I bought these snowshoes a couple of years ago but wasn't able to really use them until this year due to lack of snow last year. They are comfortable enough to walk in for a while although I have had trouble with the toe straps coming loose so my foot ends up pigeon toed in the shoe. I'm not impressed with the heal strap adjustment. The way the strap fastens is a pain to deal with. I highly recommend adjusting indoors when the traps are warm and SLIGHTLY more flexible. Once they were adjusted though there was no risk of them loosening up! Also recommend using the same boots with them so you're not constantly needing to adjust the heals. The ratcheting system across the top of the foot is easy once you learn which parts need to be used to loosen it.
The other reviewer was right on with the sketchy directions. There were only drawn pictures no words, which in some cases works better but having both would be better. I still sink in the light snow of course so that was disappointing with just how little they helped. If you're looking for a snowshoe for that kind of walking you should look at the large old fashioned kind in wood frames. The downfall there is they don't have crampons which definitely help if you're planning on using them on hills. Hope all this helps your decision making!

These were a gift from my wife (his and hers). We immediately took them into the White Mountains of NH. They grip very well, but there was one major difficulty. My pair kept slipping off the heels. They are adjustable, but am not crazy about the poor fastening directions(no words,just pictorials) or the ease of tightening. So it may be they were not correctly secured, but will not know until the next trip when we will adjust them again. I'd say if you have size 10 feet or larger, you will be more likely to have this problem.
