5.0 out of 5 stars Nice mount
Pretty good mount, heavy enough to stay in place and not move around at all. I also like the fact that it comes with its own mounting bracket and its not just a heavy bean bag, lets me keep the windshield mount in the other car. Also like the fact that its not as big as others.

2.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't mount to Via 1505
I bought this to work with the Tomtom VIA 1505 and can NOT get it to attach to the GPS. The 1505 has an integrated suction cup system but I wanted something beefier. This came up as a suggestion on amazon when I bought the gps so I thought I'd give it a chance. Turns out that the two are not compatible. I can not get the two to mate. 5.0 out of 5 stars Great item, November 9, 2011

I got this when the Tom Tom original windshield mount stopped sticking to the windshield and I must say this one is a 1000 times better than the windshield one. It looks better and firmly holds the GPS.

2.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't mount to Via 1505, November 20, 2011

The silicon disk of the 1505 will not fit into the mounting ring of this unit. Too bad as the unit looks beefy and would do the job.

5.0 out of 5 stars The option TomTom should have included, August 24, 2011

One of the weaknesses of the Tom Tom 540 is the way it attaches to the car. It is never a good idea to mount off of the windshield not only because it is illegal in some places but it attracts thieves who do thousands of damage just to get a $200 unit. The dash mounted Assembly from them is of a poor design on their part. This after market device fills the void. They need to update the devices it is for because I bought it for the two 540 TM's that we own and it works great. The only complaint that I have heard is that the quick disconnect method of Tom Tom's has a tendency to come undone. Some lock-tight or similar product could help for those cases.

The bag is very good....But the ring on gps is not.....When you adjust side to side I found that GPS slips off alot..I had to use silicone to solve problem....I just adjust up and down....OK solution...I would hate to use standard suction on window...

Love it! It came quickly and in great condition. Mounts easily on the dash and does not slide around. This is much better than it popping off the windshield with the mount that came with it.

I can't stand having my GPS on my windshield and I have found that on my instrument panel is a great place for it. In my old car the suction cup stuck nicely over my tac (its an automatic anyway) but I just got a new car and the plastic over the panel is slightly curved so a suction cup wont stick to it. This item has turned out to be a good replacement as it fits nicely on top of my steering column, doesn't move around at all, and holds my TomTom XL330 without any problems.
