This review is from: TRENDnet Wireless N USB Adapter TEW-644UB (Personal Computers)
My wireless router is from TRENDnet, and works fine, so I picked and the adapter from the same company. I have used it for a short distance (~3 yards/meters, through one wall), with Windows XP on a Dell celeron desktop PC for approximately one and half months, and it does a good job.
