5.0 out of 5 stars This One Worked Right Out Of The Box
Having read about the problems others have had with memory storage in their digital cameras, I was apprehensive about buying the cheaper brands of storage, especially the 120x version. I wanted a lot of bang for my buck and still remain confident that it would work. Transcends' Compact Flash card not only formatted correctly the first time, its' speed never faltered...

My card started with 10% corrupt pictures from Nikon d200. After a few months it is no longer recognized in the camera or card readers. Emails to transcend have gone unanswered.

5.0 out of 5 stars This One Worked Right Out Of The Box, February 6, 2007
This review is from: TS4GCF120 - TRANSCEND 4GB CF CARD (120X, TYPE I ) (Accessory)
Having read about the problems others have had with memory storage in their digital cameras, I was apprehensive about buying the cheaper brands of storage, especially the 120x version. I wanted a lot of bang for my buck and still remain confident that it would work. Transcends' Compact Flash card not only formatted correctly the first time, its' speed never faltered. I purchased Canons' new XTi which came with no memory, and was pleasantly surprised when I slipped the 4GB card in and scrolled to the format position on the menu and selected format. The card was formatted and ready in a matter of seconds. I quickly took about 10 pictures in raw and downloaded them to the computer... 0 problems. I reformatted the card, and took 40 to 50 repeat shots as fast as the camera would take them. There was only minimal lag time when I took the indoor pictures. The outdoor pictures just clicked away. I am very satisfied with the Transcend 4GB compact flash card and will purchase one or two more of these in the near future.

1.0 out of 5 stars BETTER STAY AWAY FROM LOW QUALITY CARDS, November 24, 2006

I considered this card to shoot a wedding because being short on cash it seemed like a good value, I researched a few websites and found some encouraging comments so I went ahead and purchased it. What a mistake!!
I filled up the whole 4GB with RAW/JPEG photos (I use a Canon EOS 30D) and when I transferred the photos to the computer (used 2 computers and 2 card readers) I started getting hardware failure errors after errors and lost over a dozen precious photos.
Needless to say I was majorly furious. Thankfully I like to be prepared and also carried my old and trustworthy (5 full stars) 2GB Sandisk Ultra II.
From now on I will stick to Sandisk cards, I'll pay more but I know my photos will be safe.

It seems like a few people here didn't appreciate me giving negative comments to this product. Oh well, too bad for them, I'm not going to lie. When they have their precious photos destroyed too maybe they will understand the meaning of "review"

5.0 out of 5 stars 2 years and going strong! Tips to make it last., November 4, 2009

I've been a happy Transcend customer for the past 2-3 years. I shoot high volume, filling up my cards. I've never had cards get corrupted or "break", not even physically. You have to take care of them, and follow some rules to maximize life of your cards. I wrote an article on JPEG Magazine site some time ago about my rules when it comes to cards. I have followed these rules over the years, and I still use my 2 original Transcend 4gb x120 cards. Not one problem since I bought them back in 2007 (I think, might've been 2006). So I'm reposting revised version of my rules here for everyone to read, and hopefully minimize negative feedback for these cards. FYI, I'm not paid in any way to do this. Just a happy customer.

Sometimes information gets corrupted on the storage cards. Here are few tips on how to reduce the chances of file corruption and save your precious images.

1. Format, Format, and Format.

Formatting your storage card is very important - it keeps data from being corrupted. I, personally, instead of deleting images after transfer just format my card. I always format my cards before each shoot. I noticed early on that my Canon 20D formatted cards with 12kb of information, but if I left card in my camera just sitting blank it would increase to 16kb. So, to minimize chances of getting corrupted I make sure my card is formatted before each shoot. Formatting card tells camera how and where to put images on it. Formatting will save your life. Get in the habit of doing it before each shoot. Never use computer to format your cards, only camera can format it properly.

2. OFF is your friend.

This is very important, for it messes cards up quiet frequently. Turn your camera OFF completely before removing card. This will eliminate your images getting corrupted on the card. Especially if the camera is writing them to the card, DO NOT REMOVE CARD OR POWER DOWN your camera while the red light is blinking, it means it's writing information onto the card. It's like drunk driving, you might get a way with it once or twice but you will get caught.

3. Don't forget protection.

Keep it in a dry place, without direct sunlight exposure and in room temperature. I use ThinkTank's Pixel Pocket Rocket. It holds 10 cards, or more if you have SD instead of CF cards. It's very durable, lightweight, and keeps your cards secure. Keep them safe. Whenever not in use, put them away in Pixel Rocket or any other safe dry place.

4. Interchange

My personal recommendation is to never use the same card consecutively. After I upload everything, I format it with my camera (to make sure I don't grab a card with images on it and try to shoot and then try and delete unwanted images from the previous shoot) then pull it out and stick new card in, already free of images. This simple step reduces stress on your card, and increases life expectancy. As it seems to happen to me since I've been using them for 2-3 years.

Alright, I think that's enough. These are 4 tips for making your card last and be good to you. These are my personal steps, part of my workflow. You should adopt these tips and make them part of your photo routine. Take a good care of your cards, and they will take a good care of you.

You might disagree with me, but hey this worked for me. Next time your card fails, try and follow these steps and see how long it takes for it to fail then... for me? Never happened yet.

It has worked so far as any CompactFlash card should. I have not had any problems of performance with it. I cannot compare it with any other since this is my only one. It seemed like a good price.

I've only had them awhile (I bought two), but am very pleased so far with them. Great price, and they perform as advertised - noticeably faster than the Ulta IIs.

5.0 out of 5 stars great compact flash card for an awesome price!, February 14, 2007
This review is from: TS4GCF120 - TRANSCEND 4GB CF CARD (120X, TYPE I ) (Accessory)
I had a Lexar compact flash card fail on me a few years ago and thought I might like to try a different manufacturer. I switched to Transcend and have not looked back. I have three 512MB cards, two 1GB cards and now this 4GB card. Never a problem with any of the cards. Very fast and very reliable.

For the price you can't beat transcend cf cards. I have three - 2 4gb and one 8gb. Using them in a canon rebel xt and rebel xti - worked great from day one.

5.0 out of 5 stars long-term performance, June 2, 2008

I've used this card for a year and a half now - shot thousands of images on it, and I've had no problem whatsoever. It seems to be just as fast as my 2gb Sandisk Ultra II. This has been a good value for me.

I use these cards to store mp3s for play in my Honda Civic stereo. It works great. Once the first one worked well, I bought another. This is the only compact flash card I've ever used so I can't say how it performs compared to other cards, but I'm happy with it.
