The Tom Tom comes with the suction mount for the windshield. Tried that but is a real pain to take off when you stop. Don't want to leave the mount attached to the windshield so everyone knows you have a GPS in you car. After a few days I had to find another mount that was out of the way and easy to use. This vent mount is just the thing. I can take the GPS unit off and leave the mount attached to the vent. Can easily re-attach when I'm ready to go. It is just plastic but seems to hold up okay.

This mount is excellent and works exactly as expected.

When reading reviews, I saw that some people said it was easy to install and uninstall, while others said it was difficult. Few, if any, of these people stated which vehicle they were installing it in. I installed this in a 2004 Honda Civic and found it difficult to install the mount. The problem was not the mount, but the vent for this car. The vents are designed in a way that the front gaps between slats is smaller than the thickness of the clips. With some finesse, I managed to get the mount clips through the gaps. Once in, the mount works brilliantly.

I have a TomTom XXL, and noticed that one reviewer stated the XXL was too heavy for the mount, and that the unit would keep pivoting down because of its weight. Concerned over this, I read the product description to try to determine the way the mount pivoted. I couldn't find this information in the description, so I will describe it here so others will better understand. The mount uses a ball and socket joint to allow for pivoting the GPS to your liking. At this joint, there is an adjustable part that can be tightened or loosened. When loosened, the joint can easily be moved with little resistance. When tightened, the joint is difficult to move, which helps keep the GPS in place. The XXL is definitely a heavy GPS, so I needed to tighten the joint almost as much as possible. Once that was done, the joint was easily able to hold the weight of the XXL, while still being able to pivot when the user wants to change the angle of the GPS. As long as you have a GPS the same weight of the XXL or lighter, you should not have to worry about the mount being able to handle the weight of your GPS.

Some people commented about not receiving instructions with their mount. When I received my mount, it came with simple and easy to follow instructions.

If you are considering using a vent mount, or just want a mount that is lower in your line-of-sight to make driving safer, I would highly recommend this mount. One last point of advice is that the mount is only designed for vents that have horizontal vent slats. It is adjustable enough that a person with vertical slat vents might be able to make it work, but I have no idea how stable it would be.

It took a little while to find the best place in the cars vents to mount this holder but it works well and I mounted it in the bottom slat of the passenger side air vent with it angled for the driver to view the GPS screen. The TomTom GPS is out of direct sight from thieves and eliminates some of the glare on the screen. The GPS holder is solid and has no movement when the cars traveling. I guess I prefer this over a dash or windshield mount.

My first gps mount was lost in the mail. I notified Amazon.com, they notified the supplier who immediately sent a replacement and e-mailed me.The swivel mount works great and this company is the best with it's service. I would highly recommend them. Amazon is a champ like always.

This vent mount is relatively simple to put together. It holds the GPS unit well and is easily adjustable. I use it on my TomTom XXL 540S and am very happy with it. Can't ask for more than that - no, that's not true: paying in the teens for a couple pieces of extruded plastic from a chinese factory is probably a bit much. Arkon could do well to reduce the price of this product.

Others have written that this product is difficult to assemble. I went to the seller's web site and downloaded the assembly instructions for the nearest comparable product. Following those, I put this together in less than ninety seconds and used the same instructions to install it on my vent. Its located at an adequate viewing level and is secure. I would tend to agree with another reviewer that its a bit pricey for a chinese made product but I'm happy with it and glad I bought it.

This is a great accessory. It attaches to my vent and my GPS connects quickly and securely. It helps to keep my line of vision open to the road while still having my GPS close at hand! It was received as promised and shipped to me quickly.

I bought this to use with my Tom Tom 130 GPS. It works great. Snaps into the air vent to hold the GPS. I was skeptical when I ordered it but found that it works very well.

The spring tension jaws to hold the bracket on are difficult to use, and break easily. TomTom unit is hard to remove.

this thing swivels better than the suction mount, my little screen sits nicely in it.

after using for a while as a delivery boy it was nice having it at the level of my vents however on warm days the clips gave a little and the gps fell out, its happened a handful of times, but still works fine, I tied a pipe cleaner to it and the vent so it wont be able to fall anymore if its too hot
