Product Description

TRIXIE’s 2-Story Rabbit Hutch is ideal for small groups of animals such as rabbits and guinea pigs. The two-story design has a retreat area on the upper level. The non-slip ramp allows your pets to roam inside and outside, upstairs and downstairs, in the sun or in the shade for ideal comfort. The interior hatch door gives owners the option to restrict access between levels as needed. Wood paneling at the back and side offers additional protection from the elements. For easy maintenance, we’ve included two pull-out plastic trays and a hinged roof with locking arm which be opened from above. Solid wood construction, glazed pine finish, and our finest materials mean this hutch will endure years of use with very little maintenance. Dimensions: 46 x 26 x 44 inches. Door opening: mesh 27 x 15 inches; wood 11 x 15 inches. Weight: 74 lbs. Color: light pine. Quick and easy assembly. One year warranty. Note: Water bottle and bowl not included.

Customer Reviews

Highly recommend for anyone with more than one indoor rabbit.

The problem is that the trays are too shallow and won't hold enough sawdust to keep the animals clean without cleaning it very often.

I do love the style of this hutch, my rabbit seems to love it, however my rabbit is chewing on the wood?

I received the package in pretty good condition and was able to get it all assembled on my own (took about 1.75 hours from openning to completed assembly). The wood is very soft so there was some damaging and cracks when I put in the screws but it is overall pretty stable (I used some wood glue for pieces that cracked). The side hinge for the top is basically worthless but not absolutely necessary. Not all trays in the upper area fit perfectly but well enough to work with. the biggest plus is that it looks really pretty and is nice and roomy for the bunnies- my only major complaint is that the wood smells as though it was treated with chemicals and it has made my entire room smell! I am hoping in time that the toxic smell will go away as it airs out. If someone is purchasing it for outside use I would be concerned with how well it might weather - I think some extra reinforcements in structure and probably a good protective coating on the outside would be necessary to make it work well outside. But for inside it looks fine.

Bottom line - there is not a lot to choose from in this price range so I would say it is pretty good for the money. I would recommend it with the few cautions I mentioned above.

I do love the style of this hutch, my rabbit seems to love it, however my rabbit is chewing on the wood? I was dissapointed in the quality the hinges on the top were completely stripped and I had to put a new hinge on. also the back pannel wasnt measured so holes matched up. Lucky I am handy with wood and crafts. Really do feel if these few things were perfected it would be Amazing.

This is a real piece of s***. I do not use that word lightly. The workmanship is shoddy to say the least! The wood is cracked in places. Glue is streaked all over the place. The plastic trays are cracked. The house partitions are uneven and splintery. The asphalt roof smells terrible and literally crumbles away in your hand, along with the asphalt covering the ramp. If your bunny swallowed that crap it could KILL HIM! To return this item, you must "include all original packaging material"...well, the BOX FELL APART!! It was already torn when it arrived and the trip up the stairs finished it off. The cheap styrofoam disintegrated and there are bits of it all over the floor, another bunny choking hazard. Do yourself a favor, buy the more expensive option...this is inexpensive for a reason. IT'S CHEAP!!!!

We purchased this for a rescued rabbit. Our handyman put it together very quickly (within an hour) and brought it into the house. He had to repair a couple of minor things due to shipping, but overall the construction is good. Wood odor was very strong, so we aired it out for a week with an odor absorbing airwick in it. After 4 days I added some Timothy Hay to absorb some of the residual odor, then cleaned it out and put in fresh before introducing the rabbit. First week I kept him upstairs while he adjusted to seeing the cats run around, then opened up the bottom to him. He loves running up and down the ramp, leaping off of it half way down to land in his dirt tray. He enjoys being in the middle of the action with the family and responds to us when we speak to him. We are very happy with it.

This hutch is really cute and my guinea pigs love it. The problem is that the trays are too shallow and won't hold enough sawdust to keep the animals clean without cleaning it very often. Which is difficult because the trays don't slide easily. Also, the bottom tray leaks awfully bad. I have to put something under the hutch just to keep it clean. Completely disappointed. Will go back to a cheaper cage.

This is an excellent rabbit hutch. I have one that I use for a bonded pair of rabbits with the ladder installed and the inner door between floors open. They have plenty of room and enjoy the 2 levels. My other hutch is set up without the ladder for 2 separate living spaces. Depending on rabbit size, you might need an exercise area for rabbits using only one floor, particularly if you install the ramp and then decide to confine the rabbit to the lower floor. While they do like to 'hide' behind the ramp they also won't have as much space. The design hides the litter box and is easy to clean. These cages have a clean look and are great inside the house.

I ordered the cages separately, from different sellers at different times and had no problems with damage. I suspect the delivery people on those issues as I have noticed an increasing tendency for delivery companies to leave products at the base of stairs rather than carry them up, regardless of whether you've paid for "door-to-door" delivery or not. If damage occurs I would contact the shipping company's local office and complain or leave them other feedback. (Not easy but it can be done.)

My other advice relates to protection from the weather and predators if you use this hutch outside. Rabbits would be fine from cats but the latches can be opened by some types of predators and while the cage is strong, a coyote or similar could get through it with enough time to chew it up so I wouldn't assume rabbits could be left outside in the cage without additional predator controls. Wind-driven rain can enter the hutch and will flood the floors leaving the bunnies stranded in their litter boxes unless you drill drain holes for the water. You need a wind and weather cover if you use the cages outside.
