Product Description

You need this pedal. Period. Whether you play acoustic guitar, electric guitar, or bass, you need to be in tune. No amount of friends in the crowd will save you from bombing if you're up there making a fool out of yourself because you're obviously out of tune and unprofessional. Think of Boss's TU-3 tuner pedal as your best friend onstage. It's stupid-easy to use, it's easy to see even in bright sunlight, and it's built to keep you sounding good for years to come. You get all kinds of modes that let you tailor the TU-3 for your particular setup.

This is a newer tuner by Boss with double the accuracy from their old tuners. Boss added more lights to the front panel so it is easier to see how off you are out of tune. The battery is easy to change (no tools needed) and the lights are pretty bright to see in the sun. Of course, the pedal mutes the instrument when it's tapped, so this is great to tune up between songs. I use this for my violin, paired with the Boss EQ pedal, which makes the perfect combo for a musician on stage. Runs on a single 9 volt that lasts many many hours. Just remember to UNPLUG the input 1/4" jack when you're not going to use it for a while, otherwise it will drain the battery

I'll get right to the good/bad points:

Good:
- sturdy build, will last
- lots of tunning options
- has a power in AND power out for power chains
- bypass jack

Bad:
- The flat symbol is too tiny (Just a VERY tiny period next to the letter that's not very obvious or intuitive, and can be tough to see standing up).
- Can be easy to accidently switch modes and make you wonder why it won't tune correctly

The boss tu-3 chromatic tuner is the BEST way to go for live performance. It gives you as a guitarist the ability to switch guitars quickly and without the dreaded "unplugging sound." I use it with my acoustic guitar and it makes tuning in-set so smooth and effortless. Worth the money!

The title pretty much says it all. This is such a simple, great tuner. The streaming light effect is extremely cool yet totally practical! Great deal.

I didn't feel this product offered the same degree of tuning accuracy as my old Quarts Analog Meter tuner does, but for quick tuning or retuning it seems to be a great addition to your line of foot pedals. If I were to give my old Quarts tuner a score of 100, then I'd score this Boss tuner at about 95.

I had a TU 2 pedal for years that worked fine. I then replaced it with this TU 3. TU 3 jumps all over the place. Takes too long to tune as you will wait for a few seconds for it to settle down and pick a note. Sometimes it won't display anything and then starts jumping notes. At the end of a tuning cycle it was very common to recycle through the notes again after you strum a chord and hear the problems. Very common to think you have a string in tune just to check again and see it isn't in tune. Can be very frustrating. And don't even think about using this in the studio. My TU 3 no longer lives as it was chucked off the 3rd story of the recording studio I was recording at. I smiled with glee as I saw that thing bust into pieces. This pedal cost me lots of time and money because it simply could not do its job efficiently. Now own a TC Polytune 2 and much happier. Boss needs to go back to the drawing board as this pedal is a huge fail. Recommend Pitch Black, Turbo Tuner, PolyTuner, even 10 dollar headstock tuners are better.
